Great product, holds its charge well and means you don’t have to keep buying batteries
This product does have a very long battery life after fully charged however it does have a pretty bad charging cable. Cable length good and charge indicator helpful however I would invest in a more premium micro USB cable as this isn’t made of very durable material.
I brought this after buying two lots of the Venom controller battery packs and them failing. The official ones are so much better. Last ages even with a headset plugged in and charge really quickly. If you are considering the venom ones save your money and get one of these.
I’ve experimented with many different rechargeable battery’s and ultimately I found this was the best one out there. I think it is fairly priced for the overall quality of the product where as yes you could get something similar to this for much cheaper it won’t be the same level as this. By far it is the best I’ve brought and it was a hard decision to choose this over something that was much cheaper but overall I’m glad I’ve brought this one.
This was the cheapest seller at the time of the purchase and the estimated delivery time was 1 week. The product was delivered by the Royal Mail in 3 days and the team was quick to respond to my message with delivery enquiries. Overall, the product was genuine and saved me close to 10. Would buy again.
Only had to charge them twice in three weeks of use. Playing with the wire is just fine, as it’s nice and long. They are lighter than regular batteries or replacement batteries too, which is a massive pro for me as it makes them better to hold for me. Glad I invested in these.
Really good. Charge lasts for ages, worth spending a bit more on the official product. I’ve bought cheaper brands and the quality is nowhere near as good.
If you get a plug and play Make sure to always get this one and no other one which isn Microsoft this is the best and longest battery life packs!
Bought for partner. Don’t think he has any problems with i
Very happy with these but an oying that it always comes with a charging cable. These last much longer than the battery (couple of years in my case before it stopped holding a charge) so I do not need another cable when purchasing this.
It’s acc good u just pop it in the back of the controller and that’s it and it comes with a bit of charge and comes with a cable with an led light that goes white when it’s fully charged and orange when it’s charging I hopes I helped
Excellent way of replacing having to keep on buying batteries for your Xbox controller.
Uses a LiPo battery pack that inserts into the Xbox controller battery compartment. The lead is plugged into the controller and any USB port.
I have used LiPo batteries for some years now and they out perform NiCads etc. not suffering from ‘memory’ like NiCads do. If you have any concerns, chances are that your mobile phone has a LiPo battery.
The charging light on the lead did not work on my one, but Amazon are sending me out a new one.
Don’t be tempted by lower priced third-party controller charging docks for Xbox One, none of them are even half as good as the official Play and Charge Kit. With the Play and Charge Kit the Xbox One controller can be used while charging which is very useful if you have forgotten to recharge the controller, and the battery lasted nearly a week for me before I needed to recharge it again. It also has a charging indicator light on the USB cable itself. Much better than having to frequently buy AA batteries for the controller, although rechargeable AA batteries are a good alternative and will have better battery life than this.
I was not shore if to get the 2014 or 2017 model as the 2017 showed no box but i took a risk and this is what came.
The 2017 model works perfect and charges fine comes with a quick how to guide and a charge cable that has a light on so you can see when the battery is charged.
Also the battery that sits inside the back of the controller and the battery case goes over.
Much better than worried about 2 AA battery’s to die and worrying about buying new ones this solves the problem for wireless gameplay.
Yep, as good as you’d hope but knocked a star off for stupid Microsoft prices. If this cost half what it does (definitely shouldn’t be more it’s basically 2 rechargeable batteries) they’d still make an unreasonable profit. Had a couple of knock offs that lasted ok – not as long or reliable – but with batteries that usually charge in my crotch (where the controller is, I don’t have a special attachment down there) I figure better safer than blowing off my bits.
The xbox one play and charge kit is essential if you plan on regularly using your xbox as you’ll never need to buy aa batteries again, plus yes you could buy standard aa rechargable’s but they are ni-mh from the 1990’s and are less reliable.
Compared to the old x360 play and charge kits, these are way better due to using lithium ion instead of arcaic ni-mh and give a really nice amount of play time before needing another charge, plus compared to my ps4 controller the battery life is far better and yes I know that the ps4 comes with a free battery built in, but when it stops recharging it’s non-replacable.
