These work really well and I like the fact that they can cut right down to 1mm. My old clippers could only go as low as 3mm. I’m not so keen on the electronic length adjustment, it’s a pointless gimmick. I never looked at the old ones and thought “what these need is a motorised comb”.
Well made clipper from Philips. Ergonomic shape and easy to use but I think the 5000 series cuts just as well and I personally prefer the manual adjustment compared to the digital cutting adjustment on this model.
Love this! so convenient to use as its wireless. out of the few times ive used it, the battery had to be charged before use so could be better. But once its charged, the blades are sharp, cuts smoothly and quickly. Have been using this for every haircut and results have always been amazing. Very easy to use and adjust. I love this model as it uses a scroll wheel rather than the upgrade which is touchscreen. I think this is way more practical. Have bought this as a gift as well as the price was good. Highly recommended.
I have been cutting my husband’s hair for years and decided it was time to make my life easier by buying these clippers.
The are great for cutting and have 3 different guides for longer cuts but I haven’t really worked out how to use the sliding cut length guide on the clipper. It’s probably just me but we muddle through and his hair looks nice and tidy.
The battery has lasted several cuts so I have no idea how long it lasts, we haven’t had to charge it yet.
These replaced a previous pair which were discontinued. I didn’t want lots of parts or unnecessary features and these were the best value for money. They work well and having a roll setting means you don’t accidentally press too hard and shave off too much in one area. They are used for head hair trimming and do the job admirably.
As someone who prefers a well-groomed appearance, finding the perfect hair clipper is essential. After trying the Philips Hair Clipper Series 5000 with Trim-n-Flow PRO Technology (Model HC5632/13), I can confidently say that this device sets new standards in precision and comfort, delivering an outstanding grooming experience.
First and foremost, the Trim-n-Flow PRO Technology truly lives up to its name. The innovative design ensures a continuous and even flow of hair into the clippers, preventing clogging and enabling a smoother cutting performance. No more frustrating interruptions during grooming sessions! The result is a consistent and clean trim, whether I’m cutting my hair or grooming my beard.
The build quality of the HC5632/13 is top-notch. The clipper feels sturdy and well-made, assuring me of its durability for long-term use. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in my hand, allowing for precise control and maneuverability, even in hard-to-reach areas.
One of the standout features of this hair clipper is the wide range of cutting lengths it offers. With 28 lock-in length settings, I have complete freedom to choose my desired hair length, from a close 0.5mm trim to a more substantial 28mm cut. This versatility makes it suitable for various hairstyles and grooming preferences, accommodating my ever-changing style effortlessly.
I must commend the blades’ sharpness, as they effortlessly glide through my hair without pulling or tugging. This significantly reduces discomfort during the grooming process, making it a breeze to achieve the desired look quickly and painlessly.
The battery life of the HC5632/13 is impressive. A single charge lasts for multiple grooming sessions, making it perfect for travel or use on-the-go without worrying about frequent recharging.
Cleaning the clipper is hassle-free thanks to the detachable and washable head. After each use, I can easily remove the cutting element and rinse it under running water, ensuring proper hygiene and maintaining the clipper’s performance.
Furthermore, the hair clipper operates quietly, which is a significant plus, especially during early morning grooming sessions or in shared living spaces.
In conclusion, the Philips Hair Clipper Series 5000 with Trim-n-Flow PRO Technology (Model HC5632/13) is an outstanding grooming tool that has exceeded my expectations. Its precise cutting, comfortable handling, and low maintenance make it a top choice for anyone seeking a reliable hair clipper. Whether it’s for professional use or personal grooming, this clipper sets a new standard in performance and comfort. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a versatile and efficient grooming solution!
My previous Philips trimmers lasted years saving a fortune in barber’s fees. These are very similar. Good design lasts!
Work equally well plugged in or on battery,
hair and beard.
Rinse under tap to clean.
