been using this controller for a while now due to the fact I didn’t want to buy new joycons just for them to start drifting like mad again and while it’s not wireless the wire is super long which was what I was worried about considering I needed it to be long. super happy with the controller anyways, if you don’t mind wires this works great 🙂
You can play as long as you want without joycons going off
This is a great controller for the price. I love the design, it is super light weight which I love, and I prefer using this to using the joy cons that came with the Switch. Great value for money!
Super cute controller, great for games like Mario, Animal Crossing, etc. However, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re playing shooter games like Fortnite – for that I’d recommend getting the Pro Controller!
Cheap and cheerful. Daughter loves it. Just note to people this is NOT WIRELESS! It’s MUST BE plugged into the base of the dock. Some people asked me why it wasn’t working wireless I had to tell them it was wired use only. For 20 I’m not complaining and nor is my daughte
Bought as a second controller for my son’s console. Fantastic value for money and really comfy to use.
Item came packaged well. Worked perfectly,… Until it didn’t. Controller wasn’t used for around a month and when came to using it the controller had so much drift that you couldn’t counter it. Wouldn’t recommend the company that makes these controllers has this is the 2nd controller by them that has broken after a time of not using them. Just to note that the controller was on a flat surface and didn’t have anything up against it.
If you don’t use the gyro on your switch and don’t care about Amiibo or vibration then you can save some money with this. The programable buttons on the underside of the controller are a nice feature, I personally use them for L3 and R3 since I’m not a huge fan of clicking in the sticks. Only thing it’s really missing is turbo which is more of a convenience feature than anything, would be nice to have but by no means a deal breaker.
Overall this product is exactly what I wanted and ordered. My only issue is that some of the buttons do not work.
works fine, I have been using it for a few weeks now and it has done just fine. the only issue i have found so far is that the joysticks and so high and too far in the center…..I have short fingers and struggle to reach the joysticks. If you have big hands it will be fine but if your hands are small you will struggle
I liked this controller a lot, but after less than a year, unfortunately it developed a fault, whereby it behaved as if you are holding the joystick down all the time, making it impossible to use.
Having said that, I contacted the company, and they sent me a new one as a free replacement within a few days, so fair play. A good wired controller for the price.
Had this for over a year now so I’m comfortable in saying this is a fantastic budget controller. I hate the analog sticks on the joycons so this was the first thing I sprung for and I’m glad I did.
It’s light but feels great in the hands, all the buttons feel good to press and the macros are fantastic, being my go to method for jumping & stamina in Breath of the Wild. It is missing rumble, NFC and tilt but it is a budget controller so I knew this coming into it.
My only two gripes are the D-Pad isn’t great for fighting games and the headphone jack, arguably a USP, is rubbish. It sounds like I’ve got a shell to my ear when I plug headphones in and crackles. Try to get headphones with a long cable or cable extender if you can to get around this.
Overall, very satisfied purely because of how it feels to use. Highly recommended if you’re not playing fighting games or want to use the jack.
Great it’s really cheap and has a headphone port in the controller but I does need a wire to pier it up meaning u can only use it in dock mode, it works great with games tike rocket league Fortnite and more and it’s super cheap defo recommend i
I purchased this as a back-up controller, I keep forgetting to charge my Joy Cons up, only realising when I get the lo-battery warning. I picked this up because of price and reasonable reviews, yes, it’s a wired controller but as I pretty much sit right next to the Switch, this was ok for me. it’s based on the Nintendo Pro-Controller, as I’ve never owned one of those, I can’t really give a comparison. This controller is lightweight, and everything seems to work as it should, it’s helped me out greatly.
A couple of times the Switch seems to forget it’s connected, and I have to quickly go through the connection settings, I’m not sure what causes this, it could be a conflict between the Joy Cons/Switch and this controller, either way it’s no biggie. For the price [I paid 17.99] and as I’ve said it’s saved me many times, highly recommended.
Love this controller! Thank you SO much. My joycons were quite broken after less than 12 months with barely any use and i was so heart broken. I ordered one of these same controllers off ebay and it was BROKEN too so i was devastated. I ordered this one from here and it was all in working order. All buttons work fine with no gliding on the sticks and both triggers working fine also the direction pad working perfect too.
It looks beautiful. None of the faces had bubbling or were poking up. It really is a lovely quality controller and i like holding it in my hands. It is on the bigger side for me but my partner finds it on the medium to smaller side as he has large hands. I have tiny hands so if you have hands like mine, it might be ok to a little bit big but you’ll be fine with it. I find the smaller powerA controllers more comfortable to hold but this doesn’t give cramp after an hour so it’s good.
