Bought to drive two lengths of LED tape within two stacked vivariums. Other than the mains input screws being out of position with the holes in the case, this made their fitting slightly awkward, the driver was straightforward to fit and an afternoon of running has proved all to be good … so far.
Anyone looking to fit these to twin and earth cabling in a ceiling (for example), will struggle to terminate the wiring as the mains input connections are pretty darn small, but they wouldn’t be impossible to fit.
Good enough for the task I required this for, a star knocked off due to terminal size/alignment and for the uncertainty of long term reliability.
Using this to power two LED MR16 bulbs, about 8Watts total. It works. If I’m being picky, there is a slight delay (maybe 300ms) on turn on and a dim pulse just after turn off. But I suspect no one else in my family will notice.
Ordered three of these to convert existing halogen bathroom lights to leds. Arrived promptly and in good condition. Relatively easy to install but electrical connections, both input and output, are a bit flimsy and make use of extremely small screwed connection clamps. These can be tightened using cross headed jewellers screwdriver. Overall feel of the product is that it is flimsy but it does the job and all three are now working fine.

Fortunately I had just sufficient space to accommodate the extra length. However, this made it difficult to install so hence the single star.
Deleted my original review as the three LEDs above kitchen cupboards were pulsing and my review was very negative. Since found the issue was with the Tesco LED,s. Having replaced these with Amazon sourced LEDs the unit is performing perfectly satisfactorily. The connection screws are fiddly, and it requires screwdriver types that are used for spectacles etc. Otherwise consider unit good value for money
This led light starter was very easy to fit I just cut of the old cables of the old wired up to the new unit only took a few minutes and it is working fine very happy so far.
I’ve only recently installed two of these, hence the lower star rating: I’ve no notion of their longevity. They work, and having the Input and Output terminals at opposite ends is good. Beware the little plastic blue covers with their handy ‘+’ labelled tabs – to help you with polarity? No. They are wrong – or one of them is. Take the polarity from the markings printed on the body of the transformer. You might need your best glasses, but these are correct.
Wanted to replace some 12v halogen bulbs with LED equivalents but the new bulbs did not function properly using the original transformer.
Purchased and fitted this LED transformer as a replacement and the new bulbs now work perfectly.
Only problem was that the that clamps and screws that hold the input and output wires are very small and a bit awkward to get at – especially if you have big hands!
Overall an excellent product that did the job and was delivered quickly.
It works OK driving my garden LED lighting, but it gets very hot despite the load on it being half of its capacity. Time will tell if its going to last.
It’s now a few months since I wrote the above paragraph and so far all is good and it’s reliable.
We used this along with a DC Bluetooth 5.0 Amp Board, to connect our ceiling speakers to our lighting circuit (separate light switch to turn bluetooth on / off)…. all works well and now our speakers are provided with more power and are now much louder than before. We done this to replace our existing iStar (Bluetooth 4.0) ceiling speaker kit, which we have a couple of Yamaha ceiling speakers connected, however the iStar just wasn’t up for the job, as the bluetooth kept dropping out, causing a noticeable sound delay (when watching films in the lounge), and causing a stutter, etc, however our workshop iStar (with Q Acoustic speakers) would just stop playing music after 5 minutes, or the stutter would kick in…. so being able to connect this high amp / watt transformer has helped us use a better Bluetooth module that can also provide higher watts to our speakers, which I feel the speakers really needed it.
