On a sunny day this cover easily adds 2 to 3 degrees to my 7,500 litre above ground pool

This is my second one, after 2 years my first had been ripped by kids etc and needed replacing

    I wouldn’t be without one.

I can’t guarantee it but I’m certain it helps stop the water temperature dropping at night too

Super easy to unroll onto and off of your pool to use. I roll it round a pool noodle in under a minute

This is probably my 5th or 6th solar cover. They tend to go extremely brittle and break up and need replacing every 2, maybe 3 years, that is based on around 2 months usage per year.
I have had Intex solar covers before but this one does feel thinner than usual.
I have a 12ft steel frame Intex pool and the 12ft cover fits perfectly.
This does work, however, remember to keep the pump off during sunlight hours, otherwise, if you put yr hand in the top of the pool, you’ll think the cover isn’t working but, it’s just because the pump is spreading the heat throughout the pool.
I prefer to keep the pump off, after a short time in the sun, stick your hand in and feel the warmth!
All in all, definitely good to both heat yr water and stop debris from entering the water. When removing the cover, I fold mine like a triangle, over and over, and leave somewhere clean until you place back on the surface of pool

Product as expected, lightweight, will only enhance surface water temperature, but very useful as a quick cover while pool is unused during a sunny day, a few reviews say does not fit and gap around edge, this is true when first fitted but after 3 hrs in the sun it had expanded to fit perfectly on a 3.6m imtex pool.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFits our 12ft Aldi Summer Waves pool perfectly. For those reviewers complaining it is just a sheet of bubble wrap – do your research. It’s supposed to be – that is what you ordered! It’s also supposed to have a few small holes in to allow water to drain through in order to keep it afloat. It’s supposed to have a small gap around the edge. So from what I can see this is a decent product for the price paid. Now we just need some su

So this product does actually help a pool keep water warm however once it’s removed the water will drop whatever it gained so.

It’s a good thing to have though, takes the chill off but it is glorified bubble wrap with not very long lasting results

I was really quite surprised with the heat this helps to generate! Super lightweight so it can easily be put on by one person and definitely helps to heat the first few inches of water! It by no means heats to entire pool (we have a 12ft 11,000gallon one) but it definitely helps to take the chill off! We brought this as well as a compete cover to keep bits from falling in when it’s not in use/overnight and they do a perfect job!

Easy to use. Just when the wind is blowing it lifts the cover. It has no clips or handles just sits on the water which if windy blows it up.

It is basically a big circle of bubble wrap, no fastenings, structure or anything remotely designed or engineered. Does the job I guess, but flimsy and questionable value for money. A gust of wind or big rain will defeat it. It does have the Intex logo printed on it though which probably took some effo

This is great at keeping crud out of the pool and it definitely does keep the water noticeably warmer.
We took a tip from another review and use a bit of pipe to roll the cover on, makes it so much easier to put on & off and means it’s not just crumpled on the floor when not in use.
The only problem is that when you roll it off, all the crud then rolls into the pool anyway. This isn’t a major problem as you just scoop it out with a net, but is irritating. You can’t brush the rubbish off first as it sits below the rim of the pool.
Would still recommend, and I might look for a top cover too just to help with the keeping clean.
By the way, it is just a massive piece of blue bubble wrap, although a little stronger. So a bit on the pricey side.

The cover has helped keep the water on top warm but when you get in the water near the bottom is still cold. Unless it’s really hot out then it has managed to help heat the pool water.

The item was delivered quickly and well packaged. It’s doing a great job covering the pool during the day while the kids aren’t using it. I couldn’t say if it keeps the heat in or heats up the water but that’s not what I made the purchase for. Easy to put into place and take off by myself. Overall I’m satisfied with it.

its just a big sheet of bubble wrap. works well and i’m finding a lot less bugs in the pool as they can land and fly away. could be more durable, hard not to pop a few each time i take it off. i hang it on the washing line and bird lime rinses off easily with a hose. seems to reduce chlorine evaporation.

