This sprinkler from Karcher is great, it has a bunch of useful features from being able to spike it into the ground, or turn certain nozzles on or off to control the width of the coverage.
Since buying this sprinkler, I’ve been able to ensure the garden gets a good coverage of water at the correct times of day without shooting a ton of water over the fence, or wetting the house by limiting the arc and nozzles that are in use which I love. It’s saved me the 15/20 minutes of manual watering I found myself doing most mornings and evening and the garden still looks incredible.
The sprinkler gets fantastic coverage of the garden and don’t notice any areas that are missed after I’d dialed in the setup for whats perfect for my home. Being able to use the cover guard when making adjustments is great too, as it allows you really dial in the settings without getting absolutely soaked, although it obviously does end with quite a lot of water pooling out the bottom while the guard is in place, so you still feel rushed to not waterlog your grass in the meantime. Given how easy it is to adjust though, it doesn’t take much time at all, and fine tuning it is a quick process.
If you’re looking for a sprinkler to small to medium coverage, I’d look no further and try this one out! It’s well worth the few extra quid given how well it’s built, how premium it feels and most importantly, the performance it delivers.
This was real easy to use, and set up, it has push buttons to make sure you have the right amount of spray to cover your lawn, mine is quite narrow, so push the end buttons to close off and not waste water not hitting the lawn, and it also has a splash guard to you don’t get wet when setting up
Having a large lawn to bed in we tried other cheaper options which broke easily so decided to bite bullet and get a karcher which we know are good quality owning a few karcher products already . Very easy to use and is rock solid quality and runs and runs without an issue . Don’t go cheap go karcher it’s worth it .
Required this or water parts of a large garden. Al previous sprinklers have proved flimsy. This seems well constructed and easily adapted for different size plots. So far working well.
I was looking for a sprinkler which would suit my large back garden as well as a small lawn at the front. The front lawn adjoins the pavement and next door’s drive so I needed something that I could make sure the spray only went where I wanted it go. The sprinkler has a lot you can vary – you can vary the spread of the spray on all four sides as well as the strength of the spray (without having to adjust the flow from the tap all the time).
As long as you take the time to adjust the different settings, you can get this sprinkler to do just what you want. It’s been a good buy.
Like others, I’ve had some other sprinklers and they have never been a success (and then broke). This one looks well designed and well-made – plus it does a very good job sprinkling the lawn more efficiently than any other.
Be very aware that these sprinklers not just this one i tried many do not achieve the surface area advertised its all dependant on water pressure typically these will only cover about 7-8 meters x up to 6-7 meters
This is a sturdy piece of kit that worked well with my average water pressure. The function to restrict the coverage was useful as otherwise it would have watered the border planting beds too. Using the cover to stop the flow when you are moving the sprinkler is an art form – I got soaked a few times – best to turn the tap off instead. Recommended – it costs more than some, but it works.
This sprinkler is fantastic. That’s all I can really say about it. Extremely easy to use out of the gate, and everything it says on the tin and the advertisement blurb works as intended – a rarity in this day and age for sure!
Karcher has gotten a bit of a reputation for slowly “downscaling” their quality over time, some of their products you bought 10 years ago when bought again today have certain fittings replaced or altered which are less effective / durable than their ancient counterparts, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here, thankfully.
I haven’t measured my garden, but I have a 40m hose that runs out of length about 90% down the garden, so my garden must be around 50m or so. This sprinkler gets it all when put in the middle and set to the maximum power and spread distance. It sprays all the way to the bottom hedgerow and all the way to the upper grow boxes on the patio. That’s pretty amazing stuff, considering I live in a fairly low pressure area and I’m using it from the outside tap too. When I use the hose without a nozzle it’s a big ol’ fat spray of water, not a jet, that kind of level of pressure, you understand. This sprinkler is an excellent pressure multipler then.
I wish I could calculate how much water this thing puts out per hour or whatever, but I’m not anywhere near smart enough to do that. I will say however that leaving this thing running for 30 minutes makes my entire garden look like the heavens opened recently and we got a light shower. Very nice indeed!
