I’m using these lights to provide illumination above a South-facing garage door and a side gate. The two directional light panels mean they’re well-suited for this task, and they offer great coverage,
Pros:
These dual-panel lights provide a lot of light, and help when reversing onto the drive when it’s dark.
They’ve coped really well with the seemingly endless rain we’ve had this “summer”.
The remote control is handy as it allows you to switch between the 5 different modes, which means I don’t need to keep getting the ladder to adjust it. I’ve used this a few times to set the mode to “On for 1 hour” when working on the car (I think the mode resets itself to its usual cycle the next day, but I can’t be sure).
Cons: I only have one concern, and it’s minor:
While it holds the light securely enough, the mounting bracket feels a bit flimsy when you consider the weight of the unit.
Overall, this is a decent solar light, that’s bright enough to illuminate your garden, drive or pathway, though the bracket might not stand up too in extreme weather conditions.
This is brilliant to stick outside your front door because the sensor is front facing and picks up your motion, then the downfacing light turns on and lights up the door so you can easily get the key inside and unlock your door. Great solar light for a great price. Would recommend!
Brillaint solar light for my garden.
Easy to install and charged very quickly in the sun.
Has a variety of different settings with a remote control so you can adjust how you want it to operate without having to get your ladder back out. I’ve set mine to come on briefly when motion is detected so that when my dog goes out in the garden to toilet of a night, he can see where he is going and I can see him.
It has orange and green dim LEDs lit of a night too so you know it’s operating and ready to come on.
You can set it to permanently on bright, dim or on when motion is detected.
One of the larger solar lights I’ve used over the years so it covers a wide area. You can also pivot and angle the light panels to shine where you want them too. Brillaint.
INDARUN Solar Lights Outdoor Garden 218 LED Solar Powered Security Lights
This is such a lovely solar light with a handy remote control & five settings
A Dim light sensor mode – stays dim and lights up for 15 seconds when detecting motion
A Motion sensor mode – lights up for 15 seconds when detecting motion
A Constant mode on – stays bright all night
An Emergency mode – provides maximum brightness for one hour in case of emergency
An Auto Mode – has 70% brightness and switches to mode 2 when power is low
We have ours on setting number 2 which works very well and is extremely bright
The remote control is handy as can be operated from in the house
The two solar panels can be angled to make best use of the sun’s energy
Easy to install and good screws provided which is unusual!
At just under 30 this is very good value
Highly recommend
(Hope you found my review helpful)
With so much cost on energy prices, anything to save is a boon, even in small amounts.
I’m slowly amassing and changing some outdoor lights to solar and when I see some slightly more flexible ones (pun intended) I get them.
These are excellent, as they have two directional light panels with, using PIR sense to turn and can be controlled with a remote if you fit them high up, a simple way to change settings or turn on for manual control.
As there are two, each with their own solar panel and I assume charging and battery reserve, they give off a decent amount of light when full charged. Mine are affixed high along the shed wall, where the solar have 360 exposure to light and no shadow. These then light the pathway as the shed is back of garden. They have been working in all weathers pretty much consistently, albeit the occasional random on/off as PIR sensors can be somewhat finicky in temp fluctuations.
So far have worked in all weathers so I assume not leaking internally, though I will take off and check soon, as this is common problem with many solar devices, and if so I’ll seal up with some weatherproof silicone. Overall the build quality seems decent.
This version is best installed in free open light space, like level with a roof if along a wall, on a post or similar, as if you install on a house wall and most likely you’ll position the light panel at some degrees tilted, the solar panel will then be in more shadow and greatly losing its ability to charge properly. A more suited option for that would be an external solar panel on a where you could place it more directional towards sun.
Summary
Great for lighting up our patio in the summer months and can be mounted high on a wall as there is a remote control.
Set up
First, I would normally wait for some sunshine to fully charge the device – to ensure it was working correctly before mounting. No problems seen with this device as it arrived charged and working.
Remote
Very responsive remote controls the mode and brightness of the device. I have been using it in motion sensor mode but with it already on a dim setting. The device brightens when motion is detected by the infrared motion sensor and then after a period, goes back to the dim setting again. the remote can also change the timing settings which saves me having to climb up to it.
Size
The solar and LED areas are large. These are split down the middle and can be swivelled together or separated out.
