When I first unpacked the gate it seemed to be very light and flimsy compared to the other gates I have used. However, after a couple of weeks of my medium size but powerfully built dog making every effort to get through the lock gate it has stood up as well as any other dog gate I have used in the past. Consequently in my opinion this is a 5 star product.

I was unsure initially what we could use to stop out Westie running into the hallway and out the front door.

Within minutes we had is set up and running just using pressure to keep the frame in place. When happy with location and product I screwed the retaining cups to the door frame. Sticking them as also an option but I chose screws.

Once in place one just has to adjust the adjustment wheels to ensure the gate closes properly and that all is square and aligned properly and does not pop open when pushed.

It opens both ways, into and away from the door.
Occasionally people are too gentle and do not close it properly or close it too hard and it opens the other way. This is not a product issue but a user issue when people do not take care.

Before the retaining cups are fixed to the wall it is very easy to move from one doorway to another. Just check your doorway size before purchase as there is limited room for over or under size entries

I would buy again if I need more

Bought to secure our dog in certain rooms as she recovers from surgery. In this it is very effective. No tools or drilling required and can be moved around the house as needed
Now stored in our garage pending a puppy arriving in a few years time

Perfect, pressure fit is amazing didnt have to drill any holes
I chose this one as it comes with an extension rather than buying separate. Have no complaints been using for months now and it still stands in place keeps my kids away from the stairs 🙂

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI recently purchased the Hauck Baby Gate for Doors and Stairs Open N Stop, along with the 9 cm Extension, and overall, I am quite satisfied with my purchase. This gate has been a valuable addition to my home in terms of keeping my little one safe and secure. However, there is one small issue that I wish could be improved upon.

Let’s start with the positives. The installation process was fairly straightforward and hassle-free. The gate itself feels sturdy and well-built, giving me peace of mind knowing that my child won’t be able to bypass it easily. The Open N Stop feature is incredibly convenient, allowing me to easily open and close the gate with one hand, which is a lifesaver when I have my hands full.

The 9 cm extension was a necessary addition for my wider doorways and staircases, and it fit seamlessly with the gate, ensuring a snug and secure fit. The height of the gate is adequate, preventing my little explorer from attempting any climbing adventures.

Now, the only drawback I encountered was with the side extenders. While they served their purpose by extending the gate, I found that they were a bit loose and wobbly. It would be great if the extenders had a more secure connection to the gate, as this would eliminate any concerns I have about their stability. However, I must note that despite this minor issue, the gate itself remains firmly in place.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this gate to keep the dogs out of the kitchen and let the cat in for his food. The dogs immediately accepted the new situation but the cat was a little confused at first until he realised that it’s easy for him to jump up and over. I love the way the gate shuts itself so I don’t have to worry about it being open. It’s simple to put together and brace against the wall.

My dog suddenly went blind after a stroke and was scared to death he’d fall down the stairs , so got this stair gate. It’s been a life saver for him and also peace of mind for me. Very easy to install, used the extension that came with it and it’s still going strong. Also very easy to open unlike some stair gates. Handy being able to leave it open it needed, for example hoovering the stairs. Can see it being very useful for parents and pet owners

These gates are excellent value for money. They’ve made introducing a very lively and large puppy into the house lots easier than we thought. Getting the gate to fall into position requires patience but isn’t difficult and the fact that the gate can be pushed one way and will stay open is a bonus.
    Well worth it for puppies.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have other products from Hauck which I like so I chose this one and it is great! The pressure mechanism means no drills etc and also you can have the wall at different depths (we have a skirting board so the lower half has a different length compared to the top, unlike others where you have to have the top and bottom at the same depth). The self locking mechanism is really useful and it’s easy to open (for adults of course)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis baby gate is easy to install and use. I’ve seen some reviews that say it’s flimsy, but I think the open/close feature is light, rather than flimsy. Easy to open with one hand and love that it closes behind you. Great if you have your hands full.

It’s primary use for me is to keep the dogs from the kitchen and front door and secondary is to have a barrier for my 4 year old grandson. That said, he’s at the age where if he wanted to, he can open any baby gate, with a little effort.

    Very pleased with this purchase.

Not quite the quality of my previous Hauck safety gate. These are good gates which is why when I bought a new one I went for the same make. My previous one is still perfectly functional but I have had a complete house renovation and didn’t want a slightly chipped and battered gate!
I use it to keep my dogs enclosed in one room at night but I would thoroughly recommend for babies, children and old people. I help in a mother and toddler charity and we supply a lot of these to families in need.
The reason I said about it not being as good as my previous one is that the catch at the top seems more fragile and can be stiff and tricky to open. I use mine with padded wall pads so as not to damage the walls. But they are a good buy and I would recommend.

