Very happy with this Pure ChargePAK B1 – it fits perfectly in Pure Evoke H3. I’d seen some reviews that it can be very tricky to fit the ChargePAK connector into the radio, but it was fairly straightforward & fitted in first time with Evoke H3. Charged up the ChargePAK on receipt as instructed & it’s working perfectly: it makes the Evoke 3 easily portable (mains lead/USB not needed once ChargePAK is charged up.) Happy to recommend this Pure B1 ChargePAK!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly with Pure Evoke H3 DAB radio!

    What is wrong here?

This product as far as I’m aware is perfect, I got these charge packs for a couple of old DAB radios at home I wanted to give to work. So far they’ve worked perfectly, giving like 3 days of use without need for charge.

I’ve yet to find a current product to match this preformance of any kind.

    The downside?

It’s big and heavy. Even industrial strength velco struggles to keep this mounted on a forklift.

Slotted it in my Evoke H6, seemed to work fine. Well, it would for the price lets face it 33 for a Lithium ion battery is about as expensive as it gets, it works but isn’t value for money.
Charging took around 6 hours, with intermittent use of the radio.

I do not often leave reviews but I almost did not purchase this battery pack because of some of the reviews. Contrary to some of the reviews it was easy to fit and it took me longer to take it out of the packet than to actually place it in the radio. I charged it overnight and the next day used the radio (running on the battery pack) for over seven hours. At the end of that time it still had two thirds of the charge left according to the indicator. Thoroughly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis battery is very fiddly to fit into be Pure Evoke H3 you may need tweezers to help you fit it if you have got quite large fingers and not brilliant eye sight! I did it myself with great difficulty and so asked my partner who did it really quickly much to my annoyance but relief, so some people will be like me and some like my partner! Anyway the main thing is I can carry my gorgeous Evoke H3 Pure Radio wherever I want now into any room or the garden now and it shows how much battery charge is left, please be aware that the battery hasnt been connected properly if a small battery icon isnt showing on the small window because as soon as my partner fitted the battery icon showed but when I thought I had done it the battery icon wasnt showing, this should really be included in the instruction manual. It is a bit expensive really but this was a present to myself so I am in love with this radio and looks like it should last for many years to come 🙂

I found fitting the battery unit inside the radio very awkward. It was difficult to fit the connection wire into the radio point, as it kept falling out. Anyway, I persevered and eventually won the day! It does take several hours to charge up. I use the radio in the bathroom every morning and the charge lasts around two and a half weeks. Works well.

It’s a battery that is rechargeable. It provides voltage and it powers the Pure Sensia 200D that I bought it for. It is working fine with no problems that I know of. So I like it for that reason.
I will add though that given the “propensity” for companies to ask you to rate their products before they have even got through the letterbox is all good and well, but it leaves me in the position where I can’t give a long term opinion based on the use of it over time. It maight fail in a week or maybe in six months, so for that reason it only gets 4 stars.

I chose the genuine Pure battery pack rather than a cheaper pattern one. Just to be on the save side. It turn out great .Makes my Pure Evoke D2 truely portable and I have a radio with quality sound in the event of a power cut. I would not like to say how long a charge will last but it definatly long enough for me. I had mine on all afternoon and the gauge still showed a full charge. And I can still get the weaker channels running on the battery. The only down side is the price.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOkay – long term test – I bought this at the beginning of 2011 with the Pure Radio it’s designed for. And I’m replacing this April 2016 as it’s started to lose it’s charge very quickly. I think it’s needed a bit more charging over the last 6 months. I would reckon that it’s been recharged once a month for the first few years, and in the last 6 months a lot more often. You can decide what you think the reasonable lifespan for a battery is – I think that 5 years might not be bad – but given that this costs half the price of the radio itself, you might be forgiven for thinking that it could be a little more durable. I considered buying a non-pure replacement (cheaper) but I haven’t seen any long term tests of spurious batteries, so sticking with what I know.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI bought this battery along with a new (my second) Pure Mini Series II radio. I have had the first radio for almost 4 years of trouble-free daily use. Two weeks ago I bought a cheap Goodman’s Canvas radio for 19.00 but had to return it on the day of purchase because it would not work. So I decided to buy a second Pure radio. This battery costs more than the Goodman’s radio! The Pure Radio plus battery costs over 70 so it is not cheap for a small radio.

However once you get the battery into the radio and charged it has a long life for listening as a portable. In all the years I have had my other PURE radio I have never had a flat battery. That’s because when I am listening to the radio as ‘mains radio’ the battery is recharging in the background. No hassle of pulling a battery or batteries out of the radio to put them into a charger. It works well.

Apart from the cost of the battery my only quibble is that it is very fiddly to get it plugged into the radio. There is an instruction leaflet with the battery and a warning not to force it into position. However it really needs some sort of ‘docking mechanism’ which would guide the radio plug-in into the proper connecting point. There is none and it is hard to know whether you are pushing into the right place. Last night it took me more than half an hour just fiddling with it to get it to the correct spot – of course when the connector was properly aligned with the socket in the radio it slid down into place very easily with no need then to force. Finding that correct alignment however is a nightmare. Having said that, the good news is that I won’t have to take the battery out or put it back in again as long as the radio keeps working and the battery problem should be a once in a lifetime exercise. For me its twice in a life time because I recall having the same problem with my other radio 4 years ago.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes just what it says on the tin its a battery and its rechargeable. It is a bit fiddly to get the plug in but other than that its ok.
The only problem with the battery is if the mains power fails it does not take over, but if you unplug the mains charger it then is switched in and the radio etc works I was assumed it was battery backup when the power failed as I was going to use it in the bedroom as both a radio and an alarm clock. I will give it a try by switching off the mains power for ten minutes and then turning the power back on to see if it forgets its alarm setting. But it is a good battery power if you want to be outside but will have to wait for warmer weather to try it.

