Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter loving the look of the Tripp trapp high chair and impressed with the reviews for it but being less impressed by the price, I decided to really look at other similar chairs that were more affordable and decided on the Huack alpha+ and I have zero negatives to say about it so far!

Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but like the Tripp trapp, I love that you can buy the additional tray and newborn seat if needed. We bought this for our baby at 6 months, so the newborn seat wasn’t required, though I did buy the additional tray which I highly recommend to others. The tray is quite structured and has a bar that goes between the baby’s legs, which really helped my little boy from slipping down as he is quite petite (<9th centile) and looks tiny compared to most conventional high chairs. But even when the high chair and tray has been used by my much bigger 18 month old nephew (99th centile), I would say getting the additional tray is still worth it as you can remove the tray for easy cleaning and the baby won't have smeared food over your dining room table, especially if you're following baby led weaning.

The chair itself is excellent quality and very sturdy but doesn't take up too much room and due to its design can be pushed in under the table (if not using the tray attachment.) My husband was able to assemble it easily enough, though did find that to fit the tray attachment he had to partly dissemble the chair to fit the tray attachment and then rebuild it, however this wasn't too much trouble and didn't take too long.

As no tiny nooks or crannies like in conventional high chairs, it's very easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth after use. Also lots of wipeable cushions that fit the Hauck alpha available on Amazon/other online retailers if you want your child to have some padding to make them more comfortable whilst in the chair.

Overall I love the chair and this has been one of my favourite baby purchases! Can't be beaten for the price.

It’s a great chair. The straps are very complicated to fit but we left they off as our granddaughter is to big now. But the bar is what holds her now. She can also sit at the table with us.

UPDATE: I have used the chair for a few months now. I was very disappointed by the paint chipping in the first few weeks but thought maybe we accidentally knocked it as it was the bottom by the feet. Fast forward a few months and the paint is chipped everywhere over the high chair and we are not heavy handed with it at all. Very disappointed in the poor finish.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I spent some time debating between this one and it’s super expensive alternative. Although I can’t compare them, I am extremely happy with this product.
My 14 month old sits very comfortably in it. It slide up to the table perfectly and he gets to feel like he is eating with us. It’s very sturdy.
Easy to assemble and very quick.

A very high quality wooden chair that does everything that one three times the price does. Assembly is a bit challenging because the images aren’t that clear . The tip is not not tighten up the screws until everything is assembled .

Simple and lovely. I got bouncer for newborn separately. I like the fact that it will last long and I don’t need to buy another think in 6 months. Pretty good quality for the price. Easy to assembled. Sustainable. Love it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe bought this item months ago and it was a game changer. Really happy with the overall quality. The only drawback is how ridiculously expensive any of the accessories are and the seat needs better back support as my infant is always in a slouch due to the curve of the back. Otherwise we’re very happy with i

I love it very much. It is very comfortable for my baby and myself. Now she can sit beside a table as all families members 🙂
It’s very good price and quality for this chair if you don’t want to spend more money on Stokke like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent wooden high chai

This chair is excellent value and looks well. It’s not as well built as some of the more expensive brands but that was to be expected.

I bought this for my baby with the newborn insert and it’s fab! Just like the Tripp trapp but a fraction of the price! We use it daily and have just upgraded to the tray for weaning and love that too. I was surprised it didn’t have a harness but with the tray you’d have to be pretty acrobatic to get out of it. We’ve used it for 8 months straight now and I always recommend to new mums