Product does what it says on the tin. No more need for hundreds of batteries. Doesn’t take long to fully charge again. And the cable to charge it is miles long so can be played still while charging from a fair distance. Cable is robust and high quality. And the customer service is exceptional. Would definitely recommend
Seems to last a good length of time – should have been included as standard with my elite controller! Eh, it works well, and lasts plenty of time with my low usage. You can’t go wrong with this.
A quick note to all buyers – I have also tried the rip off versions of these, and they are nowhere near as good. You can’t charge via the plug on the top of your controller, the plug on the pack stops working, capacity is awful, etc… This one is not at all like that, and well worth the extra money.
I cannot understand why Microsoft don’t have the batteries built-in to the controller in the first place well I actually can it’s to make more money but as for the plug and play the lead is very long so you can have your controller charging at the same time as playing a game which is really good and it has a nifty little light that is orangey yellow color when not fully charged and then glows bright white when fully charged.
Full charge will give you well over a week of game in without having to recharge which is much better than its competition.
very well-made quite oh thick wire so won’t break easily and the battery pack fits neatly in the back of the controller.
The best thing I like about this product is when I am in the middle of a game of FIFA or what ever I am not running around the house trying to find two AA batteries which can be such a pain when you are already 2-0 down. instead all I do is pick up the cable and plug it into my controller. which lowers my stress levels completely. I am very pleased with this product and if my current one broke I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another.
In addition this quality of this product is very good, I have had this for nearly 2 years and still works fine and everything is still in good condition. even the battery life has not decreased very much in that time. very happy.
Absolutely fantastic!
Before this product I spent an incredible amount of money on batteries but now with this I will not have to any more which saves lots of money.
The charge time is very short from no battery to full battery. This is ideal as you will not have to have it plugged in for long.
When the battery is low, you can still play with the USB wire connected to the XBOX.
The USB wire included is very long which was a pleasant surprise as usually they’re small.
I bought this to replace the rechargeable batteries I was using with my Xbox One controller.
Very easy to use just remove the battery cover, plug this in and replace the cover.
The micro usb charging cable that comes with is is high quality and has led lights to indicate it is charging. It is also a very good length and should be fine for most people.
It’s a good kit and worth having if you have an Xbox One or use the controller with a pc and the wireless adapter.
Best Play & Charge kit I’ve purchased. I’ve purchased quite a few batteries and docking stations over the years and to be honest I’ve found the official kit to be the best. I purchased this for use with my Elite Controller (Purchased from Argos for 119 and not from level99games for 189 as listed on Amazon). Although designed for the standard controller this play and charge kit fits the Elite controller perfectly as expected.I charge my controller up twice a week and it’s used for around 4 to 5 hours a day, but even so the battery is not flat, I just charge it up to prevent downtime..
The Xbox One Play and Charge Kit was delivered in decent packaging and packed very well, the product itself is very basic and very good compared to batteries, the battery charge lasts days if you use it for a few hours a day and is very easy to charge. While charging you can play on the console too so if you forget to charge then its fine to game on!
For the past few years I thought this kit or similar ones would be useless but are actually really good and blown my expectations, the charge really does last a long time and is easy to charge via the USB port at the side of the Xbox One. I would recommend this kit to anyone buying a Xbox One as it takes away the hassle of batteries and doesn’t go dead within game like batteries… 😀
Are you tired of replacing the batteries in your controller to play your Xbox One games? Then buy this. It works the same way as the Xbox 360 play and charge kit. You take the batteries out, insert the black battery in, and then you can play straight away. If it needs charging, then you plug the USB cable into the controller, connect it to your console, and it will charge. The name says it at all, play and charge. This is a great product, and it will save you a lot of money.
A little on the pricey side for 1 single battery pack and a cable you probably already have (Universal smart phone charger).
The battery holds charge for many hours of gaming and the cable is nice and long.
I personally have experienced issues with non-official battery packs for the Xbox One so it may be worth paying the extra for this one!
I was looking for rechargeable batteries for my Xbox controller, this fits the bill perfectly!
Not only can you use the controller when the batteries are charging, the cable provided shuts off the wireless chip in the control, making it a wired controller, it even works with the cable and no batteries! Great for when the battery pack gives up!
If you’re thinking of buying a cheaper alternative, you should seriously reconsider, it may be cheaper but are they the same quality as these? Think, it’s designed & made by the people who made the Xbox & controller itself…
Having used charge and play on XB360 and grown accustomed to its ease of use, durability and reliability, I approached getting the XBone C&P because of the broadly negative reviews with some level of caution postponing for several weeks and chewing through 4 pack of Duracell a week, but taking the plunge and haven’t regrettedit since, reminds me of my old Nokia 3330 in that charging’s pretty much once a week despite marathon sessions of GTA5 and COD AW.
