The kit makes quite a good copy of the Volvo 6×6 dumper when you consider its made from Lego. You must follow the instructions carefully and study the pictures in the manual or you will find it difficult to make alterations later in the build. The model is a bit under powered, does not travel at a very fast speed, not scale like. My kit stalls for a fraction of a second when it moves up through the 3 speed gearbox in Drive mode, does not seem to do this when you set the gear manually!
The model is controlled via a mobile phone app which makes steering a bit clumsy, would be better if a hand control could be used such as a Play station type.

Very good, enjoyable build but not the most challenging, just pay attention to getting the diffs in the right way around and you can’t go too far wrong. Fun to play with and good functionality, although it drives very slow, no matter what gear it’s in, could probably do with an extra drive motor but that’s just me been picky.

Bought for my partner who has enjoyed building lego techniques since his birthday last year. It keeps him busy at the weekends and evenings, he’s like a child totally fascinated with how they are made. Great produc

Cracking g model to build although the instructions are not always perfectly clear! I made one mistake that took me over an hour to correct as the guy on the internet that I asked to check i had done it all correctly was Polish and the language barrier was an issue. Just follow the instructions EXACTLY and you’ll be fine!

Really enjoyed this build. I’m in my 50’s and still enjoy Lego. It just keeps getting better and better. This set is amazing. having the ability to drive it around is amazing. truly a superb set for anyone regardless of age. Still saving for the Liebherr r9800 excavator!

The instructions are comprehensive but not always clear on the drawings. Phone controls work well, very good item.

This is a great build. A really great build.

My ONLY critisism is that the connecting gears between the hyrdaulic hopper raisers and the chassis are weak and do suddenly ‘pop off’ from the chassis. Thankfully the smallest of the cog wheels remains in the confines of the assembly but it’s tricky to get the retaining ‘stick’ piece married up with the cog and the connecting sleeve when everything is in place. Be very wary of this!

The app seems to work well in controlling this substantial item.

As with all fairly complex Technics builds take your time, don’t rush as mistakes can be very time consuming. Stage 4 is definitely more tricky than it looks take note.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great build

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI enjoyed putting this set together. It has 2,173 parts/bricks. Comes in 4 numbered bags. Bag no 1 entails the framework with all the gears. One has to concentrate and be attentive when inserting all the different gears.
Bag no 4 covers building the bucket section where the load is carried. Also here, most pieces are yellow, be alert and make sure all fits together correctly.
Instruction manual contains 436 pages which covers 691 steps to be completed.
Only dislike I have is where the blue tooth hub is positioned. It is positioned behind the drivers seat. Fortunately with the door to the battery compartment facing outwards to enable changing of batteries. Hub takes 6 x 1.5v LR06 AA batteries. The green button to turn the hub on, faces to the inside of the drivers cab. Although a block with a pin is inserted before the button, it is difficult to reach due to small space and black structs holding up the roof.
Volvo Articulated Hauler work with blue tooth.
Once completed, download the Lego Control+ app from the app store. When the app is opened, choose the Volvo Hauler.
The app will guide you as to calibration between the app and blue tooth hub.
Once calibrated, the hauler could be operated, just follow the instructions. Hauler has the facility to change gears or drive in one gear.
Bucket could also be raised to dump the load.
In conclusion, a lovely build, I could recommend this set, children would need adult assistance. A worthwhile investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely set, well designed, good investment. Value for money.

Great build during lock down. Worked first time with no problems. Take your time with the build, be methodical and check everything as you go, as at times the instructions are a little ambiguous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Fun Build, not cheap.

A superb Lego Technic kit, very satisfying build, looks awesome and the app controls are really good.

This model took Me about 14 hours to build and was a really satisfying build. The engineering and attention to detail is superb, especially seeing the engine bay come together.

The app looks great and functions well (if a little slow). It’s very intuitive (and gives you a quick tutorial when you first start it up) and the model responds well enough. I like how you can add a virtual load which affects the performance and the inclusion of challenges / achievements to give you something extra to play for.

Definitely an impressive and worthwhile model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome kit, really nice RC functions

I’m a 53 year old kid who loves this stuff. People say oh its Lego and just for kids but its quite challenging and interesting at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant for keeping you busy.

Lego are always winners. Attention to detail and first class quality. Love to see more of these big builds but really appreciate this Rolls Royce of manufacturer.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLego is the worlds most popular toy for good reason the quality is the best. The kit was perfect, the build instructions likewise. I had 5 extra parts at the end of the build, as usual, I think this is the Danes having a bit of fun with us. Just to make you this you had missed something.

Once turned on the pairing was always 100% for me on my Samsung phone.

**Tip** If you want to turn off the model then close the app completely on your phone or select another model, either turns off the BlueTooth power block(s). There is only one in this kit but two in some of the others.
If you want to climb over thing then you will need to lock in gear 1. Like all remote control Lego the speed is slow and the turning circle large.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI had great fun with my 10 year old grandson helping me build the kit. He is an experienced Lego builder! The new motor for steering is good, but space constraints on the model mean it has a huge turning circle. We had one or two mistakes made in the build, so take each stage carefully and check frequently you have built the step correctly. Mistakes found 25 pages on are difficult to put right! I would class the build as “challenging” i.e. satisfying. You need a smart phone to control the model as this is part of the new “Control plus” motor system Lego is using in its models. I would recommend the model to any Technic fans out there. Not only a great build, but reasonable ‘playability’ for the finished model.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe automatic gearbox in this model (and its integrated control with the app) is a clear indication of interesting future directions for LEGO Technic, demonstrating things they can do with Control+ that were essentially out of reach of previous incarnations of motor control. I also like the nice touch of using the top “light” to switch the model on. To cap it all, the model looks superb. (You can’t raise or lower the hopper while driving, as they share a common motor via the gearbox, but that is probably a wise restriction in the real vehicle too.)

There’s a minor fault in the build manual on page 269 at step 442, but that’s just a swapping of the order of that step with the next small sub-assembly (pages 270-273, steps 443-455) and they can be done in either order as they are non-interfering. Just build through and all will be fine.

During play, a little care needs to be taken when picking the model up as the central joint feels very flexible. The model is fine when on the ground. The model moves at a reasonable pace when in third gear, and crawls along nicely in the lower gears too, especially with the simulated load. If you want to place a real load in the hopper, you need to line the hopper first.