Had a Phillips cutter with a ‘swivel’ head that was great when doing my usual 7 mm cut, but battery gave up the ghost after a few years and it became unusable as the power feeds the battery that then runs the motor. Unfortunately this had been discontinued and not replaced which is a real shame for me as a DIYer and there is nothing similar.
I really didn’t need all the cutting lengths with this 9000 pro but I like that it locks in. The lack of a swivel head means that to cut my own hair needs practice to hold the cutter at the correct angle particularly the back of my head. I’m guessing this is no different to any others but it took a few goes to get the knack to avoid having an un-intended mohican on the back of my head! I’m now happy with it.
The inability to change out the battery ultimately means this becomes disposable, as the battery needs to be serviceable even when plugged in. Battery power, in my opinion, is essential in the UK due to the regs banning sockets in bathrooms. In this age of recycling it is not clever/green, but no different from others and cynically keeps the manufacturers in business.
Oh, as some of the other reviews mention, with this being one of the more expensive in the range, the lack of a case/bag to pack it away is particularly ‘tight’ of Phillips given some of the other less expensive versions have something.
So in summary, it’s a compromise for me which I have got comfortable with after some trial and error. I’m sure the battery will eventually go and I’ll have to chuck it away. Hope that’s not too soon. Consider whether you need the bells and whistles and could do with something to put it in and save a few on the way.
I’ve been using a 5000 series for a couple of years, over all the 5000 is a great trimmer but I found myself accidentally changing lengths as I change grip during cuts which wasn’t ideal.
Anyway, decided to re-do my bathroom, out with the old in with new… and I splashed out on the 9000 series.
Mechanically, seems much the same as the 5000 which was slightly disappointing at first, not sure what I was expecting at the 5000 cut perfectly well – but once charged, soon I came to really enjoy the digital interface on the 9000, just knowing the battery level was nice compared to times past where the the light just starts flashing red mid-cut.
The Memory setting is pretty crucial, I found myself able to tap the memory setting and do the sides / top & even went over my beard just fine.
Note: To set memory (when turned off) select the desired length, hold the M until the 1 flashes on the right hand side, then release & hold M again for about 5 seconds and the screen with say “SET” when stored… just tap the M to switch to 1>2>3, and hold the button again to store it.
And discovering the cutter Locks the length when you power it on was great, no longer will I accidentally shift up/down lengths by mistake.
“Auto-Turbo” concerned me slightly, as generally I’ve found with all my philips cutters I turn it on and hit the turbo button – that’s just how it is! but the automatic really doesn’t need much/any noticeable resistance before the Turbo function kicks in and it leaves it running for a few seconds, much to my surprise it was pretty seamless.
Overall – The cut is great, ergonomically it worked just fine never felt uncomfortable, love that it locks the length, memory settings are great for bouncing between lengths & no longer will I think to myself do I usually do this a 8 or a 10.. it’s simply what I stored.
So, I’m glad I went 9000 series and short of a huge price jump – it’s just what I’ll buy in future.
After my 12 year old Remington trimmer gave up the ghost, i decided to look for a more upto date version. I soon stumbled across this Philips model Series 900.I have used it now for about 6 weeks. It’s very lightweight with an ergonomic feel to the handling. Very precise increments when altering the depth of the cutting guide. You are supplied with 3 of these, so trimming of hair and beards is limitless to the desired length. The battery life of this model is surprisingly long lasting and quickly recharges itself.
After over a decade using my old model, technology in this field has moved on considerably.
Best shaver I have for the price. I use this for anthing from head, back, beard and chest (fully cleaned before each area!). Even more ideal that it’s waterproof so you can just stick it under the tap and wash away the hair. Would buy agai
Husband thought the instructions were difficult to understand as in pictures I like picture instructions so explained it all to him and he was able to use them easily however he went on about the instructions for hours!!! Thank you Phillips!
