Bought this so i can put my lights up at the windows this christmas.
I have bay windows but don’t have a plug socket within reach.
Tried and tested an dworks perfec
It works well, no issues at all. No separate switches, just basic, good for things permanently plugged in. I fitted a low amp-age fuse to the plug to ensure I can’t overload the lead which is too easy with so many outlets.
Great for the price but feels cheap, benefit of this one was the surge protection. If you are powering many devices that take alot of power with contestant use, Id recommend something a differe
I use this extension lead in my living room. It can handle multiple appliances running at once without any issues. I think it’s pretty good price as well. I would purchase again in the future if I need anymore.
Exactly as described. Bought two: 1 for my PC – one tower PC, two monitors, one printer, one hi-fi sound system and one socket spare (will probably use for phone charger). The other threaded nicely behind the radiator and bookcase to provide useable sockets on the opposite wall of the dining room (where no mains sockets exist) – already using as charging unit for laptops, phones and tablets for wife and children. Bonus! I get my desktop space exclusively for me once again!
I needed an extension long enough to go along the wall to the back of a sideboard I have. This was Lon enough, seems sturdy and with the holes on the back I was able to attach it to the top of the sideboard out of view but allowing easier access to the sockets. I’d be happy to repurchase if I needed to.
Great for my use – loads of plugs around the TV area – routers, hubs, Sky, etc., so better solution than cutting new sockets into the wall. Just hooked this extension block on a couple of screws and job done. The only downside was it tripped the electricity when I first plugged something in, but all OK now.
Working correctly with no apparent issues. The sockets are easily accessible and plugs insert and remove easily. The cable is quite thick and feels rugged and well-insulated.
There are several negative (or less positive) comments and one reviewer dismantled his but it appears to be constructed in a manner designed not to permit user access and the body of the block may not have the strength and solidity of some. However, at under 10, something has to give and hopefully it isn’t user safety. There are consequently a few reservations that may strengthen later, hence the slightly reduced star score.
There are 4 things I look for in an extension lead:
1) Surge Protection – this helps against a surge in electricity blowing a fuse, so you can confidently plug various devices into it without worrying about electrical surges damaging your property or plunging you into darkness.
2) How many plugs can it take – I always go for around a minimum of 5 or 6 gang extension lead. Sods law dictates if you go lower, as soon as you’ve powered up your devices, you’ll find another device that needs to be plugged in.
3) Length of lead – think about where you need to position your power outlet. This extension lead has a 5m cable, which is long enough to position anywhere in a standard size room. My rule of thumb is go bigger because you can always cut the lead to the desired size if necessary.
4) Price – I want a safe and quality extension lead, but I don’t want to spend a fortune. This lead was under 10. If I’m buying a lead for inside the house, 15 is my absolute limit. If it’s for the garden I’m happy to spend a little more for water/weatherproofing, but no more than 25.
This is a well constructed extension lead. I currently have 4 devices drawing different amounts from the supply. There are no problems with over heating or electrical humming/buzzing that some inferior leads can produce.
I’m sure my family and I will put a lot of demand on this extension lead over the Christmas period.
Due to a debilitating mental condition I can’t be around extension leads that have any more or less than one more socket (or ‘gang’ in extension lead parlance) more than it has metres of lead. This has led to unpleasant incidents in the past, more than one of which required the police to be called.
This extension lead balances my equation perfectly.
Also useful for plugging electrical devices into if you don’t have enough mains sockets.
Well I’m not saying they’re wrong but I can confirm the build quality of this item, I was a little bit nervous about this item because of people saying that it fused out and burnt them so I thought I’d order it and open up and make sure its ok to use before I use it and the build quality inside is just as good as anything I’ve seen from other suppliers.
Now I’m no electrician but I can’t see a problem with it so its 5 stars from me, and I’m using it right now to power the computer that I’m using to write this review.
The cable isn’t quite 5 meters but it is 5 meters from plug to end of extension lead so if you need the wire to be 5meters long, this might come up a little short for you. It is a nice bright white finish (not off white like some are) and it has a 6mm thick cable so if you need cable clips I would recommend 6mm because my 8mm are a little bit big.
If I have any problems I will come back and change my review but so far so good.
