This is a great fire striker my 5 year old can even use it in forest school (under supervision).
I can highly recommend this fire steel! It’s good quality (durable) and it’s easy to use. I have used many different ones for work and this one works best (even when it’s wet).
I posted a video to disprove all the people that say this product does not work. I used natural wood firelighters as kindling by shredding it up so it light and fluffly like cotton wool. This is infact better than cotton wool because it burns for longer.
This kit was used to light the Christmas Pudding. It is sturdy and very useful although it can take a few tries to get the knack of starting a fire
I’ve had a few similar ones but all of them took ages to actually spark! This one sparked straight out the bag. Brilliant, fills me with confidence that it’ll work when I need it.
After taking my toddler to forest school and using many different fire strikes – we decided to get one of our own. Its easy to use for myself and little one (4 years old). Great quality.
Very small, simple, light… and lights fires easily.
I use on gas fires too, like gas barbecues and side burners.
Makes a good spark every time.
Not the cheapest, but very good.
It’s a Light my fire product so you’ll get a good quality ferro rod. This smaller version is perfect for putting in my camping stove set for use when out on the hills.
I had to get a new striker as I had a life system one and it was so hard to catch a spark and then disintegrated a year in. Had this on my first trip and it is so easy to catch a spark and lights really easy. It’s sturdy in the hand and doesn’t slip. I would buy this again and again in the future
It’s a firesteel, so there really isn’t a lot to go wrong with it. It’s small but I wanted small, because it has to fit into quite a small space. You have to remove the paint covering first, just like you have to with any new firesteel, but once you have cleaned it off it stikes really well. The striker has a slightly raised lip on one side that does a really good job of creating a lot of sparks. I have successfully used it to light fires.