Great clippers – way more efficient than our old ones and the cordless design is great. However, the sizes range from 3-28 which we figured might include half sizes but in fact they are in mm. Used a 3 instead of the usual 2 to be safe and it was very short – less than a 1 in the usual system. We know for next time though!
Give a first class finish and very easy to operate. Better than the more expensive version of these that I previously had and feel more robust.
I haven’t been to a barbers/hair dresser in years since using Philips hair clippers….must have saved a small fortune!
Remember though….these are clippers not a head shaver. If you want a smooth finish get a shaver…as clippers go I don’t think you can beat Philips. Nice quality.
Well pleased.
I recently purchased the Philips hair trimmer and I have to say, I am extremely impressed with its performance. The trimmer is well-designed and easy to use, with a comfortable grip that makes it simple to maneuver around my head. The adjustable comb allows me to achieve the perfect length for my hair, and the precision blades ensure a clean and even cut every time.
I appreciate the versatility of this trimmer, as it can be used for trimming both facial hair and head hair. The included attachments make it easy to switch between different lengths and styles, and I love that I can use it for everything from shaping my beard to trimming my hair.
Another great feature is the cordless design of the trimmer, which allows for complete freedom of movement. The battery life is impressive, lasting for a long time on a single charge, so I don’t have to worry about running out of power during a trimming session.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Philips hair trimmer to anyone in need of a versatile and efficient grooming tool. The quality and performance of this trimmer are top-notch, and it has quickly become an essential part of my grooming routine. Whether you’re looking to shape your beard, trim your hair, or both, this trimmer is sure to get the job done.
Bought it to replace an old model I had. I use it to cut my own hair and usually I play with length from 0-3 in my sides. This Philips lowest size is 3 only so can’t cut my hair shorter than that so it’s pretty annoying for grading and fading. For the rest works perfectly
I’ve only used these once, but so far so good. They cut my hair quickly and without pulling at all. The battery apparently lasts for 90 minutes, so I shouldn’t need to charge it again for months! The hair clears away from the cutting head really easily without any clogging. So easily, in fact, it falls straight onto the floor – I guess you can’t have it both ways!
It does not like my hair, try cutting at 25mm and it just misses most of it, better when I take it down to 12mm and 9mm and 5mm for the back and sides, but will not touch the top at 25mm.
So I still use a comb and then this to cut the excess length and then it is fine, so not a real update on what I had before, although it is easy to clean and a good range of 0.. to 30 something mm. So ok’ish but just 4 star for cutting shorter hair.
I had a Philips trimmer previously, rechargeable, it seriously kept working for about 15 years at which point the battery was only holding enough charge for six minutes very laboured usage. I purchased this after trying a babyliss and finding it missed hairs and was extremely slow. I use these clippers for my head and my face. I would equate these clippers to a car. My previous Philips clippers were the smaller version, the nippy, manoeuvrable mini. These clippers are bulkier, not so manoeuvrable, still quite fast and reliable, more of a 4×4. I find them slightly harder to manoeuvre about my head and face but they do a great job. The battery life is superb, I lost count of the number of shaves and the battery was still going strong when I recharged. It’s a good product and the corded use is great if you forget to charge.
This is our second pair of clippers from Phillips (the first one lasted over 6 years and was consistently used every month, so very good quality), and I’ve used it on my husband and boys’ hair a few times and it’s excellent! The battery life is very good, a full recharge allowed me to do both boys and their dad and I could probably have done a few more haircuts but I ran out of people’s hair to clip. It gives a very even cut and isn’t too loud either, the only slight negative is the bit where you change the settings for the blade – it would be good if it locked into place when in use but it doesn’t so you have to super careful that you don’t accidentally change the setting when in use or you might end up with disastrous results! But apart from that, I’m really pleased with these clippers and recommend them 100%!
I had never used hair clippers before, let alone cut my own hair.
I went for this one because it had a wide range of cut lengths and had a reasonable price amongst the medium ones.
