This product I would say is worth buying and is good for the money but performance wise I would say it feels realistic like a real gear shifter.
From my experience I’ve been using this for over a month now pared up with my g923 and it is very compatible with that and a friend that uses the g920 says it is also compatible with that and easy to set up, over this month I’ve seen that it is very very durable and low noise.
It is a very simple product there are no buttons on it which gives it even more durability as it’s just a stable gearstick.
Overall I would say if you are looking for a very accurate and precise gear shifter for the g923 or g920 I can say you should purchase this as it’s cheap and very compatible with the 2 wheels I have used it on.
Awesome product if paired with the g29 wheel. Performs great and connectivity has no delay. All the settings/buttons are on point and very durable. Had it since last summer and has gone through some harsh gameplay but still holding up like new.
In some gears you have to push hard, especially gear 5. I don’t know if it’s a common problem but I have it and it’s really annoying. Other than that, it is a satisfying and fun piece of entertainment.
Bought on sale for 25, definitely worth it for that price but not worth the full asking price at all. It’s cheaply made. But for 25 it’s a bargain. Using a cheap eBay sequential mod for it makes it brilliant for rally games. Never actually used it as a H pattern so can’t comment on that. Beware though that it is only compatible with the Logitech wheels unless you buy a separate adapter cable which is very pricey, about 28.
Review:
I recently added the Logitech G Driving Force Gear Lever to my gaming setup, and I can confidently say it’s a game-changer for any racing enthusiast. Paired perfectly with my Logitech G923 racing wheel, this gear lever elevates the driving experience to a whole new level of realism.
First and foremost, the build quality is exceptional. The gear lever feels sturdy and durable, crafted with high-quality materials that ensure longevity even under intense gaming sessions. The sleek design seamlessly integrates with my racing wheel setup, adding a professional touch to my gaming rig.
One of the standout features of this gear lever is its precision. The gated six-speed shifter provides tactile feedback with each gear change, allowing for precise control over acceleration and deceleration. Whether I’m navigating tight corners or unleashing top speed on straightaways, the Logitech G Driving Force Gear Lever delivers responsive performance that enhances immersion and realism.
Installation was a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly design and seamless compatibility with Logitech G923, G29, and G920 racing wheels. Within minutes, I was ready to hit the virtual track and experience the thrill of manual gear shifting like never before.
Another highlight is the versatility offered by the gear lever. With a push-down reverse gear and a sequential shifting option, I can customize my driving experience to suit different racing styles and preferences. Whether I’m racing in Formula 1, rallying on dirt tracks, or tearing up the asphalt in a high-speed GT race, this gear lever adapts effortlessly to any scenario.
In conclusion, the Logitech G Driving Force Gear Lever is a must-have accessory for any racing simulator enthusiast. Its exceptional build quality, precision performance, and seamless compatibility make it a valuable addition to any gaming setup. If you’re serious about sim racing and crave the ultimate in control and immersion, look no further than this fantastic gear lever from Logitech. Highly recommended!
Definitely worth the price and feels really good paired with the G920. It just fits on the wheel stand which is good and adds even more immersion to the game
Works well feels sturdy when mounted on a frame. The gear shifting itself is the weak point for the product constantly miss shifting due to the short loose changing going from second to 3rd end up in first going from 4th to 5th end up in 3rd plan on getting a 3d printed mod to stiffen it up a bit and sequencial mod. Price point is decent. Ok for budget/first sim setup
Don’t get me wrong this is very good for the money although I find every time I go to change gear I always change to another gear as it’s to easy to change gear. Wouldn’t recommended for intermediate sim racers but for beginners I would, hope this helped!
This product is okay it’s very basic and doesn’t feel amazing however does the job. If your not looking to spend too much then I guess it’s your product just do not expect amazing results it feels clunky and material feels not good.
Good for the price, did suddenly stop working at one point though. I opened it up to see why and the wire had fallen off the bottom of the gear stick assembly. I re-attached it and it worked just as before. 4 Stars since this could of been avoided if it was attached properly in the first place.
I only needed this for light duties and it works just fine so I am happy. If your racing rig is going to have some hefty use then I suggest getting the more expensive version that has, I believe, a metal restrictor plate inside and other more hard wearing updates
This works but not all driving games are not compatible. I have F1 2021, GranTurismo Sport, and Dirt2 that work. WRC doesn’t and no matter how I configure the game it just don’t work. It also takes a bit of time to get use to and missing the gears. E.g going into 5 instead of 3, is something that can be eliminated with practice. It’s well made and feels comfortable to use. Tried mine on a stand and with the adjustable legs fully clamped it still came off. Luckily I had a stand that enabled me to bolt it securely. All in all for the price is a good responsive shifter.
So let’s get it out of the way first: this is a tiny little thing that looks and feels like a children’s toy. You can shift it with a pinky finger if you so desire.