Fixings
The device arrives with instructions, a remote control and wall fixings. I noted that the lamp is fairly heavy and I would recommend using the provided wall plugs and screws to be on the safe side.
Value
Very good functionality and light output. Great remote too. At 30, I believe this is excellent value.
I’ve been searching high and low for garden lighting that could provide both security and a touch of elegance to my outdoor space. Well, my search has finally come to an end! These solar-powered lights have breathed life into my garden with their motion-sensing capabilities and lovely glow. They’ve truly transformed the ambience of my evenings spent outside. Easy to install and waterproof, these lights have held up beautifully in British weather. Adding just the right touch of brightness, they’ve become a staple in my nocturnal garden adventures.
This is a very good light, after having a couple of these over the years this is by far the best one.
Easy install and very sturdy, the light is very bright compared to others ive had and the way it can be moved around gives a full range of light to the full garden.
Remote control makes it very easy to set the settings and know youre setting them correctly but once set theres not much use for it after this.
All in all a very good, very bright and easy to install ligh
I like the design of this and it has plenty of different modes so there should be one to suit everyone’s needs. In my case I installed it at my Mum’s house and all she needs is for it to light up when there’s motion and stay dark the rest of the time. That’s good because it’s not in full sunlight so it won’t get as much charge during the day as it would have done if it received several hour of direct sun every day so setting it to the least power hungry mode seems like a good idea. So far, in spring, it’s been working well and hasn’t run out of power. Next winter will be the real test, however.
I like that it comes with a remote control so you can switch it on and off and change settings without climbing up to it. Also good is that it has a charge indicator so you can tell how full (or otherwise) it is and use that information to decide whether it needs to be positioned somewhere more sunny. The large surface area of the solar panels is good too. They’re much bigger than the ones you normally see, but to be fair the LEDs must use quite a bit more power because they’re so bright (which is great)!
My only slight criticism is that the mounting bracket doesn’t feel very strong relative to the weight of the unit it supports. It’s holding up fine so far though.
Having moved into a new bungalow a few months back, I’m still in the process of sorting out the exterior lighting and where possible I’m opting for solar.
This light is quite large and weighty. It basically comes in three parts: the head unit with arm, extension arm and the mounting bracket. There’s then a nut & screw that joins each piece together.
Unfortunately for me, where the extension arm and mount join, there is a small nut that sits in the mount part, which is missing. Meaning I’m unable to join the two parts together. I’m going to have to see if I have one of the same size lying around. Both the joins are is ratcheted and allows you to angle the arm. There is no adjustability on the actual light itself. Which is a bit of a drawback, since I feel it restricts placement.
The light is very bright and does light up a decent area. It is slightly more advanced in terms of the number of modes it’s has, when compared to my others, which have three modes. If I’m honest, I only really tend to use one or two anyway, depending on where the light is placed.
This does have the added advantage of coming with a remote control (plus batteries), which does make controlling those modes easier. So, I could see this working better for me around my BBQ area. Where having it in motion sensing most of the time is going to be fine, but when having a BBQ or entertaining in the summer, being able to switch to the other modes easily will come in handy.
I don’t really wanted to downgrade my rating too much, as a result of the missing nut, since these thing do occasionally happen and all-in-all it is a good light.
Obviously at this point, I’m unable to comment on the reliability and durability of it.
I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading.
These INDARUN Solar Outdoor Solar-Powered LED Security Lights, with Motion Sensor, appear to be very well made, collect solar energy efficiently in spite of the difficulty in aligning the solar panels to be perpendicular to the sun’s rays, & produce an amount of light which can accurately be described as a spotlight. Despite some design inadequacies & inaccuracies of the advertising performance claims, IMHO, I think this solar LED light is well worth the purchase price.
So, for what reasons am I criticising the design/advertising claims:
The 1st bullet point of the advertising blurb states:
“The outdoor solar lights feature a foldable design with an adjustable light head. This allows for easy installation and customization of the lighting angle to maximize solar energy storage. The solar panel can be installed in a sunny outdoor location for optimal energy collection.” That is grossly inaccurate, in that:
** the wing-like 2 elements of the light/solar opposing panels need to be fully opened up, by moving them to a near-horizontal position, in order to open out the solar panels to maximise the chance of them collecting maximum solar rays. That does not provide for any adjustability in terms of pointing the panels to be perpendicular to the sun’s rays. They MUST be fully folded out; partially-folded-up, or worse, fully-folded-up, effectiveness of solar-ray collection would be reduced or extinguished altogether.
