Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the device? | Open the clip and insert your pointer finger until it touches the bump in the back. Close the device and start measuring by pressing the button. Wait until your readings show up on the screen. |
Can it measure constantly? | The OXI-27 is built to measure for short periods of time, like before and after sporting. It is possible to measure constantly, but since movement influences the measurement, your result might be inaccurate. |
Can I move while measuring? | Moving your fingers can make your reading inaccurate. Try to keep your fingers still while measuring. |
Can I wear nail polish? | Nail polish and fake nails can influence your readings since the infrared sensor measures through your nail. Measure with nude nails for the most accurate result. |
Does it work on cold fingers? | When your fingers are cold, your blood vessels contract and your blood circulation is reduced. This makes it harder for the OXI-27 to read you SpO2. Make sure to warm up cold fingers before measuring. |
How Does it work for kids too? | The OXI-27 is intended for adults, and kids above the age of 4. |
How do I attach the lanyard? | Push the narrow part of the lanyard through the square hole on the hinge side of the device. Loop the lanyard through the narrow part to secure it to the oximeter. |

It’s very soon to review this monitor but you can tell quality and this gadget came beautifully boxed along with pouch and lanyard. It has a solid weighty feel. Importantly, I knew what my readings should be as they are consistent and frequently read at hospital and as yesterday, at my local doctors. They were exactly right, so I’m not worried about margins of error. If you just need to know your heart rate and blood oxygen levels get one of these instead of a smart watch full of stuff you’ll never use.
I find this small gadget to be very useful and very a curate.By measuring the oxygen saturation in the circulation provides a very accurate reading. Also the heartbeat indicator gives a clear indication of my health.Absolute must for anyone who is concerned with health conscious behaviour.
Would recommend highly
I needed to understand my heart rate and oxygen due to health issues. When I’m feeling unwell or somethings not quite right I can rule out specifics quickly. This is a single button the put your finger in it. Works flawlessly and even beeps it’s little head off if your heart rate is too high. It’s a great but if kit to have in the first aid draw.
I bought this whilst sitting on a friend whose a nurse’ sofa at 5 a.m. in the morning having yet another cardiac event, not being able to breathe and thinking this time was the end.
Since then I use this to regularly monitor both my pulse and quickness of beat in a journal.
It’s fairly accurate. I showed this to my GP and she put their one on me and it was only out by 4 or 5 bpm. She was quite impressed actually.
It has been very useful in the past when I’ve had to describe/show to doctors or my boss that I’m having severe chest pain.
Turns out if your heartrate is 124 whilst sitting still, people actually take you seriously and finally refer you to cardiology after 2 years of complaining of sporadic chest pain, shooting pain in my neck and left arm…
This lives in my handbag and I don’t leave home without it.
Get one. It may save your life.
The packing was really compact and environmentally friendly, the product itself was really easy to use and the instructions were really clear. It appears to be accurate, and the leaflet it comes with is really informative in telling you what blood oxygen levels mean and what the levels should be, and how to increase it if it’s low (I had one day when it was 92% however I had not eaten until the late afternoon!). It made my arm a bit tingly the first time I used it, not sure if that is normal as it didn’t actually say anything about it on the leaflet but haven’t had that sensation when using it other times. It comes with a nice little pouch too which is cool! I like the colour too!
The product does look a bit cheap and plasticy…alas, it does what it says on the tin! I would never of known that I have a condition called Bradycardia without using this. That’s when your resting heart rate is more often than not beating at a rate lower than 60 beats per minute. Normally causing problematic stations under 50/per min. Mine, when using this device, is a consistent 47!! A trip to the doctor’s for me! It would be helpful if the accompanying information sheet explained what bradycardia is, and references to the fact that something is wrong if your heart is beating too slow …alas, the unit will start beeping at you if your heart rate is below 50.
Perfect device for monitoring heart rate and O2 stats at home.
I use a pulse oximeter at work as a medic, comparing these two devices together there is very little difference in terms of accuracy.
Both devices read my pulse as the same and had my O2 stats within the same bracket.
I like the warning sound for heart rate on this device as when working on patients it is nice to be able to hear this so I can get on with other jobs without continually having to check the readout to check what is happening.
From reading the description of this product it is aimed at people who wish to measure their heart rate and O2 stats at home, I believe that this device would be perfect for that, it comes with a lanyard allowing you to wear it around your neck so that you can keep it with you and get measurements whenever you need them.
Extremely simple to use, simply pop on your finger and get your heart rate at oxygen saturation levels on seconds. Nice big display and great little case and handle making it convenient to carry around. As a light smoker & trying to give them up, I tested it before having a cigarette and afterwards and seeing the difference in oxygen levels is such a huge incentive to quit smoking. It’s great seeing exercise helps in real time so would highly recommend to anyone who wants to use this as part of their fitness routine. I’m very excited to continue using this on my fitness journey. Knowing when my oxygen levels are down is a huge help to me as I can suffer from dizzy spells sometimes, any bit of equipment that can help me health wise until my gp assists I am grateful for.
