After playing on pc and xbox I figured I’d try for portable and it doesn’t disappoint.
The only drawback is a drop on draw distance for some content but not noticeable unless your looking and comparing

No Man’s Sky has come a long way since its initial release in 2016. It rode in on the crest of a giant wave of hype, before hurling itself against the rocks. Fans were initially left salivating at the promise of procedurally generated planets, whose varied atmospheres were dependent on the distance from their star. Where alien lifeforms would be spawned subsequent to the planet they inhabited, acquiring unique characteristics and traits accordingly. Yet, after years of promises and hype-building, the final product was an empty bug-ridden mess. Fans were left fuming at the distinct lack of ground breaking features that had initially been promised. It got pretty nasty for Sean Murray and the team at Hello Games, and they could’ve easily walked away. But they didn’t.

Over the course of the next six years, Hello Games worked tirelessly to improve every single aspect of No Man’s Sky. The once dodgy procedural generation has been transformed to ensure that the level of variety in planetscapes, atmospheric conditions, local lifeforms, and fauna makes for a truly compelling exploration experience. You genuinely can’t predict the hazards that you will encounter when you touch down on a new planet for the first time and flip open the cockpit of your ship. The “infinite universe” that was promised in the beginning has finally been realised, and boy it was worth the wait!

It’s a great port too. I had my doubts about whether it could be done, especially given the bugs that were ever present in the beginning, but I’m pleased to say that I was wrong. Hello Games have managed to make all the necessary cutbacks that allow the game to run at a solid frame rate, whilst retaining the bold, colourful visuals that at times make this a breathtakingly gorgeous experience. An essential buy for anyone who loves to get totally lost in a game. It’s space, but not as you know it!

This is a brilliant game, especially as its not a shoot/slash or kill-em game. I play this a lot and got this for the grandkids as they love it too. So got this as they have the Switch.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m not a gamer, I like my switch and I play things like Animal Crossing and puzzle games. NMS is a great game, lots to do and the worlds are stunning. Some cute, funny and downright monstrous details in there, how they fit this much into a Switch game I don’t know, because there’s so much going on it can get a little glitchy, but nothing that saving and resetting doesn’t fix and it isn’t spoiling my fun.

I was a little reluctant to purchase for the switch as I’d previously owned a copy for the PlayStation from launch and gave up after 6 months a great concept but unfinished game fast forward a few years and I decided to try again after reading how much development has been made. I was reluctant worried at how a game such as this could run on the switch given the hardware limitations but I was blown away. No man’s sky is a very different game to when originally released and it runs like a dream on the switch yes it’s not as pretty as running in the PS, Xbox or PC but you will not be disappointed.

This is a great game is you love exploring open world games. You’ve got an entire universe to explore! There are plenty of missions to play through and so much besides to get into.

NMS on Switch is exactly as you would expect, of course corners had to be cut and the Framerate is choppy at times but a few updates should be able to smooth this out.

The amount of content in this game is unbelievable and it works great on the switch, not perfect (few crashes, few times the scenery doesn’t load but very rare and it’d getting patched all the time).

    Definitely worth buying.

Got an amazing deal on this game, and had wanted for ages. The graphics are likely pushing the limit of what the Switch can do, but Hello Games have done a great job.

Only played a few hours so far (spent more time watching videos online waiting for it to be released), but know I am going to be playing this game a lot.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAn impressive port to switch. Switch isn’t exactly a powerhouse, so to be able to play something like this on it is a nice change of pace. The game is a good few years old now so nothing new to say about it in that aspect. Be prepared for some pop ins as the game struggles to load in, but these are rare

Heard so much about this game via the internet & friends do deciddd to see what it was all about. Was not disappointed at all! Good gameplay & with enough variety to enjoy the game for a long while, The way the game generates almost random planets & scenarios gives this game a different experience if played on another “save slot” money well spent!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI know this is not very one’s “cup of tea” but once you get the hang of it it’s a great escape fixing up space shops and mining and hi tn g as well as reading and travelling planets! It’s great escapism when you want to get out of all the bad news.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis is an almost unbelievable achievement by the Hello Games team, to get the full game with all the updates working so well on the Nintendo Switch is just amazing really. I also appreciate the fact that I could still buy it in a physical edition on cartridge because that’s something I personally still prefer to do.

Yes of course it looks a bit rough in places on a big TV but it’s by no means bad at all and it looks great in handheld mode, it holds 30 FPS very well and retains all the charm and character of the more powerful versions with absolutely lovely use of colour, to be honest the only real fault is increased graphical pop in which is a bit distracting and some people may be annoyed that multiplayer is not available yet.