But like the G29, it’s pretty sturdy and can put up with rough usage. Coming in at a bargain basement price, this is an essential piece of kit for those who want to experience an authentic vintage racing experience.
Just as you’ll never go back to a gamepad once you get your G29, you’ll never go back to paddle shifters once you get your Driving Force Shifter.
It is a nice addition to the Logitech racing wheel, I personally use the Logitech G923 so normally I would be using the pedal shifters behind the wheel, but every now and then I quite like to use the stick shifter just for fun. To me, it does the job, it gives you the idea of driving like a manual shift car, the only thing I don’t like is the shifting between each gear is a bit light, maybe my real car has much tighter/heavy shifting but this one seems more on the light side. I have owned a Civic Type R before and this Logitech shifter is even lighter than that, so you could imagine how light it is to do the shifting here, I could do the gear shift with two fingers, so to me it is a bit too light for my likely, but it still does the job, it gives you the simulation of changing gear like a normal car, I know there are after market modification parts which you could purchase to make the gear shift tighter or even changing it to sequential gear box, but that is entirely up to you. As it is, it is fine to use, if you don’t mind it being light to shift. Built quality is good, as per the Logitech steering wheel. Hope you will find this useful.
If you’re reading these reviews then you’re probably trying to figure out: ‘this looks cheap and plasticky, is it really worth trying?’
And I’m happy to say that in my experience, yes it is.
I’ve owned a number of steering wheels over the years but have never been a massive racing game enthsiast. However I’ve been a bit obsessed recently after buying a Logitech wheel for Xbox. A gearstick quickly became the next obvious upgrade to my setup and I was a bit worried that this would be a rubbish novelty that I’d quickly grow tired of.
Does it feel like a real gearstick? Well no. The ‘throw’ into each gear is quite light, subtracting a bit of ‘feel’ that you’d hope for. It’s also sometimes easy to put it into the wrong gear or occasionally tricky to get it into reverse (Push down and into ‘6th’) – although these never ruined my experience. I would highly reccomend playing around with your chosen game’s settings a fair bit until it feels right, especially the clutch pedal deadzones and sensitivities.
However, once you give it an hour or two of practice it does become second nature and slips into muscle memory. I found myself adapting to this far quicker than the paddle shift on the wheel and it gave me a lot of extra control when playing rally games where I wanted to drop down to a specific gear quickly. Overall it adds a huge amount to the experience of driving games and I don’t think I’d want to play them without it now.
There are a few modifications I’ve seen online that you can do to this too (which I haven’t tried ‘yet’). There are some 3D printed parts that improve the feel of the gear changes and you can also swap out the stick head for something more realistic. I’d check youtube for some tutorials if interested.
I may find myself upgrading to the solid metal Thrustmaster shifter one day, but I’m definitely happy with this to pass the time.
Reviewed using Project CARS and DiRT Rally on the PS4.
The Logitech Driving Force Shifter is an almost essential add on for the G29 for the sim-racing enthusiast. I bought this at a price point of 24.99 – (down from it’s previous price of 49.99, which felt a little dear), and I’ve found it to be well worth the money.
It’s a well packaged, premium item (much like the G29 wheel itself). It’s a leather wrapped, steel shaft, six speed shifter with a push-down reverse. It’s connected via a serial port, not via USB – so this won’t work as a stand alone gear shift, and is only compatible with the G29 (note that you CAN use the G27 shifter with the G29 wheel). The gear changes are short and well defined, with the shifter finding each gear with a reassuring clunk. The shifter gate is plastic – which you can feel a little when you change gears, but it’s clearly very solid and well made so overall doesn’t detract from the experience. A little oddity is the push down reverse (which feels like it’s below 6th gear) – it’s a little bit awkward at first, but I haven’t found that overall, it affects regular driving.
Gameplay wise, it really makes a huge difference – particularly with Project CARS, giving a real authenticity to driving the manual shifting vehicles, more than I thought it would. It’s a genuine thrill to be able to use a full manual gear stick, adding a depth to the game that you’d normally only see on a PC (again, note that this IS compatible with the PC, I’ve only used this on the PS4 though). It really does bring the game close to the track day experience. I was concerned that using this with DiRT Rally – an already challenging game – would make it extremely difficult, but I actually found that it makes handling a rally car somewhat easier, being able to drop through several gears at once definitely decreased my stage times, plus I find a manual gearbox a little more intuitive than the paddles (I sometimes mis-shift if I have the steering wheel upside-down and I’ll shift up instead of down). I’ve also seen kits for this stick that will convert it to a sequential shifter (basically – it’s a rubber band) for a more authentic rally experience.
Overall – for 24.99 this is a brilliant buy that brings racing games to life – it’s enhanced my experience of racing game more than I thought it would. It’s definitely well worth spending the money on.
