I am using this cable to connect my parents HDMI graphic card to a monitor that is only VGA/DVI.
Their PC does not have a DVI output on the graphic card and it has been using the HDMI connector.
Last week, their monitor broke, and I have a nice DVI/VGA monitor in perfect condition that doesn’t have a HDMI input. This cable allows me to connect the HDMI from the graphic card to the DVI monitor.
I am running it at 1080p and the picture is perfect, do not expect to get 4k as DVI is not capable of that and has a maximum of 2560 x 1600.
The cable is solid and works perfectly, I highly recommend it.
Handy for an older GPU card with DVI output to a newer HDMI monitor.
It just works, very handy
The cables look gold I really love gold but I hope its 24k Gold otherwise steel and low quality gold there is no difference or negligible. I got my old computer dvi-D port to TV and monitor through hdmi port, this can be good for me because if my monitor breaks the only way to use this old pc is through hdmi port, and this saves me getting an adapter. So far its good quality but the cable length could have been longer. until I can test gold plated material I’ll have to hope these companies use 24k Gold.
My monitor has VGA and DVi-D ports and hdmi ports so if for some reason the DVI VGA port is damaged can use hdmi port thanks to this, so all good. Now just have to move TV closer to the pc cause this cable isn’t exactly long at 3 metres.
Rhino cables seem to offer a range of basic and traditional cables and connectors.
This cable comes in ABS plastic and has gold connectors, I ran it from my DVI-D port, two monitor set-up to an HDMI connector on the monitor.
Equally I could have run it the other way around, ie DVI-D on the monitor to HDMI on the PC, were the port not already occupied.
DVI-D is an older standard and doesn’t support the higher resolutions, but for 1080p PC monitor use, it is sufficient.
I have the 3m cable, but perhaps the best thing is the range of cables offered, up to 20m.
It works. Picture is good and solid, and couldn’t expect more.
This cable will allow you to use a monitor with a DVI connector with a PC, Laptop or other device that has HDMI outputs. It is bidirectional, so will also allow you to connect a DVI graphics card to an HDMI monitor.
Be aware that the cable can only work within the limitations of the hardware – DVI-D is capable of 1080p at 144Hz, and ‘2K’ or 1440p at lower refresh rates. You won’t get a 4K picture using this cable, because the DVI interface can’t support it. That’s not the cable’s fault.
I plugged my old and trusty 23″ monitor, which only has DVI and VGA sockets into my laptop’s HDMI port, and it worked immediately. I could mirror the screens, or span them into one desktop, as you can see from my photos. This is extremely good news, as it means I can use my old monitor with my Raspberry Pi, as you can see. To connect to my Pi400’s Micro-HDMI socket, I had to add an HDMI to Micro-HDMI adaptor, and it still worked perfectly.
I also tested the cable the other way by connecting it between the DVI-out of my test-bed PC and the HDMI-in of my 1440p gaming monitor. That worked as expected – perfectly. The old GPU in my test computer can only output 1080p 60Hz, so that’s what I got on the monitor.
The cable is good quality, with gold-coloured terminals and robust connectors. The DVI plug screws on securely.
Highly recommended – does exactly what it’s supposed to with no fuss.