Some people have experienced duff battery packs, like a couple of people I know, but their purchases were from other sites claiming authentic MS OEM but the packaging was off in comparison to my purchase, so be aware of knock-offs going around.
Having stuck with MS C&P I’m unable to draw comparisons with other 3rd party alternatives.
I’m sort of disappointed because this is an optional extra when you purchase your Xbox One console and it isn’t supplied as standard. You would think that if you’re forking out around 400-500 on a product, they would at least supply a rechargeable battery, no?
All-in-all, I am very pleased with this product. I have owned this piece of kit for well over five months and the battery pack continues to hold the charge. Saves me a lot of money, considering I no longer have to worry about the costs of purchasing standard batteries every week or so.
This is the charge kit to get for your Xbox One controllers. Yes, there are other chargers available, but they can only charge when the controller is not being used. This one allows playing whilst charging. There is a handy light on the USB cable that shows when it is fully charged. Whether the cable is plugged in or removed, the controller keeps working.
The main advantage of this device however is the higher 1600mAh rating, compared to batteries with other chargers. What this basically means is that it stores a greater amount of charge, therefore it needs charging less often. Whilst look at other non-offical chargers, some of them only had 600mAh ratings – so may only last just over 1/3 the amount of time before needing to be charged again.
Works really well, plugging it in you get a sudden buzz of excitement. When the light comes on telling you it’s charging, then, only then, you feel immortal, you know that the days of finding batteries or simply purchase them, are over. You know that you don’t even need to leave it to charge, to then play it hours later, you know that you can “plug and play”. I’m telling you now I have 15 children, and I have never been more impressed with any of them as I am with the concept of playing and charging, the success of successfully having 15 children doesn’t come close to the feeling of success while playing and charging. This product makes you feel superior, so yeah you should totally buy it now. 😉
I’m not going to write a large review as other people have already gotten into the positives.
The only thing that to me is disappointing is that (even though, obviously it was designed for an xbox one controller in the first place) it doesnt charge phones. Well, it charges them but barely has any power to up the battery life so to speak. Which is a shame because a long micro usb cable is always useful! Battery life is fantastic lasted me a week under normal usage.
But honestly, rechargable batteries would do just as well, considering those dont rattle either. (and the weight is about the same)
This is a must have piece of kit for the gamer who spends more than a few hours a week gaming. Let’s face it, the amount of batteries we can go through in a month is ridiculous. The cable is a great length, I was able to sit on my couch which is a few feet away from the TV and still have slack in the cable. This time around, the battery pack goes inside a cover on the back of the pad, not like on the 360 where it replaced the cover with a battery brick. Very flush, very light, worth every penny.
If you play xbox a lot you will save substantial amounts of money, Not only that but it charges fast and lasts for ages. Also you don’t have to replace the back of the controller like with xbox 360 you would have to replace the battery pack meaning you had to keep hold of some spare shell thing the whole time you owned the console otherwise you shouldn’t sell the controller or the console at various store for example (cex) this will never be a problem, and if the play and charge breaks you could easily go back to batteries without a stupid AA battery holder or shell. A good buy by anyone’s books.
This battery pack is perfect. I made the mistake of going for thrid party ones for the xbox 360. Yes third party ones are cheaper and work ok BUT their charge drops quicker, they take longer to charge and the battery life overall is poor – essentially false economy.
Very well built. As is the xbox 360
Its a no brainer to go for the plug and charge kit – although cheaper to buy with a controller if you need an extra pad which is what i did
You wont be disappointed. My favourite feature is the charging even when the xbox one is switched off
I’d say it’s a must have if you don’t want to keep looking for batteries. I know I never have any spare laying around. Really simple to install, open the battery door, slide this battery in, close the battery door and you’re off! If it runs out, plug the cable into the xbox and the other end to the controller and it’ll recharge. Simple! You can continue playing while the controller recharges. Currently there’s no way to see if your battery runs low, however in the instructions there’s an image of a battery warning so I’m assuming Microsoft will implement this in an update
EDIT: with the February update, you can now see the battery status on your TV
