Looks like this will be fine for the job, I just wanted a bit of reassurance before changing a lightswitch. In testing the high sensitivity mode detects voltage from a greater distance. I think this will also be useful for finding breaks in xmas tree lights etc. Seems to be a handy tool to have on hand, especially for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorked like a charm to test a Circuit for Voltage even when the CBs are set to OFF…you can never be too careful with electicity when doing DIY. Fantastic little device for the price and worth 5 Stars

Got me out of trouble many times. Not an electrician but I like to know if the power is off sometimes.
Also handy if our extension leads play up because we can check if it is the lead, power or plugged in tool.
    Recommended.

Very neat little utility tool for checking for live wires. I needed to do a minor repair and lost power to garage, but a few times I’ve made socket repairs and there’s always a slight doubt even with the breakers flipped. Always good to have that confidence!

Also helped me fault find with power loss. I could trace back wiring and see where the loss was occuring which let me make the small repair and saved me an electrician call.

Used this to troubleshoot an outdoor light – there was power to the transformer, but nothing beyond it. Discovered water had gotten inside the transformer and shorted it out.

Easy to use, helped pinpoint the exact problem – would recommend

I have never had a tester like this before and never thought I would need one until recently.

The accuracy is good and though it may sound an alert when you don’t expect it to, it is not a flaw in the product but rather an individual user.
It is very easy to use and has simple two button layout that once used is not easy to forget.

Very good product and good value for money, providing you confirm it works before you undertake a certain job, you should be safe with this tester.

Allowed me to quickly resolve problem with power missing from mains voltage garden water feature. particularly like noise feature when power detected, good when working in bright sunshine.

REMEMBER Never take result of these detectors for granted. Before working on or touching electrical equipment terminals always check with test lamp or multimeter to prove disconnection.

Needed a voltage tester to proove a cowboy electrician right, this came in fast and workes like a charm
Lights are helpful and sensitive to voltage.
A great tool to have in the house.

Does the job. Quite accurate. But beeping is so annoying I couldn’t stand it for longer than few moments. Don’t know why is it so loud and why can’t be switched off as coloured lights for me are enough to warn about live wire. And end tip could be slimmer and universal round shape to fit smaller gaps and all sockets not UK only ones. Improve it and will be 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt says it on the book but it goes without saying, test test test to ensure this works each time. I followed that and it nailed its purpose each and everytime and kept me safe to type this here today. Used it to change a bathroom light and make sure the mains was off but no funny connections along with an extractor fan and it did precisely what was on the tin.

No complaints, just a note that I measured a standard live mains wire that I knew was live, and only when measuring closer to the end, did it beep. Also, gives of a “high” value for dimmer switches, but also gives off high for live cables.
Other than that, seems to work as expected and is reliable. Not good for embedded wires behind a wall so if you want that you’re looking in the wrong product category.
    I would recommend this

I am fearing the tip might smap off at some point although it does seem to be hard plastic / acrylic. ironically i actually bought it for a specific job, which in the end didn’t come to fruitician so i havent used it much at all for the mome

I was a bit apprehensive buying this given all the negative reviews, especially when playing with electricity. No need to worry however, I found these extremely accurate and I’m still alive to tell the tale after installing several smart lights with this wee device to assist me.

Yes it will give the odd random beep when you bump off a bit of metal or the lines, but it’s one little beep where as when it is near a live wire, this thing beeps like crazy so you know it’s doing its job. The light comes in very handy too, especially when using in a room without much natural light.

Well worth a punt for the price

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy touch lamp stopped working and I was about to replace it but seeing as I had just bought the KAIWEETS HT100 Voltage Tester to aid me with finding out why my car rear lights were not working, I decided to use the tester on the broken lamp first. I was able to see where the electriciy flow was reaching in the lamp chord and knew that at leat power was getting to a certain point and from there I removed a black box thing which I assume was what made it a touch lamp and joined up the remaping earth and live wires heat shrinking them and added an inline on-off rocker switch. The lamp is back in use as a standard lamp without the touch settings but at least working again. Now to tackle my car, but I can honestly say I wish I had bought one of these years ago. If you want to get a cheap but highly useful present for somebody, look no further as it is easy to use and saves you so much time and it is not the first thing that comes to mind to buy until you are in a situation like mine. The only problem was I ended up spending ages going around the house checking everything for no good reason but it was fun!