The only complaint I can think of is how wide the spray is, it easily reaches over the neighbours garden on either side – but you can just turn off nozzles with an easy button press and that problem is instantly solved. The other only plausible issue is the fact the cleaning pin is really annoying to unlock and remove, but I imagine this is a safety feature so your children don’t end up gouging each others brains out or something with it. Using a butter knife, a coin, your shed key, anything that’s strong, sturdy and thin enough to slot into the gap and twist it to unlock it, it easily pops out. Really tricky by hand though.
If you’ve got an interest in watering your poor, beaten, dry and brown lawn and maybe resuscitating it to a verdant and lush bounty, you’ll want to buy this water sprinkler. It’s absolutely fantastic.
Don’t forget the white clover!
Best sprinkler I’ve owned!
Not sure where these people get giving this 1 star! Ignore them! I debated between getting this and a hozelock plus sprinkler as I wanted something that would cover my whole lawn; I was sick of moving my sprinkler around every twenty minutes.
My lawn is not the biggest (10mx7m) but this far exceeds that! I have to turn the end jets off or it will go over the fence either side. Amazing coverage for my needs.
My water pressure is about 2bar but you can hear the motor inside whirring to boost the pressure. Obviously the more jets you turn off the more powerful the spray from the remaining jets but you can just turn down the pressure feed if it’s too much. Goes about 15 foot in the air!
It’s sturdy, easy to use and well worth the money. Everything advertised works as stated and the splash guard is a brilliant feature.
Cannot comment on the longevity as only had a short time but feels like it will last if well cared for.
Don’t be put out by the negative reviews (and note an Aquastop style connector will reduce the pressure by about 30%!). I very nearly didn’t buy this after reading some of the comments. I’m so glad I did. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
We purchased this to help manage our grass growing efforts and the need to keep it well watered. We liked the features hence was willing to pay more for it.
It was very easy to snap on/snap off with our hoze pipe connector and can quickly interchange it with the spray head which we use on specific sections of our garden.
The sprinkler allows easy and watering, covering specific areas of the garden and omitting other areas if you need either by limiting the arc of the watering, or turning off specific sections. We have used both options extensively when watering as we place the sprinkler in 2 – 3 different sections of the garden to ensure coverage, and turn off sections to not-overwater the same areas.
And because we manually move it around, it is also super useful that you can turn off the water flow from the sprinkler itself versus having to turn it off at the faucet. you could also use the protector lever but we found that it is really just easier turning the flow valve off/down.
With regards to water flow, it is dependent on what you get from the mains. On a normal day, it works very well and has a strong flow of water. When both kids are showering and the dishwasher is running, it does affect the water coming out but not so much that it would cause a complaint.
Overall we are very happy with the sprinkler, the robust quality, and the easy to use features.
I bought this sprinkler as we have a medium sized garden & I got fed up of standing out there for ages with the hose. I’m surprisingly, completely impressed. I’d read mixed reviews and because of the price tag of 39 I was concerned, as I could have bought one for half that price & it would probably do exactly the same thing. It takes seconds to set up and is compatible with all Hoselock fittings, it also has 2 prongs that pull out on the underside to act as a ground anchor. Our water pressure is quite low but the coverage is nothing short of amazing. It covers an area approximately 8 x 6 metres in one sweep, but it is possible to shut parts of the sprinkler off by sliding small vents across and you can also restrict the sweep, maybe to avoid windows or sheds etc. There’s an internal filter and cleaning prong for areas that are prone to limescale and I can totally see why this sprinkler is more money than some of its competitors. I would absolutely recommend this product and it is worth the extra money. My only concern is that I’ve bought other Karcher products in the past and their long term reliability has always let me down with only average customer service. So far so good with this product so let’s hope it lasts.
