My Son gave me his opinion on this set. He’s very happy with the set for the price…
Lots of parts for a small set, some fiddly assembly in the first half of the build
Lego city sets are a fun and usually a cheap way to have fun and also parts for other things to build.
Good little build, bought this to complement the backhoe loader and the site dumper sets I already had.
Great LEGO KIT which works exactly as described, looks as good as described, and is durable enough that it’ll be used many times over again. Very easy to recommend.
Great for the price! My ‘grandson’ and his ‘dad’ loved it 🙂
At first, I was worried that the Engineering Toys might be too complex for them, but I was pleasantly surprised that the instructions were easy to follow. With some help from me, the kids were able to build the dump truck in no time at all. Once it was complete, they were amazed at their accomplishment.
The dump truck is a really cool toy. It has a lot of features, like a working suspension, opening engine cover and doors, along with a realistic dump bed with a working lever. My son was also really excited about the excavator digger that is included in the set. He was able to build this by himself and he spent hours playing with it.
There is something fantastically wonderful about technical lego.
This kit for the Dump Truck has three bags of parts, some decals, and a few larger parts.
There are two instruction books which make the build process easy, but challenging to follow.
Absolutely 100% recommended.
I actually built this set myself and had some good fun with it (who doesn’t love Lego). The set is reasonably detailed, and as a result of it being a technic set it also utilises gears to have some moving parts, like the truck bed which can raise and lower.
The construction is pretty simple with a nicely detailed instruction manual in the same format as any other official Lego construction manual. It is also worth noting that Lego do have a fantastic app which has digital instructions and can even split instructions up for multiple people, so you can collaboratively build together – I didn’t try this with this set but I did recently try it with another set and it was a lot of fun!
Definitely a great set with that Lego quality you can’t get anywhere else 🙂
Great step from standard kits to the technucal ines. Easy to follow instructions with moving parts and two models to make out of one (truck ir ceane). At 8.99 this is a great bargain. Recommended
I think this is a great Project for kids who love to build and learn how things work, and for kids who have that interest in cars and vehicles. It does not take long to put together, there are instructions when you open the box making it pretty step by step. Lego Dump Truck is a superior line of high quality Lego Toy Products that’s very Fun and is an excellent hands on creativity playtime. Lego Dump Truck is specifically designed to enhance their concentration skills while having loads of fun.
LEGO 42147 Technic Dump Truck Toy 2in1 Set is a versatile and fun build for LEGO enthusiasts. It features over 420 pieces and can be built as either a dump truck or a bulldozer. The finished models are highly detailed and include functional features such as moving gears and a dump truck bed that raises and lowers.
Fantastic truck got it for my nephew he’s very happy! This is great to help with engineering and also great for the Lego technic set.
This is a brilliant and fun toy as it’s not only to play with but helps you build.
My nephew loved building this truck.
Never been let down by Lego fantastic quality.
My grandson is Marvel mad and this Lego set of the Hulk was ideal for him a built-in following the welly illustrated instructions and he’s always trying to alter the build to make him look different. Keeps him occupied for ages and a good buy
The box for this is much smaller than expected, but the build itself exceeded expectations. The resulting build is a good size and fairly sturdy. The truck is well built and introduces some very basic Lego Technic building techniques; such as the gears used to turn the wheels and lift the dumper.
My son has stuck to the normal Lego sets, so this was a great way for him to see a different way of building. Something as simple as the windscreen really opens up a world of new possibilities. This is a great set to introduce young children into more advanced concepts of engineering and the world of Lego Technic.
This Lego toy keeps on giving. Interesting and enjoyable for 7 year old. Little hands so eager to put it together and then be able to play with what they have made.
This is a really cool entry-level Technic build. It’s 7+ but my five-year-old really wanted to build it so we did it together and he did struggle a little with being able to see where the changes were in the instructions.
Even though it’s quite a basic build, it’s still got some cool little features. You can steer using the little cog on the top of the cab, and the front axle turns, and there’s also a little cog on the side to tip up the back and dump the contents. Great fun.
Thought this will be a tiny vehicle but it’s actually a good size. My 7yo son usually hates working on Lego Pins as it hurts his fingers pushing a piece. I was surprised that he only asked for help once on this build. Instruction booklets are provided for the 2 types of build and easy to follow. Online instruction manual is also easy to find. Love that it can be turned into another vehicle. We got him a Lego Technic Crane for Christmas and he loves playing with it with this. Good value for money.
Just put this together with my son and it was great. These Technic sets seem to be more straight forward the way are built and my 8 year old son did most of the build himself. When put together the truck is really sturdy and allows you to move the back of it up and down to empty anything inside. It does look smaller than on the picture but overall it’s a brilliant little set for the price, my son will have loads of fun playing with this.
With a very enthusiastic Lego fanatic in the shape of my grandson I have become far more of a Lego expert than I was! For a small entry level Technic starter kit you get a decent amount of fun/interest from this. As usual the instructions (in 2 books) are really well thought out and easy to follow even for younger builders. Afore mentioned grandson is quite some way from beginner but it also helps the old folk keep up!
The fact that Technic sets have real moving parts is part of the progression from basic Lego to something rather more “real”. This means that the dump truck tips up nicely which is great. There are online instruction for another design however my grandson is very creative and quickly turned this into other things – the joy of Lego. Great value for this set at under a tenner.
The instructions for building the dumper truck are split across two small booklets. They provide a clear and concise step by step construction guide. The pieces can also be used to build a digger, however the instructions for that aren’t included and are only available to view online.
Each stage is fully illustrated and there were only a couple of times when I was a little unsure of where or how things should attach, even so, I never went wrong or made a mistake all thanks to the accuracy of the instructions.
It took me couple of hours to build working at a leisurely pace. I think it is good to build with your child as an activity, lots of fun to put together.
The set is aimed at children aged 7 plus. I think that’s about the right starting age. But then everyone’s level of ability is different. I think it’s a good introduction / starter set for Lego technic. It’s more complicated than a traditional Lego set, but, it has the added bonus of incorporating functional elements into the design. The back tips up and the front wheels turn. It’s more challenging, complex and exciting especially for a child, while not being too difficult or frustrating to build either.
The finished truck is a sturdily built interactive toy. It’s a great set especially for the price of 8.99 as of January 2023.
This is a fantastic level entry set for LEGO Technic builders, if you are considering one of the larger sets, this will make a great warm up and practice set. The instructions are split into two books which really help pace the his build, the instructions are very easy to follow with guide images and piece comparison spots to make sure you are using the correct LEGO piece.
The dump truck has moving parts, wheels to turn the front wheels to turn when pushed and the back can be raised and lowered via the wheel on the side. This is a genius set, easy to build though younger builders may need some help when it comes to the mechanical parts but it will all come together fantastically at the end. If you wish, you can dismantle this dump truck mode and if you go online, you can get the instructions on how to turn this set into a crane design if you choose, adding rebuildability if you choose to. Fantastic set indeed, very cleverly designed.
Haven’t played with Lego for 40years probably, but decided to build this little dumper truck. Easy step by step instructions with 80ish steps, took me about an hour. Steering works and back tips. Great value for a tenner! It will be going in my office at work, wonder how long it will take people to start playing with it. Great buy.