** adjustment of the ‘light head’ (light/solar opposing panels -LED lighting array below &, on the reverse/top side, the solar panels) is only possible vertically up/down (tilt away from or towards the mounting point) directly ahead of the mounting point; it does not allow for the light/solar opposing panels to be tilted or turned to either side to face the sun.
** so, what adjustment options are left? The solar panels require the sun to shine on them. Rarely, the sun may be almost overhead but more generally in the east (weak, in early morning), the south (virtually only direction in winter, direction of strongest sun in summer) & the west (significant in summer, less so in winter). But the only adjustment possible for this INDARUN light unit’s solar panels is to tilt them away from the mounting point (let’s say, on a wall) or towards it, but that in turn will point the light to shine towards the wall – not likely to be what we want. However, if we want the light to shine out, away from the wall, the solar panel would likely be tilted AWAY from the sun – no good for battery charging! I believe that there is pretty much only one choice for the most sensible mounting & adjustment of this light unit, that is to deploy the panel horizontally in front of the mounting point, with the mounting point sited high on the wall, or ideally on the roof edge barge boards, facing most directly south or south-west., with the light then facing directly downwards to light the surrounding area below it (even more effectively, if you fix a an outward-facing reflective surface immediately below it on the wall). I have tested it, & the motion sensor, & remote control, have the range to reach between the ground & the barge boards above the upper-floor of my home, & the light shines strongly on a large surrounding area, out to more than 10M from the wall.
With the light set horizontally as I suggest, & in my case I put it facing out from a wall which faces predominantly west but slightly south of west, in early April & in generally poor weather, I found that the solar panels charged the batteries surprisingly well. The timing during which strong light reaches the solar panels is enhanced by the mounting just below the gutter on the barge board, because the sun appears earlier on the solar panel surface over the top of the slope of the roof tiles.
There are 4 green LEDs on the underside of the light’s central spine, more lighting the higher the battery charge, & it returned to 4 greens every day. The light intensity can be set, amongst the other effects of the 5 different modes of operation, at a constantly-on mid-intensity (perfectly adequate) & I think you will find that enough to light your party as long as it will last! Admittedly, I have not tested it in that mode until dawn approaches, but it is still too cold for outside parties until dawn approaches at this time of year!
The remote control makes it practical & easy to operate the INDARUN Outdoor Solar-Powered LED Lights, mounted on the barge board, from ground level, or out of an adjacent window. I am a little concerned, given the weight & fairly large wing-like surface area of the light as to whether it will blow away in stormy weather.
I have tested the battery performance at high lighting intensity for several hours & have yet to take the battery below 75%. And, of course, at this time of year (early April), we do not have the benefit of maximum solar recharge.
INDARUN Solar Lights Outdoor Garden 218 LED Solar Powered Security Lights with Motion Sensor is a high-quality solar light which has the added advantage of having a motion sensor which works even when a small animal walks past.
It was so easy to install and the fact it has a total of 218 LEDs provides perfect illumination.
This for me is one of the best solar lights I have had the pleasure of testing and I would happily purchase another one as the illumination it provides is perfect for security as well as aiding me or my family if they have to go outside at night.
The fact that no electric cable is needed to power it means it is perfect for those times when extra light is needed but the added expense of electric cables does not justify the need.
Happy to recommend.
This is the brightest one I’ve tried yet. I like the design idea and the large surface area is used well on either side for the LEDs and the solar panel on the top. It’s easily mounted, the screws were decent enough too for straight into the wooden fence with an impact screwdriver. The remote is a welcome addition as there’s less faffing about pressing a single button not knowing what mode it’s in. This makes it easy and quick to adjust or turn on if you think you’ve seen something. The best bit of the brightness by far. It’s mega bright! There is an indicator to tell you how charged up it is which I like. The only drawback for me is that mine was hit by a football kicked from next door and the whole lamp unit snapped off and long at it now I’m surprised how small the area it was attached to is. See pic. That said if you haven’t got any hazards that might arise from wannabe England footballers You will love it I’m sure. It seems a shame that mines broken it was by far my favourite solar security lights so far. It did also survive the 6 ft fall onto concrete and didn’t crack or damage the light or solar panel which is quite impressive.
