Fabulous card game for the family. This one was a gift for a friend. Turned up on time and as expected
Great family game. There are two versions available on Amazon, this one has instructions so small that they are unreadable. The other is a little more expensive but worth the extra for the rule sheet. Otherwise they are the same
Loved this very much. To play all 10 Phases does not take very long, so you can play multiple rounds in an evening.
Really good, fun game. Needs a bit of concentration, maybe just me!, makes a change from the usual card games.
There are 2 versions to play. The 1st is definitely an adult game but the simpler one is really good fun.
Found this game when on a cruise visiting New Zealand and spent many hours on sea days playing this. Delighted to find it on Amazon (UK) when back home & introducing it to our friends and family. Great game, so frustrating at times but still good fun even when losing! Apparently it’s been available for years, according to fellow travellers from America, but we’ve only just found it.
Had so many fun games nights with friends n family of all ages
Quick and easy to learn, fun for all the family.
Really thoughtful game- lots of twists and turns. Scoring is ok, but we found keeping a note of what phases each person had completed helped everyone to focus on what they were collecting. Good way to spend an evening.
This is the second pack of these cards I have purchased from Amazon, both Mattel brand. But this second pack is much better in quality than the first.
Based on this purchase the overall quality is what I would expect for the price I paid.
As a family we have been playing Phase 10 for about 30 years. First came across this game in America and have bought many packs over the years as they get well used, especially on holiday, but taking scoring paper is a must . Would highly recommend for people who enjoy a game of cards.
Need to engage with your kids or while away a few evenings with family and friends away from the tv and tech? Phase 10 is for you. Easy to learn and fun to play. You can have a quick game or one that lasts for hours. Play your own way and try to win.
Excellent game and good orice and delivery. Dropped a point as the cards themselves not top quality already showing signs of wear. Shame as very notable for all the family to play.
This is a great game for the family. It can take a while to play with 4 people but it really is fun. It’s well thought out because the way the phases change, means the dynamic of the game develops for each player. Even if you’re way behind it gets easier to catch up.
We’ve got so many other family and friends hooked on this game – rather like Uno it is really easy to pick up and know what to do, and suitable for any age. Really easy to put in your travel bag. You do really need a notepad to record who is on what phase and the points adding up, and one game to get through all the phases can be too much for one sitting. It does twist and turn, so winning a couple of phases doesn’t mean its a done deal, sometimes one person just gets stuck in one phase for round after round – the luck of the draw! For those that know gin rummy it is loosely based on this i.e. sets of same number or runs of numbers in sequence – but it is easier to pick up and there are more variations on the combinations you need to get phase by phase.
Phase 10, typically, is played in 10 rounds, or phases, which have different goals that need to be achieved. Completion of a phase means you can progress on to the next phase till you reach, and complete, phase 10.
This is a relatively simple game to play, once you have got the general rules figured out, that shouldn’t take long.
The phases have goals for you to achieve, collect a set of numbers, get a run of numbers etc.
What I found is that for something simple and easy, it takes a lot longer to play than you think.
Each player turn is relatively fast but it’s the round ending condition of having an empty hand that causes the most issues with timing.
As it’s all about card drawing, this is extremely luck dependent at times but it does add a little bit of tension, and frustration, which does add to the fun.
This is a very accessible card game and suitable for most people, but it might be an idea to generate a few simple rule/ play adjustments to smooth out the different rounds/ phases.
All in all I personally like it and feel it’s a good alternative to Uno (though I feel the only similarities are the card designs).
Saw some Germans playing this game whilst we were on holiday. Amazon seemed to be the only place to purchase it once we were back in the UK. We had seen the Germans using printed score sheets and when we contacted Mattel to purchase a pad of them, they said this wasn’t one of their products?! So we sourced an example on line and printed out our ow
The cards are a little bit difficult to shuffle because of their making, at least the way i am used to shuffling cards, but that is just my personal preference, or it could just be that they are still new and i haven’t used them as much yet. The package includes the rules and the phases of the game. The rules are pretty clear and easy to understand and the game is fun for both small and big groups of people.
The time between the purchase and the delivery was roughly 3 days, which I think is very good and fast.
The item arrived without problems to the address provided.
I have previously bought this game from Amazon US and it was a deluxe edition so I can see the differences in storage (now: carbox; before: tin) and quality (different colours, texture and thickness in the cards material).
It is an original mattel game.
As I am happy to have found it (not available in Ireland).
I will consider myself very pleased with the purchase, although I would prefer to buy the deluxe tin pack again in the future.
Good product and fun game. Enjoy.
This is a good game if you have staying power as it can take some time to work your way through all of the phases. I have played this with a large number of players and then just two people. I would definitely say that it is more fun with more people.
As a newbie to the game I must confess that I did need to watch a YouTube clip to fully understand the rules. I found the written rules a little confusing in places, maybe because I haven’t played a card game like this before.
Overall, good fun and it bought out my competitive side.
We first encountered Phase 10 about 10 years ago while holidaying in the Nilgiris in S India. In the guesthouse where we were staying the pattern was for guests to play various family games each evening. Phase 10 was a top favourite. The American couple who owned 2 sets kindly gave us one, and we have played it ever since with grandchildren, teenage friends, families. It provides fun and challenge for hours on end. We have bought many sets and given them as much appreciated gifts to friends in Ireland, England, Germany, USA, Brazil. It works really well even when participants have little English…..the last Phase 10 we gave is now being used by Brazilian families on their beach vacation. I would add that it is possibly advisable to play it first time with someone who can help with the instructions – but not essential.
I was introduced to this card game by friends from New Zealand. Have taken it along on every holiday since there is nearly always room for a pack of cards in even the most over packed suitcase. It is all about building sets and runs of cards with a twist of revenge play in the “skip” cards, progressing through ten phases and keeping tally of the score points. Pen and paper required for this. Easy to learn and fun for everyone. Suitable for 2 to 6 players.
A good family game. Everyone works at their own level, but the overall winner is not inevitable, there can be twists and turns in the game.
Having 10 phases means that it is not as fiercely competative as some games, so youngsters do not get as “up tight” about the fact that they are not winning(at the moment). That is why I say it is a relaxing game.
I have only given it 4 stars because there was no scoring card in my pack. In the one my grandaughter bought in German there was a score sheet, which could be photocopied. We had to design our own, based on what we could remember of the German version. Otherwise it would definitely have got the 5th star from me.