I needed a replacement for a Hozelock round sprinkler which stopped turning around after many years. For an odd shaped gardens like ours, Krcher 5.320SV will work very well. Because it’s wide, it covers much more than a round one and I now have to move its location less often to cover the whole back garden. And with the width regulation buttons, you can target only the areas you need watering (in my case avoiding winding stoned path or delicate flowers in full bloom) which also means water is not wasted. The best of all is you don’t get wet (I was fed up with the round one as I inevitably got wet when changing the position without turning it off). The only thing missing for me is a function to stop oscillating, to water only the narrow borders, but overall I am very happy with the purchase.
Watch out for a deal because the current price shows 20 more than what I paid with Amazon Prime about a week ago. I had to pre-order without knowing when it would arrive but it did within a week.
I wouldn’t normally post a review, but I wanted to share my experience with this sprinkler. There have been mixed reviews of this product in particular about coverage and concerns over water pressure requirements. What I found, I think, is the reason for these issues. When I first used the sprinkler I also had poor coverage and was disappointed, however this morning I worked out what the issue is. I had connected the sprinkler with one of those auto-stop hose fittings that allows you to change the item at the end of the hose without turning the water off and when I attached the sprinkler this morning I had almost no water coming out at all, so I went back to it (with the water still on) and pushed on the connector, only to find that the low pressure issue had been magically fixed (as the sprinkler fired water in my face). I then changed the fitting to one without the auto-stop and suddenly the coverage is fixed and the sprinkler works exactly as I expected. Brilliant! In case Karcher are reading this, I think the issue is that the fitting on the sprinkler is a bit shorter and so doesn’t open the valve in the auto-stop fitting properly.
This is a very clever oscillating sprinkler. I love the features it has namely.
– switchable heads
– water flow control
– water shield
We have a good sized garden roughly 20m x 40m so there’s a lot of grass to maintain. Without plumbing in a permanent sprinkler system an oscillating sprinkler provides the largest amount of coverage.
This device ticks all the boxes, it’s fun for the kids to run through, and when I need to move it I can walk up to the device, turn the flow off and move it without getting a good dousing.
It attaches to our existing hozelock hose without any difficulties.
We don’t have immense water pressure from the mains, but what is good about this device is the ability to turn off some of the nozzles so it only sprays in a smaller zone. Doing this increases the water pressure through the remaining nozzles. So you can have a respectable coverage length wise even with lower water pressure at the sacrifice of width of spray.
All in all I’ve been using it for around three weeks and I’m impressed especially when compared to the more expensive alternatives.
I’ve been debating whether to get a sprinkler for our garden for some time. We have got a reasonable sized couple of lawns, in total about 60m x 7m which are often in a pretty poor state due to moss and over hanging trees, along with a resident collection of squirrels, foxes and avians digging the place up. However, after conducting an extensive lawn repair I felt time was right to get a sprinkler to help keep the grass hydrated while the new seeds are growing. I looked at many sprinklers, and didn’t mind spending a bit of money to get the right one. The main choices tend to be by Hozelock, and they have a considerable choice on offer, however the reviews of them are always just average so I’d put off buying one. Then I happened to stumble across the Karcher sprinkler on Amazon, listed as 15 for Prime members reduced from a 39.99 RRP. The reviews were much better on average than any of the Hozelock products, and there were plenty of reviews to look at showing it was actually quite popular. I have to admit I didn’t even know Karcher did sprinklers..and I own their pressure washers and window vacs so I’m no stranger to them.
The sprinkler is impressively well built and is certainly a chunky product. It is also easily configurable to meet your garden’s needs, which I wasn’t expecting. There are banks of jets pointing in different directions laterally, each of which can be individually turned on or off. Likewise, there are slider controls allowing you to customise how much the sprinkler oscilates in either direction. This is great as you can effectively prevent an area from getting wet, such as on my front lawn where I could stop it from showering passing pedestrians from getting soaked. There is also a slider control to adjust the amount of water coming out, with the ability to turn it off completely. Finally, there is a “patent pending” piece of plastic that rotates around from the side which blanks off the half of the sprinkler closest to you, allowing you to adjust the direction and power of the jets on the other half without you getting a face full of water while you do so. All very well thought out. Naturally, it connects to Hozelock attachments, given they seem to be the industry standard.