This design is very good for anyone who needs an overhead light. I have installed this outside, over my electric car charging point. It allows me to see better when charging at night time. Super bright and lights up the area anytime it detects motion. When I pull up in my car, it instantly starts up. It also doesn’t take much to trigger it, which is good. However, the neighbouring cat is greatly benefiting from this so maybe keep that in mind.
I really enjoy it, it looks sleek and nice on the side of the house. They really do awesome at lightening up a dark yard or area making you feel safe and providing great lighting for when it’s dark outside or if the power goes out in the area. They are very easy to install and require little to no know-how or tools. I simply screwed it into a wooden pillar. The solar panel allows for a wire-free installation. Once hung, that’s it.
Once installed, these lights are extremely low-maintenance. You can set it to automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn, so you never have to worry about remembering to turn them on or off. There are a few modes to choose from. I have just set mine to detect motion and turn it on at full power for a few minutes. It saves battery life and provides me with enough time to charge my card. The remote allows you to change all this easily.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my solar lights. They are a fantastic addition to an outdoor space, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to add a touch of charm and warmth to their backyard. The design might not be for everyone but it does provide a unique look. you can adjust the solar panels to be in direct sunlight and anchor the light down to the intended subject or space. There is a lot of adjustability and versatility with this light. Can’t recommend it enough.
Hope this review helps someone.
Really like this light. Solar panels are attached to the unit so no wiring involved in the fitting of it. It simply screws to where you want to locate it – a sunny/well lit area is best. You can adjust the angle of the light with the movable arms that lock the light into place and the two lights are like wings and are also adjustable to your preferred angle.
The led lights are nice and bright and there is 4 different settings to choose from as well as 3 different times amounts for how long the light stays on for. All these can be controlled on the light itself via buttons on the centre panel or by using the supplied remote control. Overall this is really good value for money and provides outside security light without needing to run off your electricity
Really impressed with this solar light. It’s quite large but easy to install and manipulate into your desired position to maximise sun capture and light up my patio.
The remote works well from inside my living room so can clearly see where the dog is at night when she pops out to do her business.
Highly recommend.
Easy enough to install with the fixings provided. its quite a hefty piece of kit and has adaptable supports to achieve different angles. The light is very bright and when not triggered the leading edge has a row of orange led’s glowing. The remote works from a distance of approx. 15 feet on which the timing, strength and mode settings can be altered. The solar panels can be angled for the best capture of sunlight to charge the cells. Not an unreasonable cost for a bright lght for the garden.
I put this on top of my gate to light up the drive when people come round. It’s easy to install but where it’s quite large I needed to use the rawlplugs to secure it. It works well, produces a bright light and is easy to adjust. I’m pleased with this.
I’ve had a few of these solar powered motion sensor security lights to test now, but this is definitely one of the more upscale versions. This is reflected in its current price of 29.99, around 3x more than the more basic ones which are widely available. So what does your money get you in this case? Well, first of all, LIGHT. This is blinding when it comes on full force and will illuminate a large area when angled appropriately. It contains 218 LEDs so considerably more than most on the market. It also has a foldable design which allows you to adjust the angle of both the lights and the solar panels to maximise charging power and illumination. There are 5 modes to choose from: always on at reduced (25%) brightness, 1 hour of full brightness before going off and repeating daily, dim light going to full brightness when motion is detected, no light going to full brightness when motion is detected, and on all night at 70% brightness switching to off with motion activation when battery reaches 50% and repeating this cycle daily. There is also a remote control to allow you to switch easily between modes, and an indicator light so you can see how much charge remains in the lamp. The instructions are also clear and easy to follow, and it’s quite straightforward to install with all hardware included. Definitely a cut above many other solar powered security lights but whether it justifies its cost depends somewhat on what your needs are.
This solar motion light is impressive, unlike any i owed before, this one can be set up to be on all night.
Very good light, the beam covers are goo area. Obviously is not as bright as plug in one, but really good for solar.
Also comes with a handy remote control.
I absolutely do recommend it!
This is probably the most powerful solar powered light I have ever seen (or tried). The two lights with a similar size solar panel on the back is designed in such a way as to get the very best from the marriage of solar panel and LED lights.