Easy to assemble, sturdy and easy to clean! Been using for my 2 YO son. I don’t know if it will fit him when he grow up, as now it’s already take a while to get his legs in.
But for now, it’s worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the fourth Hauck chair (and seventh of this style) I have owned. They fit from when your baby can sit until they are grown. Very good quality. As a fostercarer we need a chair that fits different sized children, these work great, easy and quick to adjust. Only problem for me is the kids take them with them when they leave! The hard plastic feet are a bit slippy on our hard floor, so I change them for felt pads, but they are perfectly OK on carpet.
I recommend these. And will probably be buying more in the future.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOk, so you don’t want to pay 300 to get a high chair? Well, me neither, and it seems that this chair is a good choice for this.
Just keep in mind that this is not the tripptrapp high chair:
    – it’s not the same quality, this (Hauck Alpha) is quality plywood, not 100% hard wood.
    – there is a steel reinforcement bar inside that is not present on the tripptrapp, and this bar makes it impossible to put the seat pane at a normal height, meaning you can’t use it for an older child or an adult.
    – the seat pane and the “stepper” pane can move (they are not locked)
So keep thta in mind when buying it. Outside of this, it’s a great chair.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest investment ever!! I originally had one that clips to table but my baby boy was getting to heavy for it and would bounce!!! Afraid of an accident happening I did a lot of research and concluded that Huack alpha would be the best high chair to buy for a decent price and would last for a very very long time (as a previously looked at ones that turn into toddler chairs but wouldn’t last til 3 years old as my baby is quite big) I would forget all the other brands and other fancy ones and would highly recommend this Alpha chair!!!! You can buy other accessories with it to your tastes or needs! I am soo happy with it and soo is baby! He is safe and secure in it and doesn’t mind sitting in it for his meals. I bought the tray with it as well which is a lifesaver!! Buy it. Buy it buy it!!!!!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWhat a faff to assemble! Once assembled, my baby absolutely loved it so all good!
You need a lot of patience with this item! Every time I was trying to assemble the backrest which has 2 parts, one would always fall out whilst assembling the other…. got there in the end tho.
Also need to mention that there are no indication of how far the seat plate and foot rest is supposed to go so you sort of have to guess.
I got the grey one and when putting on and removing the tray base ( bought separately) the paint chipped on the first go, I thought it would be a bit better quality.
Don’t get me wrong, the chair itself is amazing and sturdy, just the way it needs to be assembled is a nightmare…
it is worth the money as my boy is very happy in it!!!

Have just started using the chair and my six month old seems very happy with it. With the cushions front and back (sold separately to the chair), he is comfortable sitting in it while I’m getting his food ready and for quite a while after he’s eaten and I’m cleaning up. He sits right up to the table, like the rest of the family. The chair itself was fairly simple to assemble, but the instructions for fitting the 5-point harness are incomprehensible. The chair feels very solid and is not an unattractive addition to the dining room. Has most of the plusses of the Tripp Trapp but for a reasonable price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe Pros:
    – Easy to build
    – Looks nice and fits under the table like a normal chair
    – Grows with the child so you’ll get a good few years of use from it
    – Very good price compared to the extremely similar Stokke Tripp Trapp

    The Cons:
    – Depending in your floor surface it’s easy for child to pull up the feet and push chair so it slides away and then brace their feet and push so chair tips backwards.
    – When seat is at highest level the gap between seat and back support bar is just large enough to get a food firmly stuck as my child managed to do – ended up having to quickly loosen all the bolts and deconstruct the chair to release. So be alert!

Golden Review Award: 49 From Our UsersWe have a Tripp trapp for my older son and I can’t see much of a difference in quality between the two. My almost 2 year old was escaping from his small plastic high chair and slipping the straps – he can safely climb up and down onto this, but the five point harness provided also means he can’t get out if we don’t want him down. It took 5/10 minutes to put together with no instructions (turns out they are between the two seat pieces!)- all with an alan key which is provided.
Putting it next to the TT I would say the top seat height is about an inch lower, but I don’t think that affects the baby bit as that seems to clip in differently if you’re using it. My son is quite short (80cm) and it is high enough for him to be comfortably sat at the table. I would also note that the TT comes with two plastic extensions to stop it tipping on the high settings – presumably because of the Z shape. There is no need for anything like that on this as it has a much more sturdy design. It does come with a bar across the front, but my son is too big for that. Would be great for a one year old though.
I also like that it doesn’t look as though we have one expensive chair and one cheaper one! They look nice next to each other.

I actually love this product, but what I didn’t love what putting it together. It’s almost and impossible task when you actually have a little one. I suppose it will be quite easy to change the height etc as you simple unscrew the sides a little so no loose bolts floating around. The foot rest and the seat are not attached with any hardware they sit in grooves (down the sides) and are held in by tension, they are very secure though so don’t let this put you off. It’s a fantastic high chair and great value for money compared to other leading brands. I wish there was more options for seat inlays, I am not sure if Hauck make them but I have seen some here and there on the internet that I think are handmade. Easy to clean and easy to operate the harness.
