The lawnmower was delivered a couple of days after ordering, well done Amazon, and two days later I was mowing the lawn. It was simple to assemble and the instructions were comprehensive and easy to follow. The mower is straightforward to use and the self propulsion makes the task much easier. When she saw it, my wife even admired its looks.
I brought this after having had a mountfield with a briggs and stratton engine, this works a treat for my garden. Mulching option is great to save on having to stop to empty the grass espescially for larger gardens like mine. Easy to assemble and saved me some trouble having been supplied with bottle of oil
Only had it a day so far, and it’s OK. Quick and easy assembly if you are mechanically inclined. Started immediately and continues to do so.
Construction is typical mass produced format—completely dry assembly. You really need to grease things when you assemble it to prevent wear, especially on parts like cable ends. The best thing would be to dismantle and lubricate all fasteners and reassemble. Remember this is for outdoor use.
It’s heavy and a bit awkward to manoeuvre. The dead man’s handle means you are forever pulling the start cable whenever you have to empty the grass box (which is a decent size and fills OK) or pull a weed, move something I might come back and update this after a couple of years of use to see how it’s held up. There are some parts that look like they’ll not live more than a few years. I can’t see me using this in 5-10 years time like the old Hayter I had.
This item was used for the first time today, and after adding oil and fuel it started on the second pull of the cord. I was mowing a large area, and despite only having a 1 litre fuel tank it didn’t need refuelled.
Other than having to read the cable attachment instructions a few times for the info to sink in and the grass box needing a little leverage to get it to fit probably due to how it was packed in the box, it was relatively straight forward to set up.
The product feels solid and most importantly the cut is excellent. The primer did needed approx 10 pumps to get the fuel through so the initial engine start took a while but now starts first time every time.
The drive engagement is a little fierce first time round so be prepared for it to pull away sharply, you get used to it though.
Occasionally the self propelling function doesn’t seem to go, but I think that’s more often I have some uneven ground.
The increments between the middle setting could be better, as I find it either just a bit too low or high, as I live in a drought area, so want to be careful not to cut too short.
But those are the only drawbacks, and they’re definitely liveable with how well this lawnmower does.
It cuts really well, is easy to use and is quite a workhorse as I have a lot of grass to cut.
I don’t recommend going over bricks, as this munts the blade and does something underneath to make it catch.
This is probably about the tenth large hard item I have run over, but it had coped with all the previous ones, just chipping the blade a bit.
If I have to get a new one, which looks likely, I will get one of these again.
its a good mower just wish the height setings where the universal. its either too high a cut or too low. also the petrol cap isnt great as it can be over tightened and just spin. other than that its a good mowe
The instruction manual contained pages of repetitive safety information. Does not encourage you to read it through. The actual instruction when you get to it appeared clear, until it came to the mulcher. This was very stiff and difficult to remove if you did not want to use it. Starts well, but ignore cleaning the blade area after use at your peril, or you will not start it the next time. Good when you get it going but not for novice motor lawn mower users
Bought as a replacement for a Qualcast mower that didn’t pick up the grass very well, put together in no time, put the oil and fuel in and started 1st pull, gut the grass which normally would fill 2 grass boxes, I couldn’t believe it still wasn’t full, I looked inside box to find it was empty, I had forgot to take the mulching plug out, was cut so fine I couldn’t tell it had been mulching, incredible, tried with normal use a few days later, picked up the grass brilliantly, very pleased with purchase.
Hub caps come off VERY easily. Grips to keep mower motor running and the machine moving are VERY tight indeed. Not sure I would want to use this for an extended period of time as my hands would get cramp.
Update in July. SERIOUSLY UNDERPOWERED and grass collection mechanism is pretty useless. OK if your grass never grows but if, like me, your grass grows then avoid as well before the grass hopper fills up the mower will come to a grinding standstill. Have to say rubbish when compared to my old Izzy by Honda.
Spend more money and get a decent machine.
Runs & drives really well, great having the side discharge for when you don’t want to use he grass bag. Easy height adjustment.
Not the easiest to start as you need to use the priming button even when warm, a throttle/ choke control would have been nice. Also I can see the hooks on the discharge guide not lasting. But overall for the money a good mower.
My only cons would be the weight as at 37KG it is heavy and to mow the front I have to carry it down a couple of steps, also the when adding the oil it didnt tell me how much it would take but did tell you to not over fill the oil, would be easier to just say how much oil to put in.
Ive been a victim of buy cheap buy twice, three times in fact, after struggling with my electric mowers seizing up and needing emptying every 2 minutes i finally pulled the trigger.
