Purchased this product for my grandson who loves playing The London Game at our house so thought this would be a good 7-yr old birthday present – a bit differe
We live this game. Everyone ends up laughing and it’s incredibly brutal, which I love.
We love this game !board to small, used to have this game in the
past and board much better size
Lots of fun playing this over Xmas the only drawback is that the train tokens for each player are too big and don’t fit on your current site on the board very easily
This was a present for my daughter. We played it at christmas and looking forward to playing it again. Stick with out to get to know the ins and outs of it. Love it.
It’s the game we wanted to try so can’t complain. Board is a little bit too small which makes knowing which station you’re at a bit awkward but can work around tha
Love this game. Played it a lot when I was a kid but it got thrown away before a house move. Nice to get the updated version. All my family love it and it is suitable for all ages. My 8 year old nephew likes playing it and so does my 80 year old father. Worth the money.
I bought one my husband and I loved the game, it was educational as well as fun. Bought one for 13 year old grandson and we now play each other over Skype. It has been a brilliant purchase.
This is an excellent wee game. My sons have really enjoyed it, and it’s a great educational game, helping them learn various locations around Britain.
It’s fun to play, makes the kids think about a strategy, whether to make that run to John O’Groats or Stornoway, or knock off the South England locations first. Add in the amusement factor of the hazard cards, making people join you for you birthday, or sending them to Waterford, has made this a really entertaining game in our house.
Only niggle is that the board is a bit cramped, difficult when there are various trains in the same space/area. Bigger board or smaller pieces might have helped things a bit.
Good game, slightly random but if you embrace the randomness you can have a lot of fun. My kids (6 and 8) like it and maybe they’ll even learn where some British towns are too. The cards aren’t as well made as I’d like, hard to shuffle and tear easily.
A fold out map of Britain. Little model trains. Two packs of cards – who would have thought these ingredients could make for such a fun game.
There’s no money in this game, just a random selection of British & Irish attractions to visit and the 1920s railway network to navigate on the way round.
So far, so ho-hum – what makes this game great is the Hazard Cards, which have passed into family legend – “Enticed to fish: Go to Grimsby” and “Bored with modern architecture: Visit Brighton” are just two of them.
Other reviewers have mentioned loving this game in its original incarnation. Me too. I bought this modern, slightly more luxurious edition for my nephew, who loved playing it 20 years ago. To watch his fiance, from Belfast, struggle to locate the attractions was a hoot.
As I said, this is great family fun, and perfect for detaching children from their electronic devices.
I LOVED playing this game as a kid so was excited to see it available to buy on Amazon. I have bought this for my nieces for Christmas and can’t wait to give it them. ..I only hope they enjoy it as much as me and their mum used to!!! It is a really entertaining game and one of those rate ones which manages to hold the interest of different age groups of children. It’s fast moving enough that there’s not chance to get fed up, and, despite the picture on the front of box, isn’t at all ‘trainspotter-y’. It is educational too, but stealthily so, so that it won’t make the kids turn their noses up at it.
Oh, delivery was fast by the way.
We had the original version of the game and loved it. Great way to get to know Great Britain. The only trouble with this one is that they made the board smaller to fit in the standard box and so it gets a bit crowded getting around the board. They should make the pieces you move around smaller. We gave it to our grandchildren who live in the USA so they get to know Britain.
I have played this board game with a friend since I was a child, but my friend’s version (I think an edition from the 1970’s) had a much larger board. This made the map easier to read, and the pieces could fit better on the stations. The game itself is my very favourite ever. It’s easy for people of all ages to learn, but it is also fun for people of all ages to play. It is a different game every time, and it is just as fun, whether played by two players, four, or even the maximum of seven.
The artwork on this newer edition is great, and I’ve always enjoyed reading all the information about different places of interest across England, Scotland and Ireland. I just wish the board wasn’t so small and cramped.
