Wear boots kicks like a mule but its a beast of a machine & i love it for someone who hates gardening lol! had it a yr odd now so well practised with it, had a smaller one for yrs, saw this & couldnt resist it, wow wotta machine it took me some time to get use to its power but its great just watch the lead, it’ll dig a hole for you when you’ve practiced, easier to clean cos its so much bigger & wheels to push along a path thats the magic bit.
Having used petrol rotovators and tillers, from Howard Gems to tiny Fly-mo machines, I know what a difference a good machine can make to the work of veg gardening or preparing ground for a lawn. My current petrol rotovator had carb problems and I was spending more time searching for parts than doing the gardening. I was reticent about buying this even though it has the 1500w motor, the most powerful one on offer for this type, but was amazed to find out how easy it was to use and how well it did the job of breaking old ground that had sat idle for decades. It threw out old bricks and stones and even defied the best efforts of old stock fencing wire that got caught in the tines. It managed to dig at least four inches deep on the first run and would have been even deeper if I had had the time to go over the ground again. It is light to manouevre and instantly controllable if you need to stop; unlike the petrol ones. It does buck a bit in use but just keep the tines out of the earth when starting, lower them gently into the ground and lean back . holding on to the handle, letting the machine do the work. To move forward just push the machine slightly and it will grab another swathe of ground to bite into. Makes a really fine tilth out of any soil, is very low maintenance and takes up very little storage space. The Netta one was also the absolute best price on the market too.
Bought this machine which cuts through heavy soil without a problem.
The customer assistance were fantastic as when we had a accident and cut through the cable which we tried to mend. The machine still wouldn’t work so I phoned the company who said they would repair it for us at no extra cost.
Within a week we had sent the machine to them and they said we could have either a new machine or our money back. We opted for a new machine as it is good.
You don’t find that form of service in many places these days.
Easy to put together simple to use chops up the soil nicely. Reasonable price.
Brilliant bit of kit. Rips compacted soil to shreds with ease.
I was dubious because it was cheap but it’s proving strong and reliable.
Would definitely recommend.
For me ,I found the manual supplied hard to follow, however, it is just a matter of common sense to put together. Also you need to be prepared when you start to till, that the machine pulls away VERY strong, so hang on and go slowly!
This is an excellent PowerBook to have if you like gardening, I have done my whole garden which is normaly hard to dig as it compacts easy but this tool chewed through the soil and roots in now time. 100% good bit of kit. Easy to put together and powerful.
This tiller is excellent value for money. You can expect to pay plenty more for a similarly spec’d machine anywhere else online (I know – I looked everywhere!). This tiller did the job for me, however, it does require firm handling to avoid it ‘running away’ from you. For best results, you pull the tiller toward you as you walk backwards. It’s quite a workout and you will need to be fairly strong to handle this machine – especially if the ground is firm. After a short time of use, I did find myself feeling quite achy the next day, particularly in the lower back area. However, considering the results I got from it, it was worth it!
Used to disturb soil instead of manually digging with a fork.
Used this to disturb the soil then scooped up and into the skip. Nearly 3 tonnes of soil removed. Must have
Very pleased: works very quickly and saves a lot of time/effort over manual digging. After initial usage, it churned happily through the earth.
Initially got tangled blades because I didn’t remove enough weeds beforehand, Also, the machine was a bucking bronco but that’s what happens when a powerful machine meets solid clods and long-buried objects.
Tip on usage: Need to be sure you are aware where the mains lead lies at all times – it is easy to not notice that the machine has crept up on the cable lying in the dirt.
I purchased this as I have a large garden to excavate and there are too many stones, bricks and clay in the soil to do it by shovel. This really cuts through it like its nothing. For the price of it, it really is worth every penny. I’m too tight to get a professional in to do it and this has been great.
low expectations of the product soon dispelled on first use what surprise did the job and more a cracking machine
I have a fair sized garden with good soil quality so quite easy to churn. Not sure how robust it would be in clay soil but did the job for me.
