Unfortunately it’s not as well put together ,as some blocks for learning we’ve purchased. Obviously it does do what they we’re intended for quality isn’t the best card is thin and stickers on the Z block peeled off.
A good game for kids to learn and recognize the Alphabets
When choosing a gift I was trying to remember what my own children had played with as 2 year olds. My youngest (now 8), had these and absolutely loved them! I remember being disappointed that they were cardboard, but they’re pretty robust and daily play including being a carrier for various toys didn’t damage them. My daughter played daily with them for 3 years and we eventually gave them to our local preschool when she outgrew them at age 5! I hope my friends child enjoys them as much. They’re great for language, counting, colours & dexterity skills.
Bright and colourful Childs toy in keeping with the brand. Not quite as sturdy as I had expected and not sure of the longevity of this item compared to other stacking toys of this type. Overall still a nice product which will be enjoyed for its colourfulness and educational aspect.
These are cardboard so you can’t expect them to stay in pristine condition for long but my daughter has continued to happily stack them. They are the tallest stackable toy we have found.
Ordered this item as a gift was very disappointed to find one of the blocks missing and doesn’t give you the option to contact seller would have to send whole thing back when my son loves them wouldn’t buy from these agai
My twin granddaughters love these stacking boxes. Aside from knocking them down as soon as you stack them, they love to find all the animals on the side. In face if you say bring the block with the cow on it, they will make the noise of the cow. An easy sound for them to remember and also recognise the animal. At 18mths they can’t read yet so this is a good animal/letter recognition tool. They also like to sit on and use the boxes as shoes! They are still standing and not fallen apart yet. Would highly recommend.
Amazing product from Melissa & Doug.
Bought this for our son, he really loves stacking all the boxes and then placing them back inside the box.
Great for developing skills.
Highly recommended.
These are good, but my own fault is I should remember to read the description. I didn’t realise they where cardboard when first ordered but they are a thick cardboard and so far lasted longer than I thought they would with my little man.
Its made of cardboard but not plastic. Does the job not so stable but the colors look beautiful, yet messy and confusing for a 1 year old.
I bought this for my daughters first birthday. She loves it but so does her brother aged 4. A great toy. I was worried it may not be durable however it has lasted despite being knocked over regularly
Love this product!! Its helped my 2 year old little man become more vocal too!! He’s able to point and see animals or objects we see and he’s no repeating them. Also he’s started to point to the letters, recognise the letters and to try repeat them
Great toy that is fun for both my 1 year old and 3 year old.
Not sure what the complaints are about it being made of cardboard… It can’t be any heavier or they’d be complaining of injuries when it gets knocked down?
My 3yr old did try and use some as stepping stones and yes they will collapse if kids do that.
I’ve brought 3 altogether as gifts for 1st birthday presents.
My 14 month old daughter LOVES these blocks. She carries the smallest “z” block around with her like a comfort blanket (ok slight exaggeration) and a couple have had a bit of a chew and have survived to tell the tale, which is good! They are really lovely and colourful and made well. They create a fab tall tower for her to knock down and the boxes are lightweight enough that a bonk on the head doesn’t do any damage (hopefully)! I would definitely buy these again and recommend to anyone who has a child who, like mine, loves stacking things!
These boxes are really great. My children, especially my 1 and 2 year old play with them all the time and 3 months later and they’re absolutely fine. They are knocked over, thrown and stacked up again… they’re used daily…. they’re v durable!
Love Melissa and Doug toys. This is a great stackable tower. Would give 5 stars but (1) it’s a cardboard boxed base with paper on top so my little one has slowly started to peel the paper off. If your little ones are curious and see a little paper hanging off then don’t buy…they’ll rip into the pieces. (2) again because it’s a cardboard base the little ones sit and step and flatten the boxes…but that’s because toddlers are crazy 😀 But generally it’s a really nice tower (even when little one demolished the letter Z by flattening it!)
I bought these for my one year old
When they arrived I was very pleased with the packaging and the design
Although after giving them to my daughter to play with I was less impressed
They are made from cardboard so as one year olds do she shoved it straight in her mouth after 2 min it was soggy and unusable and my little one had a mouth full off cardboard I feel it would be better made of plastic
Made of good quality strong card…my 18 month old granddaughter loved building up the tower and then knocking it down again.
Bright and colourful with lovely pictures and letters of the alphabet on each one…I’m sure she will get a lot more out of it…as in
recognising and relating the letters to the pictures. A good fun yet educational toy. If your child is one that likes to step on his/her
toys then put it away until they are ready for it. Albeit strong it is made from card…and when the tower is pushed over with lots of
clapping and glee it doesn’t hurt the child!
For the price its unbeatable.
It is just solid card but it holds up well. As long as no one sit’s on it. It’s bright and has nice clear pictures. And the alphabet down the side
I bought these for my son at 1 year old and even nearly 3, he still loves to play with these. There’s lots to explore with the pictures on the side. They have suffered a bit through wear and tear but that’s mainly my own fault for stepping on them through being too disorganised and not putting them away properly after use! I would be happy to buy these as a gift for people with young children – a lot of toys are all singing, all dancing, electronic and noisy. In contrast, I love the simplicity and timelessness of this. Children can build towers to their hearts content and explore putting things into others, as well as enjoying the patterns and pictures.
The child loves to play with these. I was surprised that there were literally cardboard boxes though. However, they’re light, colorful and easy to play with. They’re thoroughly enjoyed buy the baby which is the whole point.
Lovely idea, taller than ordinary stacking blocks, you can play more games with them. As mentioned in other reviews not entirely sure on the quality lasting but they seem fine at the moment. It is nice to have toys that aren’t plastic.
I am so pleased with this item. My eldest son had them years ago and played with them so much, they broke after time.
I have now bought a set for my youngest son and they both love stacking them whilst the eldest sings the alphabet song.
I did catch the youngest son trying to stand on one of the boxes – they won’t last long if they’re stood on!!
Love these, not flimsy but at the same time could be a lil more sturdy if possible. I love Melissa and Doug and these stacking blocks are as tall as my 2yr old. She loves stacking and knocking them over. Cute alphabet detail too.
I bought those because I knew they are made of cardboard and because my baby loves playing with cardboard boxes. I do not expect them to be extremely durable due to the nature of the material but the print quality of those boxes is great. They are as good as luxury cardboard storage boxes. There are many ways to play with them and many ways to stack them and If your child loves paper and cardboard products they are a good present.
These are fairly good quality hollow cardboard boxes which stack on top of each other. They are taller than my son which he loves and he really enjoys knocking them down. Nice and safe too as they are not too hard if they fall on him.
It would have been good if they didn’t just rest on top of each other but it’s only a minor point, i would recommend them. I do find some of the Melissa&Doug range fairly expensive…..
hese are really nice cubes, my 1 year old loves building them up and knocking them down. my 2 year old loves the colours and the different pictures. I suspect they might not last my two boys very long as they are very thin. could do with being sturdier.
My 15 month old daughter loves these blocks, constantly plays with them. However they are made from thick cardboard and they dont mix well with a teething toddler who wants to chew them?! However she loves the alphabet designs on them and trys to build the tower, even though they stack a fair bit higher than her. Im pleased with the purchase – originally bought for her 1st birthday in July but she has not shown any interest in them until now. I would recommend, and would buy as a gift.