I took these photos before I put the light up outside by my garage – I am still adjusting it to cover the best area without my neighbours being disturbed by passing people or passing cats etc. Once it is exactly where I need it I shall be happy, but until then, all the tests I have done lead me to the simple conclusion that this light is simple amazing.
The area it covers is huge and the way in which it can be directed to exactly the right place is down to an excellent design. On top of all this, it even has a remote which helps a lot if you put the light up high. I cannot praise this light enough.
This is a solar powered garden security light controlled by a remote control and also activated by a movement sensor. Comes with comprehensive instructions, remote control including two AAA batteries and fixing screws with wall plugs.
What’s to like? Well it an reasonable solution for dark areas in the garden, a patio or to light up a garden path on approach. It’s very reasonably priced and provides a good level of light. It’s solar powered so there is no wiring required and installation is therefore really simple. I like that this light can be controlled remotely, switch the light on and select time you wish the lamps to stay illuminated. There are also four modes of operation to choose from.
What’s not to like? It’s solar powered, because the solar panels are on the opposite side to the LED security light, finding a suitable installation point can be tricky. Despite two hinges on the connecting arm, I haven’t been able to find an ideal fixing point where the solar panels can charge, a point needing security lighting and where movement would be detected. I am juggling between these three needs which unfortunately are not necessarily contingent upon each other. Seems I can satisfy one need maybe two but not all three. Our rear garden is north facing, so this has added further complications finding a suitable location. Clearly this light will function better if its panels can collect a good level of solar energy all year round. So I wonder how useful this light will be in the dark dull winter days? I haven’t given up yet but I wanted to make people aware that finding a suitable location for this light can be a problem. For my needs I suspect a remote solar panel might have worked better for a security light like this.
In conclusion this solar security light could be an ideal solution. It’s clearly very good quality and I can read the instructions which make sense. It’s very reasonably priced too. Unfortunately I haven’t yet found a ideal place where this lamp will work and I don’t think I am alone with this issue. I have awarded four stars because it is a very good product, it works well but it has some practical limitations.
EDIT You can see from the photos I found an ideal location for this security light. The panels are south facing whilst the LED security light comes on as anyone approaches the rear gate. You can see just how bright this light is. I must say I am very impressed so I have updated my review accordingly. Installation was very easy too. Fantastic product and great value too. Five stars
This solar light is ideal for brightening up an outside space, such as a patio or driveway.
It’s easy to install with a bit of DIY and once up, the panel can be manoeuvred 180 to get it into position.
The light it produces is very bright and there are a number of different modes to choose from which control how and when the light turns on and at which brightness.
It also comes with a remote from which you can control the power, mode, timer and brightness.
All in all, it’s a good solar light to brighten up an outside space.
I hope you found this review helpful.
Good battery size for an outdoor solar light, still prefer the 9,000+ ones but it’s good for the price 30 quid. This absorbs a lot of sun with it’s double shield when opened up. The light is also really bright in pitch darkness, adjusting the head to make sure it’s not too high, because then the Sun may not get the panels to charge it the most, when the solar panels are covered by darkness, the light shines and on the mode you have on will perform the settings the modes and what they do is in my video review about 2 minutes and 13 seconds in.
The light can also last upto 45 seconds of none motion time, so if it detects you the light goes on for 45 seconds, but you can adjust this with the remote or the base mode button. There is 25s 35s and 45s max. Using 25 seconds will save lots of battery power.
To use: First figure out where you want to put it, somewhere where there is no external light shining on top of the solar panel, that’s reserved for the Sun only. Preferebly in the dark area at night time pitch black everywhere around it. During the day screw it in the wall, drill holes, use a pen marker if you need to, put the plastic in the holes use a hammer to get them in if you need to, and then screw it in as you hold it on the wall. I used a drill machine as it’s really easy this way.
Now it’s on the wall, then adjust the panels up and down, tighten the screws to hold it in place, make sure the Sun can get to the panels all day, and at night there’s no lights around the solar panels. Then open the solar flaps, and press the button to turn it on, then use the remote control to set it how you want. It’s really simple to use the manual explains it rather well.
It doesn’t come charged though, could barely see the light even for a brief moment, and too bad there’s not a usb-c port to charge it that way too, I took a star off because of that, as the Sun in the UK is only good during summer time. It may take between 1-2 weeks or more to charge it during winter times. This is said to be rain, snow, and Sun proof. I’ll get back to you on the snow bit.
