Why isn’t the IIWEY-EY02 Wi-Fi name appearing on my Android phone after hearing the voice prompt “Recording Start”?

Can I directly connect this dash cam to the car battery to record 24/7?
Sure, we recommend this hard wire kit: B0BG5LZP2M. If you wish to record 24/7, please connect the constant power wire and ground wire. If you only need the dash cam recording when it detect a collision, please connect constant wire, ACC, ground wire.
Does the dash cam has in-built battery?
Nope, this dash cam use a super-capacitor instead of Lithium_battery, which has a longer lifespan and more powerful.
Do I need to keep the dashcam wifi connected at all times to use it?
No, you only need to connect the dash cam wifi when you want to check the videos or set up the dash cam. It automatically start recording when you turn on the engine, and you can hear the voice prompt ‘Recording Start’.

I bought this for my daughter and I thought that it was so good that I bought one for myself. Fit it in your car and forget about it, until you really need it. Picture quality is excellent.
I’ve found this an excellent item very easy to install & straight forward to connect to wi fi & start recording, you can just install the front facing camera if you don’t need a rear camera.
It is a very good dash cam and easy to install and to use the app, but as I don’t drive at night a can’t say anything about the night vision at this time
I purchased 2 of these and if honest I am very pleased the the performance on the front and rear cameras .they do what you require and the app works ok sometimes can be slow connecting the app needs to open quicker without having to wait for the home page to open. Otherwise all ok.
You need to be very close to download to your phone, Rear camera kept falling off but stuck on well now with double sided tape. Front Camers try to get it right first time as that sticks solid and is difficult to remove, all in all a good piece of kit.
I have tried this camera before fitting properly as instructions suggest. App and WiFi setup are easy. No display on the camera, so you need the app to see what you are recording and to know its working. The SD card that is ‘free’ with the camera does not work; you cannot format it, and you cannot open it using laptops etc… (it just does not work). So another SD card for 10+ is needed. Have not fully installed yet so not sure how sensitive the parking mode or G sensor is ye
I purchased mine for a company vehicle and it is my first one where you use WiFi to access the camera.
In the first week of having it, I needed to download some footage for both the front and rear. Although the download took a while, it was easy to use and of a really good quality.
The quality of video is very good and video is very clear and you can hear the voice from the record is very clear as well. You can also record front and back which is very good.
This camera system is easy to install, I used the hard wire kit to ensure it has the parking guard enabled. One point to note is that the rear camera has to be installed in a particular direction as there is no flip mode on the app to flip the video feed. Bizarrely there is a flip left/right (mirror effect) but no vertical flip. So i had to remove and reinstall it the other way around to resolve the problem.
I emailed the manufacturer to see if the flip can be added to the app and to get the latest firmware but they have said they cant add to the app (not sure why?) and have not given me the link to download latest firmware so the voice activated features mentioned in the listing are not available.
I have trailed using the OBD port with a different make charger, but it didn’t work and kept running my battery down in my new Merc. It’s nothing like to do with the dash cam, as I think that is good. I just couldn’t find a ignition live at the front of my car without taking it apart, all the ignition lives are in the boot.

I drive a lot now so needed a decent dash cam for the “just in case”
Decent length wire to feed through to the back for the rear cam and strong adhesive to stick it where you need it. Connects east enough to your phone and saves all videos at 1min intervals so it’s easy to find the footage you need. You can then save to your mobile device in the photo album.
I’ve been contacted by their support team on this issue of the device not keeping date/time. Support supplied a replacement unit suspecting that it could be a faulty battery and I’m seeing if the new device maintains date and time. I’m happy with the fact that their team contacted me which is actually a LOT better than you’d from other brands. I’ll update this review again after a week or so.
It’s important to check the device via the phone app is keeping date and time since it date stamps the recorded files based on this setting.