This one is a lovely shade of black in a sleek design, looks smart and professional.
First off it comes with it’s own detachable lanyard and carry case that also features a loop so you can fix your belt through it.
Once on your finger this takes approx 10 seconds to get a reading and you will see the figures settle to the correct reading.
It also features a pulse display to let you see how strong or weak your pulse is.
The unit itself is a hood sturdy machine and feels high quality and the red display is both bright and clear.
I have used these machines in the past in both medical settings and home use and this product is very reliable and can keep you feeling safe that you can monitor your own, or those you care abouts’ oxygen saturation levels and heart beat/pulse and get medical help if required.
The good: the product has a stylish design but the picture may mislead that it is shiny. It isn’t, which is a good thing as it won’t be a a magnet for fingerprints.
The display offers clear readings. It is a monochrome display showing only in bright red, something which I haven’t found disturbing. This style of LCD is most likely more energy efficient than an OLED display found in some other products, giving you more bang for the battery.
The documentation is extremely well written. In fact, it is one of the best instructions leaflet I have seen for quite a while. A lot of care has been put into the packaging of the product so it doesn’t feel cheap at any point during the unboxing.
I think the carrying pouch is a nice touch, even better than the lanyard.
I am yet to try it, but there’s a card in the box telling me that I can register online for an extra year of warranty.
Other than that, it does what it says on the tin: it measures the pulse and the blood oxygen levels.
To be improved: the stiffness of the hinge which may affect the accuracy of the readings. I believe this is a temporary problem until it is broken in. This isn’t s problem with the sensor itself which is capable of providing precise readings.
CE markings on the device would have given me even more confidence.
Product is nicely packaged with instructions, a lanyard a nice textured bag, batteries and the device itself. The device is made of a sturdy plastic with 1 button and easy to read screen displaying oxygen levels pulse rate and average pulse.
I compared the pulse rate results to a fitness watch and they average out the same so I’d assume this is accurate. Unfortunately I have nothing else to test oxygen levels but it was reporting what I expected so again feel this to be accurate.
The device itself opens quite easilly on its hinge but retracts to provide a comfortable pressure on a finger. My 3 year old daughter tested this without problems showing its really simple to use.
My daughter has suffered from blue lips in the past so this is a welcome addition to my first aid kit and the size makes it very compact without taking up an excessive amount of room.
The iProven OXI-27 is a compact, fingertip oxygen saturation and heart rate monitor intended for use in an exercise setting (not validated for use in healthcare). It fits snugly over a finger and grips your finger like a peg in order to stay in place. On the top of the monitor is a clear and simple red LED display which shows your oxygen saturation in percentage, heart rate (beats per minute)a and there is an LED bar graph alongside this showing the signal of the pulse, which helps you determine how well the monitor is picking up your heart rate.
Upon ordering, the item arrived promptly and was well packaged. It comes in a small cardboard box which contains the OXI-27, a lanyard attachment, a carry case with belt attachment, and 2 AAA batteries required to operate the monitor. The batteries are very simple to install, and once this is done, simply put the OXI-27 on your finger, press the button on the top, and it will fire up and display your numbers. The OXI-27 will automatically shut off if it does not detect a finger for a short period of time, so you can’t forget to turn it off.
I tested the OXI-27 against one of the oxygen saturation probes used in my local hospital, and it performed well, giving very similar readings – however, note that I only tested this in the situation of a normal heart rhythm and rate, with oxygen saturations in the normal expected range.
Personally, I find that the OXI-27 grips my finger a little too tightly, and after a few minutes becomes very slightly uncomfortable, and hence I have deducted a star from the rating – it may be that the hinge & spring loosen up a bit after a bit of usage but for the time being, it just feels a little too tight, and I would say I have average sized fingers.
All in all, I would say it is a good piece of kit, and feels well made and robust. It seems to give accurate readings and would be a good investment for those looking to objectively measure the effects of their workout.
EDIT – at present, the white version of this saturation monitor is available at the lower price of 13.99

To operate you press on the hinge end and it opens up, then put the instrument over your finger tip and let it close. It clamps on comfortably, not too tightly. A press of the red button switches it on and after a few seconds it shows the readings.
The advert talks about sports fanatic, which I can’t profess to be so my fitness goals are more modest, simply knowing my oxygen saturation level and pulse rate is what I needed.
The Pulse Oximeter looks very well made, the display is clear and easy to read, it is easy to use and the price is very reasonable. I have no hesitation in recommending it as a good buy and good value.
That being said – I *really* like it. It is so easy to use – it’s practically perfect. It has a wee case, along with a lanyard (why it has a lanyard, I really don’t know – but the case is a good idea). Good packaging, clear photo – tells you exactly what it is. the unit itself is very attractive – and a really nice feature is the fact you don’t have to break fingernails changing the batteries – there’s a wee cut-out you can use for leverage. I can’t say how accurate the oximeter is, as I don’t have any other oximeters to test it against – but the pulse readings seem accurate. I’m happy to keep this product and use it, when necessary – and I can’t give it higher praise than that.
