more play than build, all comes in its own case, great for little kids, but suspect pieces may get los
The Little Mermaid Story Book Buildable Toy is an enchanting playset that captures the magic of the beloved Disney film. With Ariel, Prince Eric, and Ursula micro dolls, as well as a Sebastian figure, kids can recreate their favorite scenes or invent new adventures. The buildable storybook design adds an extra layer of creativity, allowing children to create and display their own miniature mermaid kingdom. The attention to detail in the characters and accessories is impressive, and the set is designed to be age-appropriate for kids aged 5 and above.
This is a lovely Little Mermaid Lego story “book”. There are 134 pieces and enough for our little one use their imagination. Pricing is reasonable at 18. Particularly love the fact that this folds up into a book and self contains all the pieces. Highly recommended.
I got this for a six-year-old niece to play with. There are lots of little details in the set that make it fun to play with. She liked the locking mechanism and being able to move it about. She also really liked that are there are multiple characters so that she could create her own stories. Putting the stickers on herself was an extra fun activity.
It is a little hard to close and everything has to be laid out perfectly before it can be closed, otherwise the structure inside will be knocked over. It is also easy to knock that structure in the centre over when playing and it isn’t that secure when it is affixed to the base.
Overall, it’s a nice set, though it can be a little frustrating for a small child to play with, as it is a bit delicate.
Our girl loves this little set – she’s a big Little Mermaid fan. The storybook concept works well.
You get enough figures and accessories with the scene to enjoy plenty of small world play time as well as getting enjoyment out of building it.
My little one really enjoyed to play with this Disney Princess book – the size is just perfect to use on the go. We have given it to her whilst travelling on long car journey for our holidays and she managed to play for a good few hours. Very easy to carry she is now bringing it everywhere she goes. The mini-figures are also beautifully made, featuring accurate facial expressions and accessories that truly bring the Disney magic to life.
Our granddaughter loves these little disney lego sets and this one has to be her favourite with the cute mermaid Ariel, Prince Eric,Ursula and Sebastian the crab.
She has such a great imagination and once this was built she was away in her own little world pretending to be a mermaid herself.
The set was easy to assemble with the usual picture instructions Lego are known for, with a 5+ rating, and it all folds up into a cute book that can be locked using the golden key.
This set once opened out has a side. for both Ariel and Ursula, with Prince Eric having to make do with the little step library which has the foldable shell throne on the reverse of his library.
At 17.99 at the time of writing this review,i think its an average price for the brand but my granddaughter loves it so it’s a thumbs up from us.
Very fun to play with, slightly difficult to assemble, but can be done eventually, it can be toppled over quite easily, but other than that it’s a good product and I would still recommend it.
This is just adorable, I haven’t seen a Lego set like this before. I love the book detail and if children watch the new film I could imagine they would have lots of fun playing with this. Good quality as always and great for imaginative play.
Item arrived very well packed, so excellent start, perfect size and more important top quality looks and feels great , for the price can’t fault it, 10 out of 10 from me very happy indeed and would purchase agai
You’ll probably notice that the live-action movie of Little Mermaid is coming out as there are a lot of advertisements around and Lego hadn’t missed a trick by releasing a storybook-building toy.
As with most Lego products, this quality and price is rather good too.
Great for young and old Disney fans alike.
his is the lego disney princess the little mermaid story book, it’s a relatively easy lego set for kids from age 5, there 134 pieces only in total, kids can build a story book with main characters and a mini castle inside
this play set is based on the latest disney movie the little mermaid, the movie is not released in the uk yet, so probably build the set after watching the movie is a good idea, my kids didn’t want to wait, so we built it without knowing much about the story
steps to build were simple and straightforward, my 5 year old kid can follow the instruction without any problem, just need a bit guidance, some colour of the blocks in instructions is misleading though
the story book itself is actually a storage for all the blocks, and it’s lockable, good design so loose pieces are not easy to lost somewhere after play
all in all, i’m satisfied with this product, would recommend
My 9 year old niece loves this Lego set which ties in with the live action version of The Little Mermaid. The set is predominantly a book, which unfolds to reveal a small play set with 3 small areas based of the upcoming film. The set also includes 3 small figures and a host of small items such as a trident, book etc. The quality of the plastic is top notch, and the parts connect with ease. The key at the front of the book can be removed too when using the set and adds to its charm and origins as the flim is based on a book. The bright colours also make it very engaging and this set has really hyped up my niece in to seeing the film. For a small set, it has lots of charm and enough going on in it to keep children enagaged. As such I feel its well worth the RRP and I would certainly recommend it!
