Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was prompted by Amazon to rate this board game on ‘sheerness’, which presented me with an interesting dilemma. To be clear, this board game is not sheer. My first instinct was to give it 1 out of 5 for this reason. On further reflection I considered my expectations when purchasing the product. I had not expected that the board game of Danny Dyer’s hit BBC gameshow ‘The Wall’ to be sheer in any way. So in many respects the lack of sheerness was entirely in keeping with my understanding of the product at point of purchase. This led me to rate ‘sheerness’ as 5 stars. Please do not purchase if you expect the product to be sheer. Do purchase if you are seeking to play the ultimate game of risk and reward with friends and/or family

Loved the TV version. Loved the board game but it is complicated!

We love this programme, and really enjoyed playing the game. Because the questions give you AB, or ABC answer. Means all the family can join in.

We even played it over zoom with the family. Which was good fun. We had a good laugh. Just adapted it slightly to make it work.

The best thing about the TV phenomenon that is the Wall is, of course, the host. Danny Dyer is the world’s angriest man, his fury directed at the titular wall. DROP IT! YOU MUG! I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU TONIGHT, YOU MUPPET!! He genuinely seems to hate his own show, and treats the wall as if it has recently run over his dog. It’s great.

And now you can play at home. Everything is present and correct. On a slightly less impressive scale than the TV show, obviously, but everything is here. There is quite a lot of admin to keep track of where the balls go and how much you win and lose, but it’s fun.

But the main part is having a few drinks and living out your Danny Dyer impression. That bit is ACE

Brilliant game – it takes a while to get your head around the instructions (even when you’ve watched the show) but it is worth it. You also need a calculator to add up your totals.

We got this game for Christmas, and we’re having a wonderful time playing it. The whole family has been involved and it’s a really fun experience. The rules are slightly different from the TV show, but it follows the same broad format, and works really well. Nice to see my kids playing as a team and thinking through the answers to questions.
So I give this game a high recommendation, it’s far from dull, and as in the TV game, the suspense continues right until the end, when you have to decide whether to sign or rip up the contract. It’s a gamble, as you have absolutely no idea how much money is on your wall.
Great game, and well worth the money, has given us a lot of fun over Christmas.

Lots of steps but a fun game to play. Played it slightly differently than suggested on the instructions with a ‘presenter’ so as to make it less confusing. Came the next day with prime, so delivery was spot on.

I’ve never watched The Wall before so I really wasn’t sure how to play this game but it’s easily explained in the instructions. This game is suitable for 2-6 players aged 10+ (although my 10 year old did struggle without help)
This game comes with over 500 questions and 4 small balls that drop into the money slots when you answer a question correctly. They can land in any amount so the higher the better. But if you answer wrong then you lose money. This game has 3 rounds and took about an hour to complete. Great lockdown game and you don’t have to watch the TV show to be able to do this game. More suited for adults in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe don’t watch a lot of terrestrial TV so had never heard of this game show before. So was intrigued as to how it would play in a family setting. There is a bit of setting up to do before you start but the instructions were clear.
The first game I played was with my 9 year old and he absolutely loved it. He loved watching the balls tumble down each turn and wishing them into the high money amounts if he got the questions correct or the low denominations if he thought the answer was incorrect. The ball dropper works very well and it’s quite random where the balls land adding to the excitement.
We still haven’t watched the actual game show but have played this quite a few times now and we are still yet to have the same questions come back around.
I imagine once you know all the questions you could make up your own but to be honest it will take you a long time to go through them all.
We thoroughly enjoyed the game and I guess if your a fan of the show you would probably love it even more. It would make a nice gift for someone who enjoys watching the show or even someone whose into different games.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe game states it is for 2-6 players, however you can just add more people to each team if you have more than 6 players.

    Pros:
    – Nice family board game. Get ready for some competative bickering!!
    – “The wall” functions well and adds a nice dimension to the game. Kids will love putting the balls at the top and watching them bounce down the wall.
    – 110 question cards, so plenty to keep you going. They are also easy to read and the answers are clear.

    Cons:
    – The rules are not exactly like the gameshow. That being said, there is nothing stoping you use the gameshows format.
    – The carboard sides are a bit unecessary and are held on by sliding the carboard between winged tabs. But I suppose they are there to try and visually replicate the shows wall as much as possible.

I hope you find this review helpful.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlthough I’ve not watched the TV show with Danny Dyer upon which this is quiz game based on you can still get into the game quite quickly and enjoy it once you’ve learned the rules.

The game is for 2-6 players and with a set of question cards for each of the 3 rounds, the wall, four small balls, contract tubes and score sheet with tear off contract.

Each player is on their own playing against the other playing answering questions which will then determine how much you have won or lost. At the end of the 3 rounds one player will ultimately accumulate the most money and therefore win the game ta da!

If you like quiz games you will likely enjoy this game. The only caveat I have is I feel it will be better suited to adults rather than children given the nature of the game and the type of questions.

A cross between the Japanese pinball game Pachinko and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, this is a multiple-choice general knowledge quiz with a twist, in that the cash prizes are dependent on which slot your ball ends up in after its been through the maze of the Pachinko board.

In the way that TV game shows have tended to become more complicated in the never-ending search for novelty, the game is a little complex to understand have you not seen the show, but the 500 questions are varied and challenging, and the random element of the prize and the ball zigging and zagging down the gameboard does lend a genuine element of fun and suspense. Also, Danny Dyer is one of the easiest people to imitate, so you can add your own commentary. It takes about an hour to play a full game, and the board itself is a good size.

The construction of the board is just OK, with self assembly tabbed laminate cardboard elements which are going to look a bit ramshackle after a while.

However, overall a good reconstruction of a TV show for fans to play at home.

4.0 out of 5 stars Up against The Wall.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy parents enjoy watching the wall on tv (I’ve got to admit, Ive never seen it though) and as winter is setting in, corona virus is curbing our socialising and the evenings are getting longer and darker, I thought they may enjoy a games night a couple of nights a week, and what better, then to bring them their own wall game!
As I don’t watch the wall, I did find the rules a little complicated but I soon got the hang of it. It’s a 2-6 player game and you do need to be at a table to play. You will also need a pen for the score sheet. There are over 500 questions, so if you’re feeling lazy, and don’t want to move from your comfy chair, it’s just as fun to have a question and answer session.
All four of us enjoyed this game (our age range 30-80) some questions are very easy, some hard. I think at the moment, with life being so curtailed, anything that can occupy a few mundane hours is a big YES from me and this game proved a great success with my family!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOrdered this as we’re a big fan of Trivia games and was hoping this would be a good adaptation of the TV show.

The game is for 2-6 players and takes around half an hour to play. Teams play against each other and you have to answer questions and right or wrong and the result of that will tell you how much money you’d win or lose that round.

You play the game via 3 rounds ending with the drop out zone.

There’s 110 question cards which have plenty of replayability and depends on your general knowledge for trivia games. The game only has 4 balls, which are quite small and can be easily lost. I wouldn’t say it’s an exact copy of the game, as the game show runs over 4 rounds instead of 3 for example.

It’s still alot of run and emulates what the original game show on TV offers. Overall a good amount of fun considering the price.

The packaging for the box isn’t great, as putting away can be a faff. Why couldn’t the box just open like all other board games instead of opening a flap from the top of the box.

    Pros
    Great fun for family
Plenty of question cards for replayability

    cons
Not an exact copy of the game, that said, it’s a good emulation of the game
The components aren’t screaming top quality, just a bit of cheap plastic
Packaging isn’t great for putting away

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Trivia game based on the TV Show, fun for the family