Good quality video, I had double checked while the device wasn’t in the car on how the loop recording worked, e.g. SD card fills up it starts back from scratch.. so it was all ok..
The device powers up, says recording start… Every time.. have done lots of long distance trips etc…
And then just this weekend.. I had a possible claim on two local buses which cut me up on a tight bend unable to see on coming traffic (me), they were turning into the bend at speed down hill forcing me into curb side and bushes. It’s ok I thought I’ve got it all on the camera… Connected to the device – Absolutely nothing ! It appeared to stop loop recording back last year in 2022 !! Absolutely pointless!
Don’t trust when it says ‘recording start’
After receiving the goods can not wait to install it, the installation process is simple and easy to use.
The appearance is clean and beautiful, and there is no problem in the material. After a few days to evaluate, easy to operate, high resolution, clear image, wide Angle of view, cost is worth it. Recommended purchase.
This dashcam is really helpful ive fitted it in my car didnt take long at all, the video quality is very good easy to use and can be set up within minutes, im really happy with my purchase looking at the price of this it is a very good dash cam very value for money. Im cery happy with my purchase
Good fit and forget option for my Motorhome as it fits out of my line of sight, behind the rear view mirror. Modern styling and very discreet…the only thing visible from outside the cab is the white adhesive pad. Updated to the latest firmware with help from IIwey technical support, so the device now supports instant photo and instant video lock using voice commands. Not used at nighttime so can’t comment on night vision capabilities. 4k front view camera seems good; records at 24fps in 4k. Hopefully the super-cap back up supply is capable of withstanding the summer sun as I intend to leave it fixed to the windscreen permanently.
On my unit the colour code wore for permanent power and switched power with around the wrong way easy to solve if you have a meter to check the voltage etc.
Nice neat little camera you can view in HD on a PC only. Haven’t tried the night vision yet as it been light even in the night as it’s summer. But from the clips seems fine in the night at the moment time will tell when the winter sets in.
EDIT** Iwey has sent me an updated firmware for the camera enabling video locking via voice activation, perfect the dashcam is now able to lock a video and also take a picture using a voice prompt, the design flaw previously mentioned has been digitally sorted out. Big thankyou to Iwey for rectifying this small issue I had and such prompt service also, amazing.
I’ve been using this for over 2 weeks, it’s easy to set up, the picture is super clear, the lens covers a wide area, and now I’m really happy. I recommend this camera 100%, it is very easy to install and I am very happy with this product.
What I can say though is the fact that I have checked if this camera really records the video at 4K and I confirm the fact that after coping the files from the sd card on my computer, the resolution is indeed 4k but there is something here that I would like to mention, in most of the cases the resolution is not that important but what really counts is the quality of the image which in this situation is quite ok data but most importantly night time and to give you an insight, when it is getting dark and there is not enough light it automatically switches to night vision which even in full dark I can identify details in the video.
To have both front and back video backup plus the resolution is also important because it allows me to zoom in quite a lot to see details at for distance and specifically for my need this can has all the functionalities so for this reason I’m happy with the performance of it.
Not very good I can’t use this. Bought this in December 2022. Only just tried to install it. OKcar app required to use this camera doesn’t download from the amazon app store and not available on other app stores. Basically a total waste of money.

Problem has now been resolved and a partial refund for inconvenience has been accepted.

The presentation of the dash cam packaging was very good. Simple setup with provided QR code. Everything required to install it and tidy and hide the cables is provided: cable clips, a trim remover tool, adhesive strips, a guide in the box and even YouTube video showing how to do every part of it!
Dash cam itself:
In terms of the dashcam itself since it has no screen main interaction is through the app, but the dashcam has a led notifying you when it is recording as well as voice prompts (which can be disabled if you wish). The lack of a screen also makes it very discrete so if positioned correctly you can make it hard to notice.
It has a micro sd card slot, the description clearly states one is not provided so make sure to purchase a suitable one, I used 128GB SanDisk High Endurance and after formatting it in dash cam works perfectly.
App:
The app is actually very good, it’s easy to use and crucially provides all the settings needed to interact with the dash cam. Contrary to some of the reviews I can confirm it does reliably connect to the app, haven’t had any issues with that and the footage is indeed high resolution. Note: You must connect to the Wi-Fi network of the dashcam to use the app and to get the full resolution you must download the footage. The transfer speed is decent and equivalent to other dash cams I have used although the quickest option is always to remove the SD card and download footage onto your device that way.
Now onto the main thing the quality:
For daytime, I think the footage of the front camera is very good. Reflections are sometimes picked up and sometimes some areas are overexposed though. For the rear camera, it is acceptable, number plates can certainly be picked up once cars are close enough.
For night time, the quality of both cameras is not the best but the environment is still very visible with both cameras. Due to the price of the product, I leave the review as 5 stars as it is overall still a very good product.
The spec say 128GB max but I have 256GB, just format on PC first to make sure you are getting 256GB. Although in the manual it says 256GB, so formatting in the device should work too.
Files are recorded in HEVC (H.265) for very good encoding with smaller file sizes compared to the traditional AVC (H.264)
It is indeed “4K” – 2160p – check my attached details files. And sure, the implementation and software processing is not as good as a 1000 flagship phone so don’t expect super sharp AI processed super pictures and videos with this. It’s just a basic 4K sensor with basic processing, and for the price it’s good.
Also, very important to note, you have to download the videos/images to your device (better PC) and play/view them that way, this is what will give you the good quality. Live view on phone is compressed and not a true representation of what the camera is actually recording.
I’ve added pics of a difficult pattern for a camera and it recorded them fine. Ignore the removed parts, that’s for privacy reasons. I’ve uploaded them raw/full but Amazon might compress them so just be aware of that.
The front and back recordings are separate files on the SD Card (ending in A and B respectively).
Installation is easy, but I’ve done these before so have experience. It’s as easy as the others I’ve installed on my friends/family members’ cars. Compared to those other cameras it’s about the same “quality” but you can zoom in more on PC for extra detail. The others are 1080p front and 480p back, so not as clear as this one.
Car charger goes into 12v (or 24V) slot but has a handy USB Type A 5v 1.5A output for charging phones or whatever so you can still keep your phone going.
Comes with a very handy spudger tool to helping move the wires under the trim of the car.
The 3M tape supplied is really good – make sure to clean area with isopropyl alcohol first though! Comes with stick on clips if you are afraid to go under the trim – don’t be afraid as it’s much cleaner if you go under the trim, just make sure not to block side/pillar airbags.
The back camera is 360deg adjustable on the Y-axis (i.e. adjust up to sky, down to ground). Front is not adjustable, so make sure to look at the video stream while you are installing it.
Bonus: The built in voice announcements can be disabled.
