I have a fairly large lawn – approx 500 m2. Used a pack with built-in spreader initially, but this doesn’t work for me. Ended up with a number of burned patches due to my shaking deficiency. Bought this spreader to save me killing off more of the lawn. Had to return the first one as it had missing pins (bad quality control by manufacturer). Received replacement from Amazon the following day (you wouldn’t get that from other retailers!). Took 9 minutes to assemble. Instructions don’t have the usual components list (would have saved me some time first time around) but are otherwise adequate. Once assembled, the device is very easy to use. I poured in a large bag of weed and feed and sped up and down the lawn at the prescribed 1m/sec. Distributed the contents very evenly and without issue. Pleased.
So it arrived in quite a large box in parts and I expected, from other reviews, that it would be a bit of a nightmare to build but no. A few nuts here, a few odd pins in the wheels that took a bit of force to bend into place and it was done. The twisting mechanism at the top decides how wide the bottom door opens and you are meant to twist it to whatever setting you require.
I twisted it to the setting which was adequate to the weed and feed I had bought and was dismayed to see after a walk up and down the garden that nothing came out or at least what did was rather sparsely sprinkled like a cheap cheese sandwich. So I was able to twist it again till I had it spreading at the “right amount” for how I felt. Well it went pretty quick! The garden was fed in no time and thankfully a short downpour in the middle of the night had the seed in.
Its folded up in the shed ready for its next excursion and I’m really glad I bought it. I balked a little at the price but I do see it lasting some time if its kept clean and maintained.
Perfect for quickly covering lawn. Was easy to build and to use. Feels sturdy and good quality. Ot does take up a lot of room when storing so might purchase a hook for the wall so can store/hang in shed.
It is a really good spreader, the only query is when using the evergreen weed and feed requiring 32 m2 setting there isn’t one on the spreader. But 28 isn’t bad at all
The only reason I have not given a 5 star rating is because I have not used it yet.