It works well BUT make sure that if using the filler in hard slip hold the machine tight and be prepared to be pulled forward – if you do this you will have no problem with the tille
It was big thanks to this machine, solved the problem to soften hard soil and small stones in my garden. I use it to make a deep areas to plan my taros and it worked very well, save my time.
After reading endless reviews of tillers of various sizes and prices I took a punt on this one. I wanted an electric machine that doesn’t break the bank. 99 quid felt worth a try. And what can I say. This tiller is awesome. It ate through dry and hard earth that hadn’t been dug for years. Including brambles and ivy. It only took only couple of hours to clear a 3x10m plot. And I have started on another bigger size plot.
The machine is quite angry and needs a strong grip to manoeuvre. Best when it bites the ground going forward.
I had to stop a few times and get the ivy and brambles off the blades. Bit of a faff, but ok.
And I stopped a few times to let the motor cool down. Other than that. A brilliant piece of machinery. And super easy to assemble.
I am preparing ground for a veg patch. The ground is clay soil and had weeds growing on it, some was lawn.. I used a pick axe to break the surface which was like concrete even though we had rain recently. The underside broke up reasonably well but was hard work by hand. I purchased the Netta Tiller with 1500w motor which arrived on Bank holiday Thursday rather than the following Saturday so which was great because they forecast rain all day Sunday. (And I get to play with it earlier ). When the box arrived it felt very light and was concerned that it was going to be cheap and flimsy. Far from it, after about 5 mins assembly it felt very ridged.
Today I got to play with it, by that I mean doing some serious gardening in case the wife reads this!
Wow, it is brilliant. Still hard work to start with as it powered through the lumpy ground. Slowly things got easier as the ground broke up into a fine tilth. I was surprised just how powerful it was and how easily it tackled the ground. Once the ground was broken up, care has to be taken if you pause in one place (i.e. To move the mains lead) as you could end up digging to Australia.
If I had to criticise it there are two points I found:
1, The screws that how the handle together are presumably intended to be slacked off to fold the handle. However, they have to be fully undone in order to fold the handle. If the screws had been 5 mm longer, the thumb nut could have stayed on the end of the thread. Not really a big problem, but would have been easier.
2, The safety button on the power lever has to be operated with your other hand. That means that when you turn it on, you have only one hand on the handle. Again, not a big problem but it would have been nice to be able to start it with both hands holding the beast when it starts.
Overall, a brilliant piece of kit. Appears to be well made, works well and a great aid.
When you let go if the trigger, the motor stops immediately so really safe.
Powerful.
Easy yo use.
Let it roll forward and pull back in 1-2 step intervals and it’s really effective.
I did a large garden ready for turfing and this made it so easy.
I went up the garden then across and it left a fine tilf.
I did get a random brick stuck which stopped it dead, make sure it’s unplugged before removing blockages,
Excellent buy, you won’t be disappointed.
Had a deep pile of mud and clay in the corner of the garden too tough for a spade . But this machine went through it like nobodies business made my workload a lot easier and cleared it in a couple of days (and saved my back!)
So glad I bought it.
Only niggling thing is the switch it was positioned on the left – would have preferred it if it could have gone on the right.
I used it for a vegatable patch all good did the job in 10 minutes.
I started to dig my front lawn up last year but wasn’t getting very far so finally decided to give this a go despite some of the mixed reviews. I certainly wasn’t disappointed!
It arrived the next day, was easy to assemble, ready to go within an hour!
I managed to get rid of my lawn in a couple of hours! It was easy to use, just remember to hold on tight! It easily tackled my rough, weed ridden, uneven lawn so hopefully this summer I will have a beautiful wild meadow where my lawn used to be!
Fancied a few new potatoes in garden this year. So I dug up the bed got rid of grass but had big clods in bed so looked and found this filler it’s super power full and soon churned up soil to make fine soil perfect for putting in my potatoes. Ordered it and arrived next day I am used to having a rotavator for veg patch . But when pack up few years ago sold it all . And missed new potatoes this little tiller does me fine and it’s very powerful and does job perfectly
used for first time today due to weather too wet using dig surface layer of my garden so I can level it off in preperation for new shed and law
