I love this VR headset. It’s such a step up from the original headset and anyone that loved the first one needs this!
In the box you get the 2 controllers, the headset, earphones that clip into the rim of the headset and the charger cable for the controllers.
Features:
So if you are looking into buying the headset you must know the specs of it, just in case you don’t the headset has different features.
The controllers have rumble, adaptive triggers just like the DualShock controller. Finely it has analog sticks!!!! That is one thing I hated on the old headset the controls were horribly outdated. Plus it has “touch features” so when you put a finger on any of the buttons included the analog stick the controls pick that up, so in horizon COTM when it detects you touching a button different fingers move, in Drums Rock you hold the drum sticks. One downside I have seen is that the battery on the controls don’t last very long. A few hours maybe 4ish I’ve not let them die yet.
The headset itself is impressive, no more horrible camera that keeps saying “out of play zone” or whatever it said. The headset has 4 built in cameras into the front of the headset. This detects the whole of your room, lighting and the controls. The headband itself has a rumble function so you feel things fling over your head. You can now move the lenses to fit your preference which helps reduce blur. One of the best things is eye tracking, I’ve not seen it featured much apart from during menus so instead of moving your whole head or using the controls you just look at it. However it does mean that the screen becomes more clear with the thing you are look at and blurs slightly the things you can’t see. The screen is so much more vibrant and more clear compared to the first vr, not saying it’s picture perfect it still has a slight blur to it and if you don’t position it right you get a rainbow effect with the colours bleeding but iv not had much issue with it. Another major upgrade, I had the original vr1 so had a million cables, this headset has one and is long enough for someone to sit far away from a tv. Lastly one that I love is real time view, so while you have the headset on you click a button under the screen and it shows you in black and white the room you are sitting in, very handy for when you are looking for something or need to move/ see someone in the room.
Set up:
Extremely easy set up, I recommend charging the controllers first as one of mine was out and it wouldn’t let me set it up. You plug it it, turn it on, pair the controllers then set a “play area” which is the headset scanning your room and determines how big of a play area you have. You can manually do this after it scans which is what I did. The headset recommends 2m x 2m my room is no where near that and have had no problems yet. It then gives you a tutorial on shortcuts and all.
One downside is the nose hurts when I look up, maybe I have the screen slightly to close not sure. But it’s not bad enough to make me stop playing.
I bought the VR yesterday and I have had so much fun with it. VR isn’t for everyone, I do recommend it however, it’s a lot of fun and the game library is expanding so there are different things to play. I’m currently playing Drums rock which is like guitar hero with a drum.
Definitely a good bit of equipment for VR fans.
Just bought this bundle and it looks fantastic – the problem is the pictures show it with a PS5 when it does not contain one – so if you’re thinking you are getting a console WITH VR2, be aware that you are not!
I cannot rate its performance as there is no console (have to buy that separately) but I imagine it will work well
Watch videos online and you will see the amazing upgrade from the original psvr. It feels better to wear, the image quality is amazing and the set up is easy. The new headset has cameras on the front so you can view things when needed, the new controls are great. The bad side? Not too many game’s available, you do need to purchase a charging dock for the controllers or use the charging cable (single) to charge them.oh and my biggest annoyance, the old psvr games for the ps4 are not supported and it doesn’t play 3D movies.why the hell does it not support 3D movies?!?!
I really enjoyed the first PSVR but this improves on it in every conceivable way. Higher resolution, better graphics, perfect controls and much simpler set up. After you’ve played Gran Turismo 7 on this, you’ll never want to play any other way. An amazing addition to the PS5 experience.
Didn’t purchase from amazon had preordered the horizon call of the mountain bundle back in December 2022 from Sony direct as was the only pre order option available.
Owning the original PSVR, also a quest 2 and a high end pc that is capable of running max settings on PCVR I can say this is currently the best option available in the VR market currently especiallywhen price to performance is considered you are talking a 2k PC and a upwards of 1k headset in the PCVR space. Performance and comfort are way up there, the OLED screens are outstanding.
If you are interested in high end VR and already own a ps5 and willing to invest this kind of money it is a no brainer!
Battery life on the controllers isn’t the best at 2-4 hours depending on use/game i would say a controller dock is an essential accessory such as the one pictured which is the collective minds showcase stand.
Over all extremely happy, Welcome to next Gen!
Took me a few days to get the sweetspot and comfort but after that it continues to amaze me. GT7, Resident Evil Village, kayak Mirage, walking Dead, walkabout golf are all so brilliant. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for PSVR2!
Had this since launch day in February. A truly next generation gaming experience. Yes it’s expensive but its got tech inside worth double the price (look at the price of PCVR headsets!!). Much better than the Meta Quest 2.
Still early days on the game selection but what is out is very good. Highlights include Horizon, Resident Evil Village, Grand Truismo 7, Star Wars Galaxies Edge, Pistol Wipe, Zombieland and quite a few more.
Warning: Like sea sickness, it can make you feel motion sick on some games until you get used to it. Not everyone is effected however. Blowing a fan in your face, taking some Ginger motion sickness pills helps a lot.
If you wear prescription glasses, consider getting prescription lens from HonsVR or VR Optician. *Much* better than wearing glasses.