Was a toss up between two similar priced models, this one won as the reviews made it seem easier to build (which it was).
Quite self explanatory but as newb i sacked off the instructions and watched an unboxing and assembly video on youtube. Helped a lot.
I can’t compare it to other petrol lawnmowers but this kicks the s%$t out of my electric, i learnt that mulching is a thing so i didn’t even need to empty it. Blitzed my garden in no time (can take 45 mins plus with the electric) and was no effort at all.
AND the height adjustment means the grass is slightly longer than when the electric gave it a shave and it looks twice as healthy a day after the cut.
Delivery time was crazy, It arrived next day, before the money was even taken out of my account!?!
300 is expensive, but its super worth it. I’m just annoyed that i didn’t buy it years ago
Harsh, but drops a star as i had to use youtube to build it.
You have to put the handle together and connect the cables but this is easier than you think. Then fill with oil and petrol and you are off. Easy to start, it propels itself and you just walk behind and steer. The grass collector is a good size and easy to remove for emptying. I purchased this for my front lawn as my electric hover mower gave up last week but have also used it for other areas in the garden rather than getting out the ride-on. It arrived within 3 days of ordering which is great, despite an issue with the tracking company. One contact to the seller and they responded immediately then phoned me on the day of delivery to let me know it was coming. Great service!
It’s very easy to change the cutting height. Nice not to have to alter every wheel individually. It pulls itself along at a nice steady pace and so won’t run away with you. It is also relatively easy to push manually around the tricky areas. It collects a lot more grass than my previous mower so not so many trips to the compost bin.
I’ve only used it once so far but I would recommend this for a medium sized garden with a lot of lawn. I’m hoping it will also do a good job of mulching the fallen leaves.
Great looking mower easy to start, cuts well and easy to manoeuvre. It was fiddly to assemble with the engine cut out and drive cables not being connected to the lever arms. Can’t see how the handles fold as illustrated on the amazon page and the grass box needed assembling which wasn’t mentioned in the instructions. The box it arrived in looked as though it had been thrown around the lorry. The instructions say tools are included (spark plug wrench) but there aren’t any. And a couple of small bits of plastic in the bag of handle bolts remain of unknown purpose. The amazon info mentions a wash port but the instructions don’t so a bit confusing. Having said all that it seems to cut well and as long as it doesn’t fall apart looks good. Only time will tell. My last mower has bee retired after nearly 30 years so it has a challenging act to follow.
The machine is pretty easy to assemble if you watch the video. It is so bulky really needs two people to lift it onto a bench, but this isn’t necessary as it assemble at ground level quite easily. Watch the UTube video as the manual photographs are rudimentary and small.
The machine started easily on first pull. For the first cut on longish grass/weeds, it did a good job. It has a long base so turning is not as easy as with the old Suffolk mower. No doubt the handlebar that you need to hold against the frame is an EC safety regulation designed to prevent the careless and idiots from injury; but it means it is more difficult, but not impossible, to control the precise speed of movement. handlebar clenched, clutch operates and machine moves forward, release and the engine stops.
I have a pretty rough lawn which needed a first season cut. Used the highest level and it did a good job, I am satisfied that when I mow in a day or so at a lower height it will be just as good.
The build quality overall was good. so pleased with the product.
Cons I would have preferred to have had a better or finer control of the speed of movement. I think it was good value for money and should last years.
Iv had this out twice now and it seems to do a good job..
They say this uses less fuel but it uses pritty much same amount of fuel of my 4year lawnmower
Using this you must make sure the grass is dry otherwise it clogged up…I was cutting grass last week and it was a hot day and been dry for a few days but I had a 5min shower but I was half way threw cutting so I continued and it was clogging up and wheels spin alo
Hyundai are not one of the better known mower manufacturers (to me anyway) but I drive a Hyundai car and have been very impressed by the build quality and value for money so I thought I’d see if this was matched in their mowers.
Initial impression was very positive. The machine seems well-designed and robust, easy to assemble and started with a single pull on the cord. Unlike the honda there is no choke or speed control, just a couple of presses on a bulb to prime the carb and away you go.
Cutting height adjustment is easy. The grass in my lawn was quite long – about 3-4 inches – and I found that the mower struggled to manage this on the lowest setting so I had to mow it in two stages, with which it coped easily.
Having now done several cuts I’m very pleased with the purchase, as for the machine’s durability, time will tell. It does seem strong and well-built though so I’m optimistic that it will last many years – and I won’t be leaving petrol in the tank over winter again!
