For the money this is a great little drill. Long battery life, nice and compact and the extra drill bits are a good extra. Ive used this to build flat pack furniture, hang wall finishings, build a shed and even drill through wall tiles to hang a shower head.well worth the money.
I am struggling to find a replacement charger for this drill as the original has stopped working after 4 months of occasional use.
The drill itself is OK for the money but now junk until I can scource a replacement charger.
Not much to say really. It looks the part and does most of the work required for a cheap price- I got an offer and paid about 19 for it. I used it today and it was fine- its meant for my MIL house, as her one was 20 years old and the batteries had leaked.
First drill I’ve ever purchased so didn’t want to spend big for something that will be used around the house for odd jobs.
So far I’ve it’s been used to put up 3 sets of roller blinds and used for some flat pack that required extra drilling.
Can’t complain so fa
This drill was exactly what I needed fro the budget I had, great battery life and very comfortable to use, the box it very study and the bits that are included are very good quality
I’m first time using drill. It function and do the drill work. I use it to make a bed frame without recharging the battery. that is all I need. Its not fair if compare it with Borsch as this is only portion of that price. I accept that its a bit heavy. Its fine.
If you want a cheap drill that is well-built, look no further!
I bought this to replace an ageing Black & Decker NiCad drill that was frankly heavy and lacking power. This drill is more compact and in my opinion of better quality than the old one.
This drill is more than adequate for smaller jobs around the house and garden. I put it through its paces. Using a hole saw to cut a hole in a kitchen cabinet, in fact, I built a whole IKEA kitchen with this drill!
The drill did however develop a fault and was no longer charging, but the company was quick to resolve this issue by sending out a replacement (haven’t received it yet, I will update this review when it comes)
I had a Black and Decker NiCad drill/driver for about 20 years and it finally stopped holding the charge. For the price of buying a new battery I found the Mylek and it is as good as the reviews say.
I’m sure technology has come on a lot since my B&D was made, so perhaps all modern drivers are like this or better, but I am reasonably impressed. There will be better “professional” equipment that will last longer, and maybe not as heavy for all-day use, but you pay dearly for them, but this was about 30!
Here are my pros and cons.
Pro. Weight-wise, it is lighter than my old one. It weighs 1.16kg with battery and no bit.
Pro. It is also a bit less bulky, so fits in tight spaces more easily.
Pro. Battery life. I have only used it for a couple of jobs so far, unscrewing and screwing a few dozen heavy decking screws, with a bit of drilling. When it arrived it showed as fully-charged (traffic lights, red yellow green, all on) and currently it is still on green. Hopefully it will gradually change to yellow then red before dying, but time will show.
Con. I have found the trigger to be not always sensitive, like sometimes it can’t tell when you’re pressing it, so you push a bit harder then all is good. Not really a problem, but if you need precision control it might be an issue.
Con. The accessories that come with it are garbage! Think the cheapest cheap metal. One drill bit broke on first use. The magnetic bit holder is wonky so the bits move off-centre while you’re trying to use it. I already had a 20 year old one which was much better! I took a video of it but can’t seem to upload it. If you are buying this because it comes with these accessories, bear in mind you will probably throw them away! You’ll be much better spending 5 on a set from Screwfix.
Con. No hammer action, but it’s 30. I’ll use my corded drill for heavyweight stuff.
Con. Being a random brand, when it goes wrong, or if I need a spare battery, it’s unlikely that I will get one. If you plan on using it heavily you need to find a 2-battery set. That said, there isnt a separate charging dock – you charge the battery while it is on the driver – so I’m not sure if you could be charging a spare while it wasn’t in use.
Sounds like a lot of cons, but that all said, I’m very happy with it. Holds the charge, powerful enough for the jobs I’ve thrown at it so far. It’s a drill and a screwdriver and does the job well.
