These sets Will always be compared to Lego, because they’re the best at it. At least this is priced accordingly. While it’s a decent set, with better build quality than many other non-Lego sets, you can tell it hasn’t received the same level of thought that goes into Lego products – the instructions aren’t great, for example. But nevertheless, it’s a decent set for a reasonable price.
It’s a little surprising that Lego hasn’t licensed the Pokemon brand, but this is the next best thing. This set contains 193 assorted bricks plus Eevee and Lucari characters. The bricks are compatible with Lego and of equivalent quality.
Aimed at kids of seven years and up, I’d say that’s about right, though younger kids in that range might need a little help. The instructions are good and in much the same format as those of Lego.
Overall, this makes for a good set that would work best if complementing a larger kit.
I brought this as a gift for my 7 year old who is just getting into Pokemon and already likes bricks.
Its great for any poke fan! The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the bags are all individually numbered making it a nice simple and easy build. Great to play with or to pop on a shelf on display.
My son loved it.
Also worth noting is the apparent genius working for MEGA that thought it would be a good idea to perforate the bags for easy opening….. Parents everywhere applaud and thank you
This MEGA Pokmon set is great for any Pokmon fan, especially if you plan to get some of the other sets in this range.
The build is very similar to Lego, decent price and I would say that the 7+ age rating is appropriate.
My eight year old grandson loved this set.

The bags are numbered so that the child knows which order to open them, which makes it easier. Together with the easy to follow instructions it it easier and less frustrating for the child to assemble the pieces.
This is the sort of toy that will have the adults wanting to get involved or is that just me.
Added to that they look great when assembled.
My son (8yr old) enjoyed building this pokemon set – the instructions were easy for him to follow, hes a keen pokemon fan and said the characters included are quite popular but not the main ones. Compatible with legosso you can extend and include extra peices. For branded Pokemon merch its actually well priced – though once completed it is pretty small.
Before now the only way to satisfy your brick building needs as a Pokemon fan was to buy the counterfeit Lego style figures from Chinese websites. Now MEGA has stepped up with Pokemon themed sets to satisfy little nerds everywhere. I previously had a MEGA model of a Sherman tank and it was every bit as good as Lego except of course our Danish friends don’t like war.
Ignore the age recommendation and make your own judgement on whether this is suitable for your child. My Pokemon fan is my four year old granddaughter and she is more than capable of building this set and playing with it. How could I deny her when he favourite Pokemon is Eevee. My four year old grandson however doesn’t have the patience for small parts and putting them together.
Every bit as good as Lego and just as much fun.
The pokemon building set is aimed at younger children and so isn’t as fiddly as Lego.
It comes with two pokemon characters and is easy and fun to assemble the pieves to make thd playset up. Even better if you have any of the previous sets to connect them together making a bigger playset.
It is a fun set, the provided Pokemons are the cuter ones so makes them more appealing to play with. Once all put together there can be hours of happy playing.
As an adult I’m impressed with this playset as it is affordable, sturdy, colourful and requires creative thinking – plus the huge 55% discount is very attractive. Also I liked that you get all of the necessary play pieces & two figurines, so that the kids can play with it straight out of the box.
As for ages it’s untended for I can say that our 11 year old became bored with this set in little over an hour and branded it as “a kiddie toy”, whilst it’s popular with our seven and nine year old testing assistants; which means that other MEGA Pokmon building sets will no doubt be at the top of upcoming birthday wish-lists [they even wanted me to open the Amazon brand page so that they could ‘look’ at them].
At the end of the day this is a children’s toy, so I don’t feel as though I can judge it harshly; the peace and quiet I get as this is enjoyedspeaks volumes to me. I really recommend this set as a gift too; I think it’s especially great for kids in the 5 – 10 age bracket; it is something that gets played with every other day in our house.
This was a big hit for our son who loves pokemon! A fairly small set so not too tricky to build. All parts came in numbered bags. This is a mega bricks set but would be compatible with other brands of play bricks. Ideal for 7+
This is a fun build, good quality and satisfying to build and play with when built.
It is mega, not Lego but you would be hard pushed to tell the difference.
The instructions are clear and easy to follow, the pieces strong, built to last and the kind of quality you expect from a big name.
Requested this product from Amazon Vine as my nearly-7 year old son liked the look of it – not really a Pokmon fan but it appealed to him.
It’s well organised into separate, numbered bags with the small bits in their own bags too. The instructions are okay but not as good as Lego (for example). Everything just took a lot of concentration, was a bit fiddly (lots of tiny pieces) and several adjustments where we had made mistakes, and my son gave up halfway through the first bag.
The finished product looks good and fairly durable (probably want to attach some of the loose food items to the cart or picnic table) – the wobbly umbrella on the spring is providing amusement.