It does the job it’s meant to do however – it’s very tricky for 1 person to put on – I have managed (eventually) a few times on my own. Much, much easier for 2 people although there is a knack to doing it! –

Bought for our 10ft frame pool, quick delivery and well packaged in it’s own bag for future storage. Did not go cover edge to edge but, still effective, giving warmth to the top of the water only. Looks like bubblewrap but, robust and easy to pull on and off. Would recommend!!

Given mixed reviews i waste sure about this but we needed a cover as we have a few trees etc so helps keep it clean and also thought it might keep it warm, once the pool is at temperature after a warm spell this really does keep the warmth in. On a hot day you can feel the difference in the first few inches of water and on cold days you can feel the very top is not as cold, people said its like bubble wrap, its like sturdy thick bubble wrap in design but who cares if it does what you need it to which for us was keep out leaves etc when not in use and helps keep it warmer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAbit disappointed it isn’t as per the picture in the advert, in the picture the bubbles look harder Looks a lot more sturdier, but just like others have mentioned it is basically just bubble wrap, apart from it being blue I do 100% believe a similar colour bubble wrap could be just as effective and maybe cheaper.

Seems alot for just blue bubble wrap with a intex stuck on logo.

But I have put it on pool today, it is sunny at the moment but I have converted a Lay Z Spa pump to heat my pool, and have had my 12ft upto 31c with only the standard covers so will see now if this cover comes close to that considering that’s what it is made for, I will edit this in a couple of days and update on heat levels.

    EDIT: 25th June 2020

Well yesterday I put it on my pool late in afternoon as didn’t arrive until later on but it was still sunny, yesterday it actually heated the pool to 30c without my Lay Z Spa heater going.

Over night it dropped down to 27c which is fine, we had another hot day today and I went out, came back a few hours later and the pool was heated upto 32c YES 32c so this fancy bubble wrap does work to some degree. My next test for it will be on a cooler day to put my Lay Z Spa on heat and see if the actual cover keeps the pool warm or is it literally only heated with the sun.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this for our 12ft Bestway Steel Frame Pool. Living in Scotland I didn’t hold out much hope for it heating the pool, but it does a really good job. On sunny days the water under the cover is nice and warm to a depth of 6″ or so. An hour or so before the kids get in the pool I “agitate” the water under the cover to mix the warmer upper layers with the cooler lower water. This raises the temperature of all the water slightly, but with the cover still on, the upper 6″ heats up again quite quickly, agitate, repeat, agitate etc.

The overall effect is a much warmer pool than last year when the kids constantly complained that the pool was too cold to swim in. First world problems eh!?

Anyway, I am really pleased with the efficiency of the cover and would recommend. As others have said, it is just blue bubble wrap when all is said and done, but I am glad I bought it and so are my children.

This is easy to fit and does heat up the first couple of inches of water on the pool. We have our pump on to circulate the water also on our 10ft easy up pool. If you are looking for something cheap to just take the edge off the water temp then this is a great little buy. We plan on also buying a solar mat to connect to the water pump also to help with the temperature a bit more.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAs like most people have said this is just Bubble packing stuff although does seem a bit thicker. It comes in a nice zipped bag which might be a pain to get back in. I read a lot of reviews from sites saying that these covers do make a difference so thought I would give it a go. Unfortunately the pool thermometer that I ordered arrived after this so can’t confirm exactly what difference it has made. I can say with 30degree c heat we have had the water is around 17degree c which is still quite cold. The main problem I have is trying to get it off and on the pool worrying that I’m going to pop the bubbles. It’s also worth noting that there is a slight gap around the edges but this is normal.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersWe’ve only had our pool up for 2 weeks in a spell of lovely weather and unfortunately since then the glorious British summer has been mainly wet, windy and cold! However this cover is the best one i’ve ever had, it’s easy to put on and take off and during the very brief spells of sunshine definitely warmed the water a little. I hope when the weather improves the difference in water temperature will be even better. It also stayed firmly in place through wind and rain so i think it’s had a pretty good first outing so far. My pool is 12ft and the original cover we had that went over the pool never fitted properly, came off in the wind and thus kept nothing out of the water. This is a vast improvement and i would highly recommend. I’ve read reviews that have said it’s flimsy and tore, my experience is that it probably is flimsier then other covers, it is just glorified bubble wrap, but even if it only lasts one summer for the price i wont complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little pool cover.