My gate came with missing parts (caps and sticky circle pads) however my order came so quick I hadn’t returned my other gate from them which was too big. I was able to use the parts in there to replace the missing parts in this item and set up straight away. I have now sent my previous order as a return as amazon didn’t make it clear which gate was the single extension and which was the double as there were 3 different options. Overall happy with the gate and how fast they came, even if there was missing parts 🙂

Quality is good.. my staircase is little wider so very difficult to install if you are using extension. Also have to be very careful while closing the door.. looks like its closed but its not.. my son has opened it couple of times.. i have researched a lot . I guess its one of the good options fir wider staircases.

This is a sturdy gate which worked well on our doorways and at the top of the stairs. However, our bottom stair post is sideways on to the opposite wall and we could not fix the gate against this as securely as we would wish. The instructions are largely pictorial and quite confusing. I had to resort to YouTube to see how it was put together, and it was ridiculously easy compared to the instructions that came with the gate!

Firstly this is one of three gates we bought for sectioning off the house for our new puppy (already 7.5kgs at 10 weeks)
    Good installation system.
The adjusters have indents every 1/4 turn so that there is very little risk of backing off (fixings going slack).
The gate will hold in the open position and the spring assist will help close the gate, just make sure nothing is in the way when doing this.
The latch system took a little bit to get used to but the fact that it locates at the bottom is a feature that other manufacturers don’t have (seem to use the drop-down legs).
The only drawback is that it is the lightest in terms of material that we had. Time will tell if stands up to our little Houdini as she grows bigger.

Well made and easy to install; just as well as instructions are a series of pathetic pictograms! My stairs are in between sizes (81cm) but can be made to fit. Don’t know about ‘age appropriate’ so gave 3 stars (average?) as the gate is for my dog who has been told by the vet not to go upstairs following an operation, so suitable for a 3 year old golden retriever i guess!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSome of the reviews on here are obviously written by absolute idiots. The product isn’t without its faults (I hate the return spring and it’s noisy) but overall it’s good.

Now for the idiot comment: the product arrives with the gate not meeting the latch point properly so it looks defective and warped. Funnily enough in big writing on the packaging it says that it should look like that until you properly install it and it’s not defective.
With the nature of this being a pressure fit gate, when you install this and apply pressure at either side the gap or “warped” bit starts to meet in the middle and the gate makes contact with the latch. Bingo! Took all of 5 minutes to read the instructions and install.
Good and sturdy but if that’s not good enough, you can use the included pads and screw (screws not included) them into the door frame adding an additional point to grip.

That’s about it, if you need a reasonably priced stair Gate and have more than 2 brain cells, this is decent enough.

Good value for money for the stairs, easy to install. The sticky pads are very strong so be aware that once they touch the wall you will struggle to remove it. Looks neat and a nice mat finish. The things i don’t like is that is making quite a lot of noise when opening and closing so most of the times is waking up the baby but i guess is a plus also as i will hear if she does go near the gate:). The other thing would be the locking mechanism as i would prefer for the actual pin to be longer, is not always locking when shutting the gate so i need to jiggle it little, but i got used to it now

5.0 out of 5 stars a good buy

This is excellent for what you pay.

One thing to note, the instructions show assembly of the gate being offset, and that it is intentional, but doesn’t show clearly how to realign it.

To ensure the gate closes, the four edges will have a screw with a spinner in them. The head of these screws go against the wall.
At this point the gate will be misaligned.
You then need to use the spinners to tighten up the gate, and by doing so bring the gate into alignment.

It does works perfectly fine, and comes with sticky pads for the screw head holders, but can also be screwed into the wall.

Gate was pretty much what I thought for price brought it to put on door to stop my dog from getting out. Easy to put together husband had to put tape round extended part of gate to door other wise it keep falling off And opening easy to do but bit hit or miss does what I need it for my dog. Did standard postage but came within two days. Over all good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Door Gate

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersWe purchased this gate specifically because each of the four anchor points (2 at the top, 2 at the bottom) are individuallt adjustable, and we needed this due to having skirtingboard on the stairs and an irregularly shaped baluster at the bottom of the stairs that we needed to fit the gate to.

It works great, but the instructions aren’t very good. They are the standard multi-lingual, multi-product ones where you have to work out which steps apply to the exact model you’ve bought, and there is very little text accompanying them. There may well be videos on YouTube that help. We purchased two – one for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom. The first one took about an hour to fit while I worked out what to do, but once I’d got the hang of it the second one took about 15 minutes!