However…. They all seem to end up with the same fate: joystick drift. I have tried taking these apart and cleaning them out (as per youtube tutorials) and it sometimes makes a difference but the design of the joystick cradle makes this ineffective. Ultimately I just buy a new controller for 20. And this is the deal: they’re so cheap it makes sense to go for the “disposable” version. You could replace these three times for the cost of an office Pro Controller, right?
Yes you could, but having just forked out on the Pro Controller, after this one has just started to drift like all the others, I can advise the following differences should you wish to invest your good money in the official article:
1. The overall feel of the Pro Controller is of better quality (or maybe it’s the weight of the battery).
2. It’s wireless (the cable supplied with this PowerA controller eventually gets tangled and frayed, especially if the kids don’t coil it up properly).
3. You can recalibrate the sticks if they ever start to drift (you can’t on the PowerA models).
4. You can remap the buttons (this is a really useful feature I recently found out but which can’t be applied to the PowerA controllers).
I would recommend these for light to moderate levels of gaming and the value make them ideal for heavy handed kids. But if you want something that will last and survive more heavy use I would go for the Pro Controller instead.
Great quality, lightweight, solid buttons and sticks.
Button are a little noisy and you have to press them quite deep to work but still feel high quality, likely to last a while.
Controller sometimes disconnects, very rare but annoying even if its maybe once a week.
The mini USB is likely to blame, its cheap small and flimsy.
The programmable buttons are… there i guess, turns out to not really be useful at all. A Turbo function would have been a better fit and likely cheaper.
A wonderful controller with a fun design that matched my carry case. it was a bit weird to get used to as i was used to playing on my ps4 which is heavier than this device but it is great when you get used to it and the bright coloured cable makes it easy to find when it is mixed in with all your other wires.
the only down side – which isnt really an issue – is that it must be plugged in at all times to use and that it does not have rummble or rotate features like the joy-sticks. these featuers were things i hadnt noticed i was using until they were gone but its not an issue (othr than one puzzle in zelder) and I would still recomend this to anyone looking for a larger controller for the switch.
My only warning is that I bought mine a couple of months ago and I can already feel that the rubber on top of the left thumb-stick has worn down. Not badly, but there is clearly a difference between it and my less-used right thumb-stick. You also need to keep in mind that the controller has no rumble or motion controls, so you may find that certain games aren’t fully playable.
Finally, this does work if you connect it to a PC, but it uses the old DirectInput and not Xinput, which basically means that most modern games will just ignore it. If you want a controller to use with your Switch and PC, then I would not recommend you buy this.
So, to sum up, this is great as a cheap controller for your Switch, but that’s it. You can get a lot better for an extra 10 and it’s up to you whether that would be worth it. I knew what to expect when I bought mine and I’ve been very happy with it.
Uhhh I’ve had this controller for 6-ish months. Regular use. Basically daily. Still works.
OK so basics. Always has to be plugged in. Duh. If removed it doesn’t play. Good for storage though. If you’re eating stuff DON’T GET IT ON IT. Nightmare to clean off. Especially chocolate. As a parent of small kids FOLLOW THIS.
No drift problems, buttons don’t stick unless you know, food or drink. Controls are a little slow sometimes but not noticeable. I’d imagine in an intense game it would be annoying though but what do you expect.
I should say my version is the animal crossing one. The one with faunas head amongst others. Very cute. I recommend it lol.
Responsive controller great location of on the fly remapping buttons headphone port is hand for tv mode as well really enjoying the controller i use it to play apex mainly
Works well but reason I purchased was because it was great value for money. I would highly recommended as it is twice the price from a local toystore. Hope this helps….
My son loves his pikachu controller….even moreso than the pro wireless Nintendo controller. Its really light but seems sturdy and has a nice 3 meter cable on it so they don’t have to sit right in front of the TV.
Works well, easy to set up, good way to save your joycons from beat em up games. Recommend for those on a budget who use the TV to play regularly.
If you just need a controller to play single player or couch multiplayer games this will do without breaking the bank, but if you want something for Smash or whatever you’ll probably want something with more weight, resistance and response time. Oh and finally being able to plug my headphones in to a controller is a dream come true honestly.
The onlyyyy issue I have with this product is the headphone jack. Not only do you have to force the headphones into the plug, the sound quality is not the best. You can hear fine but you sound very quiet to the people your talking to in game. I’ve only tried with Apple headphones so maybe a different headset will be better but I don’t want to spend money for it to be the same 🙁
Overall – good product for the price however if the audio issue is fixed it would be even bette
