I love the minimalist design of this tape measure! I was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s actually a dark blue color or navy blue, not black (which is what I was expecting from looking at the pictures). It’s also really easy to operate by making use of just the one and only button that it has, which instead of the much more common and boring push to lock type of system, it acts as a brake release to reel it back in after extending it. I find that the actual tape measure itself is actually quite easy to read with black measurement markings on a solid white strip (in inches & centimeters).
I would’ve liked it to have had a clip of some kind (for carrying it on a belt), or even just a couple of pre-threaded holes on the side for attaching some sort of clip like the ones that are on my EDC knives, but it does have two small holes along the edge where you can put a lanyard through it — although I found it quite a bit difficult to actually get even the thinnest of looped string through them when I tried it.
But it’s definitely a great little tape measure and IMHO it’s totally worth it!
Bought this tape for its sleek design. Used it several times so far. Unfortunately, the plastic finish scratches fairly easily, even leaving barely noticeable marks from a fingernail. Perhaps it will look great again after even wear.
If you need a lightweight tape measure to use often, this is an excellent tape measure. Sure you can get one for $3, but using this multiple times a day makes me appreciate the design, Recommended
Update: after using this a while, I do not find it to be easy to read for precise measurements. The reason is that at every foot, there is a very large icon that blocks the 1/16th inch marks for 3/16″ around each foot mark. Dinged it one star for that. Very easy to read incorrectly if something measures near a foot marker (1′, 2′,…).
Usually I just buy whatever tape measure is on sale at the big box store but I’d heard good things about this one and I needed a smaller tape for around the house. I could easily buy two lufkin or stanleys for this price but dang I like this thing!
The auto lock works great, it has an easy 56″ stand out, it’s easy to read and you can mark the blade with pencil and the best part, no belt clip. Nothing to snag or press into your hand, and you can measure up against a wall or obstruction much more easily.

I wanted a nice tape measure for wargaming that didn’t feel cheap in the hand. This one has great balance and it returns quickly but not forcefully. No complaints at all, I even painted it!
I’ve been looking for a tape measure to fit into a very shallow drawer at my desk. I need metric and imperial measurements. I had settled on the Starrett in the picture. Even with the over molding and belt clip removed on that one it was about 0.01″ too tall. Been meaning to knock the case down with some sandpaper until I found this one from HOTO. It is 0.030 slimmer with the rubber over molding and belt clip removed from the Starrett. Meanwhile, the tape is wider and easier to read.
It feels good in the hand. There is no clip, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Works well, is very accurate and feels great in my hand.
Also it looks nice! Since it sits on my kitchen counter because I use it sooo often, it’s just good to not have it look like it belongs in the tool box.
I have a lot of tape measures all over the place but this is the one I keep at my desk.
– Small and plastic but has some weight and does not seem cheap.
– Locking mechanism works well.
This is just a sweet tape. No clip, no padding, no writing really except for a tiny, discreet designer name. It’s self-locking with a simple thumb release, and so far, the self-locking feature works very well. I’ve had other tapes with this feature and after a bit of use, the tape starts to creep back in before you release it.
Smooth case feels good in the hand and slips nicely into a pocket. May not be for you if you’re building houses, but for a general-purpose tape to keep in the drawer or glove compartment, (or to make you look classy if you’re a Hollywood set designer or something) it’s perfect.
