Great for my newborn who had to wait for my milk to come in (due to early C-section). Wanted to avoid nipple confusion, so had this recommended.
Now 11 days old, baby is able to have 2 Medela cup feeds incorporated into her feeding schedule so Momma can get some precious sleep whilst avoiding the complication of introducing a bottle teet that may affect future breast feeding success. Little bit more milk run off at mouth but trialing different techniques of tilting spoon part soon clarifies what works best for your baby to reduce waste/ingestion milk at a rate they’re comfortable with
Medela is just amazing with all their products! The science behind their products is just exactly what you are looking for! My girl was premature and is still on oxygen so weight gain is one of the main concerns right now. She was pump feeding before and when started bottle she started to lose weight which is a bit of a concern for her healthcare visitors. So for now I have started this bottle and now she drinks the milk and doesn’t get tired like with the usual bottle. Hats of to the inventors of this product!
This is a great device. I haven’t managed to feed the baby with it though because I insisted on him taking the bottle and he did in the end. But this is an alternative or something to have as safety if the baby doesn’t drink milk in another manner. (My child was 3 months when I tried to give him the bottle with breast milk and he wouldn’t take it so I became desperate and bought whatever possible so he can survive if for some reason I am not around.)
The only thing my 6 months old daughter would drink breastmilk from now that she started nursery. We had tried all bottles and beakers we could get. This works for now and it’s easy enough to use
This is a fantastic invention. Our newborn was unable to take the breast at first due to being premature and tongue-tied. We used to use cups, which lead to spillage of the precious expressed milk. This allows for a small amount to be dispensed into the “cup” at the end, and acts like a refillable spoon. We showed the softcup to the nurses in the maternity ward, who were all very impressed. Wholly recommend to anyone needing to feed their baby with a cup
The softcup was recommended to me by a friend who was in the same boat. I was looking for an alternative feeding system for my 5 weeks old as I was planning to return at work when he turns 8 weeks. I wanted to continue breastfeeding him and avoid the breast/bottle confusion. We started the “training” as soon as the bottle arrived, it was indeed very messy initially and he was not very happy, but as soon as I stopped feeding him myself and let my mum doing it while I am not around, he accepted it extremely well. I would totally recommend it to anyone who is returning early at work and wants to continue breastfeeding and avoid the bottle feeding confusion. But be aware that it needs a bit of training indeed as it can get frustrating and messy initially, and it needs to be used by anyone else except yourself, as the baby will always prefer the breast towards the cup.
Lavage facile
Amazing!! I wish I’d found it 4 years ago for my daughter who was a total bottle refuser! My little boy is almost 12 weeks old now and I’m starting to want a bit of a social life back, or at least a glass of wine in the evening. Having happily accepted one bottle if expressed milk a day from birth, at 7 weeks he realised it wasn’t the real deal and started to protest. Big time. He would have the house down if we came anywhere near him with a bottle. We tried all the usual techniques thrown out by Google- different bottles/ teat flow/ positions/ person/ time if day/ formula etc etc but the boy is stubborn. After a desperate Amazon search for ‘baby feeding system’ I bought this (which initially I thought was expensive, but now I’d happily give my right arm for!) and it arrived the next day- Hallelujah! There’s a bit of a knack to using it and a feed takes a while, but it’s smiles all round from baby and my sanity remains in tact! It’s really simple to put together and if it leaks you probably have the valve in upside down, seriously a monkey could do it. The bottle is only small (80ml/ 2 1/2oz) but I think the lid will probably screw on to any old narrow necked bottle.
My advice is do it! If your baby is a bottle refuser don’t waste money on different bottle types, it’s the sucking action they don’t like, not individual teats. This is a totally different feeding method, but also as natural to them as breastfeeding.
In case you didn’t know what this was it is a cup feeder for babies. Basically if your little one is not bottle fed and is struggling with breastfeeding then cup feeding is a short-term solution. Ask your midwife for advice.
The upside to cup feeding is that your little one doesn’t get nipple confusion and shouldn’t get spoilt from using a fast flowing teat.
The downside to cup feeding is that it can get very messy, you have to concentrate to ensure the milk doesn’t choke baby and feeds can take ages.
This Advanced Cup Feeder is designed to make cup feeding much easier as:
1) Only a small amount of feed is actively being fed to baby at any time – so less chances of flooding baby’s mouth
2) A reservoir tops up the active feed when you squeeze it – so you can control the speed of feed
3) The mouth piece is very soft plastic (BPA free too) – cups tend to be hard palstic
5) The mouth piece is also contoured and shaped to fit into a baby’s mouth
6) You can use any Medela bottle with this. The one that comes with it is only 80ml.
My baby completely refuses bottle.. We have tried all the possible brands available in the market like Avent, tomeetipee, playtex, breast flow, Medela Calma.. When I realised she likes feeding in a spoon, I bought this and there is no looking back now.. She is so excited as soonas she realises I am bringing this near her mouth… It’s very convenient when you want to feed outside, unlike a spoon which is quite messy..
A must try if you baby is one of those refusing bottles… It’s a bit expensive but you wouldn’t care when you find out it works!!