Make no mistake though, this is No Man’s Sky ported to the much less powerful Nintendo Switch in glorious fashion, it looks great and will get better I have no doubt, it sounds great and most importantly it is totally playable and as engrossing as ever if not more so now because you can play it on your delayed train to work!

The magic of the Nintendo Switch continues, well done to Hello Games for bringing this to Switch players and hopefully they’ll keep the updates coming.

    Top marks, comfortably 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhat a game for the Switch. This is addictive play. You can basically do what you want and what you like. You can survey minerals, creatures, plants, gather resources with your mining laser. Set up a colony, travel to any star system and planet. This game is endless with the sheer amount of exploring you can do. You can do your missions if you want to or just spend ages exploring one planet. Overall a 5 star game and one of the greatest new games now available on the Switch.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you’re looking at this game, then you probably know that it first came out in 2016 to terrible acclaim and 6 six years later it is how it should have been in 2016. Minecraft meets space invaders. This game looks terrible docked on the switch, absolutely shocking, blurry edges, poor mapping all show on a TV. However play it on the go and it’s great, environments look nice, bright colours and fun to play. Little bit confusing at time with regard what the heck you should be doing, but a steep learning curve soon reveals the peak of a game that is great to escape in. This version has definitely been built for switch mode aka not on the TV.

I have played this on PS4 and now the Nintendo Switch. The fact that this is on the Switch is nothing short of outstanding. Graphics although not as good as PS4 are superb. Complex and deep this game really is what you make of it. Highly recommended.

Really enjoying the game so far, few graphic issues and objects taking too long to load in at times but it’s a Nintendo switch port so your expecting the inferior version.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI love NMS and have 300+ hours with my character on the PS version of the game and wanting more time to play, decided to get it for the Switch too. Over all they compare very favourably, although I’m not sure how Hello Games managed to squeeze it into the Switch, Two features are missing from the other versions, multilayer & Settlements, but I haven’t really missed either.

Obviously the graphics aren’t as sharp as on the PS5 and the loading time when starting the game, or warping/teleporting to other star systems is longer. Playing on the Switch Lite, they are perfectly acceptable, but I imagine they’d become a lot more obvious on a large screen. Although I haven’t experienced it, I’ve read that building a really large base will make a noticeable difference to the frame rate. All that being said, the game keeps the feel and (almost) all of the gameplay I love.

It’s a game that gives you the choice of what you want to do when, but I recommend new players follow the main quests until they feel comfortable with the game. They introduce the various concepts of the game as well as providing a story line and the ability to craft many useful items. You also have the option to acquire blueprints elsewhere, so you never feel tied to the quests simply to unlock new technology.

I’ve been waiting years for the right time to play NMS, and that for me has come on Switch. The game is everything I hoped for it to be, and it runs fantastic considering the hardware.
The only two things it’s missing for me are multiplayer and cross saves.

Props to Sean and the whole Hello Games team, they have had a phenomenal redemption arc.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersYes, I’ve only played this game for a few hours. Perhaps it’s a little too early to review. But given all I’ve done in the space of just those four hours, I know this was worth the price already. As others have noted, the fact that a game of this magnitude and power is even able to run (and really well, at that) on the Switch is a marvel in itself.
I didn’t play NMS when it came out. In fact, I only picked it up when I heard it was coming out for the Switch – and with six years of updates (and more rolling out near constantly), it’s clear that this is the time to get it. You can explore distant worlds, extreme biomes and climates, see strange creatures, found bases, build shelter, trade with alien life forms, learn otherworldly dialects, discover advanced technology and teleport between worlds. And a lot more, I’m sure. It’s a lot of fun, and so utterly free. You can do what you want – go where you wish. It’s one of those video games that’s so impossibly open, and allows you to get out of it what you put in. The experience is what you make it. You can be the space explorer you always wanted to be! And every run through of the game feels like something tailor made to you and your character.
It’s a visually stunning game – and I must say, I’ve had no problems with lag or glitches, nor any sorts of technical bugs. It runs really smoothly. I already love this game, and I’ll be playing it on my Switch for months to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Masterpiece

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersA universe to explore in the palm of your hands, with a really welcoming community of fellow explorers out there to guide – what’s not to love.
Looks and plays great on switch. Has to be seen and played to be believed.
IMO this game is worth every penny.