I found it easy to use, works smoothly and provide an even haircut. battery lasts for about 3 cuts.
A couple of pieces of advice (if you have not used one before)
– There are many youtube videos to learn the basics
– Start with a long length clip, and you can always trim it again with a shorter one if you want. There is no “undo” here … when you say “Good God” is already too late…
– Spend 10 quids in an apron…
And if you are cutting your own hair … a hand mirror is really convenient !!!
During lock-down 2.0, my hair had got to lengths not seem since the ’70’s and, after much back and forth, I decided to invest in these Philips hair clippers.
My first cut (thanks to my wife!) removed about 4 inches of hair in one go without any snagging – I have fine hair and was worried the cutters would snag on the long hair but, no, they cut easily and well. I have now had a second cut with shorter hair and still no snagging.
I go for and all-over cut at a single length and do not do skin fades or want to look like a ’30’s gangster so the final result is suits me well. There are tutorials on line for various effects and I am sure these clippers would be most suitable.
The range of lengths is very good, allowing a 1mm step between lengths. Elsewhere, the guards have been criticised for being flimsy but, from my perspective, they are as strong as they need to be.
I would recommend these clippers as they do what I want and are simple to use.
Bought for lockdown haircuts. I’d never used one before so looked up the Philips website and found a great little how to use video which gave me confidence. The handle shape is different to any others I’ve seen on the web but is actually very sensible and makes the product much easier to use. The ‘Turbo’ function is very useful for longer, thicker hair. It does really charge in an hour and although I didn’t use it for 90 minutes, which is the stated life of a single charge, it was still as powerful at the end of my haircut as at the beginning. The only bad experience was the delivery; the Amazon report says ‘handed to customer’ which is untrue. I did not hear my doorbell ring and it was only when it was getting late that I went outside and found the package resting against my driveway gate where it must have been for a couple of hours. My driveway entrance is on a public lane where walkers pass all the time and anyone could have picked up the package. Black mark to Amazon here.
I bought the clippers during lockdown as the barber shop was closed. These are the first clippers I have ever used and they are very good. There are a variety of settings for hair length. I find I get a very easy clean smooth close hair cut on the low setting. The quality of the cut is good and there are no cuts or bumps on the skin afterwards. The battery life is good. Once fully charged up you can have multiple cuts. I don’t think the cutters can shape the hair line at the front and signs; but in terms of a basic tidy hair cut, they are very good indeed for the money. I am not going to be rushing back to the barber shop anytime soon.
I like to give independent honest reviews. I picked this Philips 5000 series pro technology while on offer. What I can initially is that it is a decent hair clipper especially with the turbo mode. The two clips provide a wide variety of lengths to chose from and a third one is used for the beard. There was a much reduced tugging of hair compared to my previous models. The claim trim and flow meaning the hairs flow away from the clipper is somewhat to be questioned as I did have to take the clipper of to clear all the small hairs from the blade. Battery life was good I only tried to use it for no longer than 45 minutes with the turbo mode on. If reduced I would recommend it for the price
There are so many clippers on the market that choosing one is difficult. I picked this Philips machine for a number of reasons: it was comparatively cheap (I paid 35), it was cordless, it could be charged in an hour, it looked comfortable to hold, its blades didn’t need oiling and it was supposedly designed in such a way that it wouldn’t jam. I attempted my first ever DIY haircut this morning, expecting that it would be a bit of an ordeal: I had six months of thatch to get rid of, and I’m probably the clumsiest person on the planet. In the event, the process was entirely painless and glitch-free. Leaning over a sheet of newspaper on my kitchen table, it took me about an hour to achieve a 10mm cut that was reasonably uniform; someone less cackhanded could probably have done the job in a quarter of the time. I was left wishing that I’d thought of trying to cut my own hair when I was younger – by now, I could probably have saved myself enough money to pay for a world cruise!