If I had one complaint, it would be that Ariel’s hair should have been a lighter red, or more of a ginger even (her skin colour looks like Halle Bailey’s so they at least got that right). That said, this is a brilliant little kit, the storybook design is excellent and really makes it stand out from other LEGO sets! The build is quite simple – there are a lot of bits and bobs and a few cute and interactive pieces to play with but no complicated structures really – so it’s better suited to younger children in my opinion. It’s also super easy to fold it up and put it away, a lot better than other sets that can be a bit inconvenient to store.
This is a cute Lego set for the upcoming Little Mermaid film. It folds into a book that you unlock with a key, so useful for taking with you out and about. The minifigures are quite cute, although personally I think Ursula should be a lot bigger. Also, having not seen the film I’m quite surprised that Sebastian has turned into a crab as he was a lobster in the old version. There’s not an awful lot to build, so I would say it’s more suited to those kids that are really into role-play and story-telling rather than those that want to build Lego.
This is a sweet little Lego set that’s a sort of vignette-in-a-box. Silly though it sounds given that it’s all Lego, it feels like it evokes the story of the Little Mermaid quite nicely (though I haven’t seen the new film version yet), and the colour scheme is rather pretty, with the gold pieces, that I’m not normally a fan of, working well as a highlight against the purple and aqua colours. The little mini-Lego-Friends-style minifigs are particularly adorable, and there are some sweet little props, like the unusual seaweed-ish plants.
The locking mechanism is quite neat, just a little bit of Technics makes for an effective ‘lock’, though an invasive sibling who wanted to open the box wouldn’t really struggle to open it if they really wanted to.
Unfortunately though I do have some various minor criticisms. There’s not a lot of variety or playability here- there’s no real baseplate to speak of and there’s very little to be done with these pieces except position them exactly as they are in the instructions, then move the minifigs around a little bit. It doesn’t have the open-ended scope of other sets, though I’ve seen this problem with other film-tie-in Lego sets.
The set is for five-year-olds and up, but it’s a little bit fiddly, and many of the prop pieces are quite small. The key is a prime example of a piece that could get lost, but it’s not the only one. It’s a mish-mash of other pieces.
The asking price for this set is eighteen quid, and for what’s in the box, by Lego standards I’d say that’s an average price, or just ever so slightly a steep price, probably thanks to the Disney factor. It is adorable in its own way and it will certainly appeal to fans of the film, but it feels like a set that’s more likely to be looked at than played with.
My niece absolutely loves anything to do with Disney’s Little Mermaid collection so she was really pleased to get this set. The set has come at a perfect time when the movie is releasing in the UK. This Lego set is actually a book set. It has 134 pieces. You get three beautiful mini figures – Ariel, Sea witch Ursula and Prince Eric. I absolutely love the expression on Prince Eric’s face. Ariel comes with sparkles and a fish tail which looks quite cute. Love the yellow flower head piece. The tentacles on Ursula are very well designed and her green eye make-up and raised brows are just perfect. The set comes with bright colourful stickers. These stickers add a lot more detail to the book. The book has a golden binder and the front part of the book has an amazing image of Ariel and Ursula. The image is very well designed and the image quality is also very good. Instruction booklet is good and has easy to follow steps.
Ariel’s shell throne and her Contract tile are my favourite. The book comes with a locking mechanism and a golden key which works smoothly.
Only bit which could have been a bit better is Sebastian the Crab and Ursula is missing her famous beauty spot.
All in All, another brilliant Disney Mermaid set from Lego. Currently priced at 17.99, I would say this is a good price especially due to the fact that you get 3 beautiful figurines. Perfect little present for any Lego + Disney Mermaid fan.