I was conscious of our relatively low water pressure (the sort where if two taps are turned on together you end up with a pathetic dribble) and what impact it would have on the performance of the sprinkler. It easily covers the 7m width of the garden and oscillates to a coverage of 8-9m. It means that on my particular lawn with my water pressure I need to move it a few times to give total coverage, but it’s so much easier than wandering over the whole lawn myself.
It has impressive features, is very well built and does an excellent job despite the poor service provide for it. I think I’ve made the right purchase.
Bought this sprinkler as we had been buying cheaper ones which just seemed to break all the time and leak. This’s arrived quickly and was well packaged.
This works well with no leaks only thing is cannot find pin to clean the holes. It does have instructions but where it is supposed to be what I think you have to pull to remove the pin is stuck hard. I don’t want to break it by pulling too hard so will just use a needle of my own. It has a good range and you can turn on and off holes if you want a more direct jets. You can alter whilst on by pulling a flap across but you need to time your advance or you wil get wet. Your water pressure obviously will make some difference on the distance of the sprinkler. Mine is not good but it covers a large area so with good pressure it would work better.
Is it worth the cost..I think a little high priced But definitely better than cheap versions.
We have very low water pressure. There are just 5 houses in a small cluster, and if one household runs a bath, the water pressure drops!! I bought this in desperation as I was fed up with other failing or inefficient sprinklers. It is highly adjustable, and has a feeling of quality when compared to Hozelock etc.
So…does it work? The answer is yes. I have been pleasantly surprised. It oscillates well, and for the most part copes with the pressure issues. Bath running can cause a bit of a problem, but is still oscillates although the jets are not as high. I tried it at a friends who has normal water pressure, and was very impressed by the power of it under normal circumstances.
I would buy again-the best yet that I have found for low pressure.
Very versatile for the range of spray options. The printed instructions are not too useful as they are designed to be universal in all countries but sometimes a little explanation goes much further than a picture. Firstly, there are 7 options for where you can spray the water – a static middle section which cannot be turned off then an additional 6 nozzle options, 3 either side of the centre. You switch these on and off in any combination using the grey push buttons. Next, you have the yellow fins to direct the height and distribution of spray. Lastly, and the bit I initially missed, is the black ‘water throughput’ dial which, being black with the rest of the spray is easily missed as it’s not clear in the pictures what this is. So, I first tried it and obviously had this last dial turned to minimum and I was raging that the sprinkler was so awful. Luckily, I had lent the sprinkler to friends whilst I was on holiday and they raved about it so, knowing my friends aren’t easily pleased, I sat down and looked at it all again and found the black dial. All became clear and wonderful and I love this sprinkler. It’s really sturdy with bits to hang the sprinkler when done. It has retractable spikes if you have a sloping area to water (I don’t so can’t comment on this feature). I was able to use my existing hoselock connectors with no problem. I haven’t used the sprinkler guard as I water my garden one side at a time so can stand behind it whilst I get the spray right. My garden is 10m wide and the sprinkler can’t reach the entire width which is why I do the three sides separately. I bet I’ll update this in a couple of years to say that it’s still working perfectly. Watch this space.
Finally – at last – I am free of the tyranny of the hopelessly unreliable ‘yellow peril’.
This sprinkler, although listed by Amazon as OS 5.320, this is actually the OS 5.320 SV, and comes with a range of useful, reliable and easy to use controls.
Flow control (a rotating knurled grey ring at the input end) – this allows you to adjust the rate of flow and the reach of the spray
Push/pull buttons (a total of twelve: three at each end, on each side). Large enough to be operated without taking your gloves off. These allow you to set the width of the spray – push a button in to close off one segment of the spray, pull out to re-open
Nice big solid ‘ears’ allow you to set the angle of arc through which the sprayer should oscillate
A spray deflector – allows you to do all of this without getting soaked!
As with a growing number of households, our water is metered and the simple, reliable controls on this Krcher sprinkler are really useful in minimising waste.
Finally – should you need it, Krcher have posted a helpful operating video on YouTube, which illustrates how all of this works in practice.