Golden Review Award: 114 From Our UsersI was amazed at the difference this made. Now I’m in England and we’ve just has the best summer, actually we’re still having it really, but its not as good as it has been but when it was el scorchio! we had the big pool out and found that its cover had died over the course of the three years it’d been in the loft of the shed, I think the mice liked it too much so a new one was needed.

I thought, and if I’m honest part of me still thinks that this is simply a sheet of blue plastic with bubble-wrap stuck to it. In fact thinking about it now as I write this review I think I can confidently say this is a piece of blue plastic with bubble-wrap stuck to it, but it works really well and makes a huge difference to the temperature of the pool, so much so that when you got in you could feel the warmer water at the top of the pool and the cooler water at the bottom. I liked it… in fact I liked it a lot and used to try and get it with out mixing the water around to much; I’m seeing someone about that now and feel much better now, just in case you were worried.

So, if you’re looking for something to keep the leaves out, that actually warms the pool like it says it does and might or might not be simply a sheet of blue plastic with bubble-wrap on one side then you’ve found what you’re looking for. (where else would you go to buy blue bubble-wrap anywho?) Buy it, its good

Golden Review Award: 143 From Our UsersI was really dubious about this pool cover, given some of the negative rewiews. But given there where some positive reviews I decided to take the plunge… (Pun intended)
On receiving the solar cover I noticed the packaging states it is 11’5″ in diameter, so I was tempted to return it immediately as I wrongly assumed this would not fit a 12″ Bestway steel frame pool… But it does!
The quality of the bubble wrap (be under no illusion it is just blue bubble wrap) is far superior than would ordinarily be used for packaging, I guess this what is ment by “high-micron”. It’s very strong and will not tear easily, additionally is has several coin size holes in it so the air can escape and water can after on top to be heated. I had the pool setup for just less than a week before this cover arrived and it seems much warmer now with a consistent water temperature of 24 degrees centigrade. Over all I’m very pleased with this cover and feel it does represent good value for money given the quality and square meterage of the product.
Pro-tip: For removing, storing and applying the cover use a 3m PVC waste pipe, this allows one person to roll the cover off and on. You might want a smaller pipe to help (like a 2m pvc electrical conduit) to help get it in position if applying on your own). These pipes are only a few s from you local diy store. Amazon may sell them to, but given the length of the pipes I imagine the postage would make them noncompetitive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fear not - This cover is great!

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersLet’s get this bit out of the way: Yes, it looks and feels a bit like expensive, blue coloured bubble wrap. But that’s essentially what solar pool covers are! I have an in-ground pool and have bought much more expensive ‘proper’ solar covers in the past, which are made of exactly the same material. You just need to accept this fact and understand their TRUE purpose and worth.

Although pool covers do ‘heat’ the top 4-6″ or so of the pool water WHEN IT IS VERY SUNNY, that is not their primary purpose. It is generally accepted that around 85% of HEAT LOSS in a pool is caused by evaporation. The main purpose of a pool cover is therefore to RETAIN heat and they do this rather well.

After 12+ years of trying different products, I have come to accept that there is nothing apart from a gas boiler or heat pump that will truly heat a pool naturally in the UK. If heat is what you want, then buy a heater but don’t stop using pool covers! I heat my pool with a gas boiler and have noticed a 40% reduction in heating costs since using pool covers.

Do also remember that whilst these covers will keep a certain amount of heat in a pool when it’s warm and sunny for prolonged periods of time, nature will always win if it’s cloudy or if the outside temperature drops into the teens. Don’t expect miracles. Even with solar covers you need a LOT of prolonged sunshine to heat up or maintain the heat in a pool naturally.

If you buy this product with all of this in mind, you won’t be disappointed.