If you have a PURE radio portable then this is a must for me.

Lasts long enough between charges …expensive …yes but made for the radio and “fit and forget”. The battery has lasted 6 years being used for 1-2 hours per day on average. The battery now (2016) does not hold its charge for more than 2-3 days and takes all day to charge. Previously it would would last a of approx 3 weeks before charging and never played on high volume. I am ordering a new replacement. If you are using the radio at high volume and for long periods then better to have the mains adaptor.

would recommend its a good product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhen I bought my excellent Evoke radio I had considered doing without a Battery Pack. Being severely disabled I go out and about very little and, when in the house, remain fairly static. However, I had misjudged the amount of mobility I had become involved in on a day to day basis. The battery is a boon for me, for other members of the family and also for occasional visitors who appreciate being able to spirit the Evoke away to some quiet spot where they can catch a favourite programme. The ChargePAK F1 is simple to insert and trouble free to charge and I wouldn’t be without it.

Bought this to go with a Pure Evoke 2S as a Christmas present this year. Generally delighted with it apart from the BUT…

Easy to fit and gives fantastic endurance. It seems to give about 24 hours life. The only drawback is the BUT…

The BUT is that it seems to need 24 hours charging from flat every time, not just from new which is a bit disappointing. The Pure One we had before seemed relatively much quicker, so you need to think of using the radio while connected to the mains as much as possible or when not in use. Fine if it used mainly in a stationary situation like a bedside radio with only occasional use as a portable, but I bought the combination to use mainly as a portable, hence only 4 stars. The radio itself can tell you the level of charge so you can plan ahead. But there is a BUT to the BUT…

Unfortunately the radio does have a fault and Pure are replacing it for me no problem, so it is possible (but unlikely) that the fault includes the drawback of slow charging.

Opened the bag to find the battery in a box, in shrink wrapped hard plastic – the type you need scissors for. I opened up the radio’s battery compartment and stopped. The battery box was smaller than the radio compartment and I thought I had the wrong battery.
However, pictures of radios alongside the battery on the website did match my radio and I opened the box. The connection requires you to insert the battery to the right and slide it to the left up against a “flat” connection. There is a piece of foam which needs to be compressed slightly and for you to line up the three bits of plastic on the back cover with the holes to lock it in place. You might not get the plastic cover back on first time but just be gentle and it will go.
Some charge in the battery and will run this flat before charging the recommended 34 hours.

I thought this was quite a costly upgrade but treated myself anyway, along with a remote and additional speaker. Was worth the expence as my radio is now propperly mobile. I normally leave it plugged in and take it out in the garden when the weather permits (scotland), the battery has outlasted my afternoons out so far so all i can say is that as long as you only intend to use it for a day before recharging it will deffo last!
Overall worth it as without it your radio isn’t all it can be!

Before buying this, i had spent well over 20 on charger plugs which did not last very long. The wires on the plugs soon frayed or ripped and given that the chargers cost about 10 each, i decided it would be a better investment to get this charge pack. Now my Pure One Mini is truly portable and it goes with me throughout the house and garden, even when I am on the throne! It takes a couple of hours to charge fully, but the charge lasts a long time. Well worth the money imo.

It fits into the radio nicely and charges well. It works perfectly well when I then disconntect from the power. Having had it for about three years now I can testify that it is still happily taking a charge and powering my radio for a long time before it needs another. This suggests to me that it is of good quality. You cant say fairer than that other than perhaps that it is rather expensive for what it is.

I bought a radio for my neighbour’s son as a present when we visited England. When I arrived home in Cyprus I realised that this ChargePak was required. I had to wait until a relative was visiting to bring the ChargePak out as I couldn’t find one in Cyprus. I really think this should be included when you buy the radio. My neighbour’s son is now delighted with his present, although he had to wait for the battery pack.

This battery charges & lasts well. The battery charge level indicator in the radio display is a helpful gude to when it needs recharging. It is essential to the portable use of the radio, which was what I wanted it for – to have with me when pottering around the house & garden. I think it should have been supplied with the radio. Bought separately it is very expensive & disguises the true cost of the radio..

Bought this due to a recent power outage left us with no TV or radio.

It’s a bit fiddly fitting in the battery bay, and as others have commented the flying lead could be a couple of cm longer to ease fitting. Also the plug only fits one way so must make sure it’s the correct way when inserting into the socket in the radio (this was not obvious from looking at the plug and socket – and the instructions were not that clear as the diagram is very small).

Have used in my Pure One Mini radio with this battery pack for a few weeks now. Once installed, it charges while still allowing you to listen to the radio. The radio has a useful battery indicator, in the same way as a mobile phone. Holds charge well – have used radio daily over these weeks and still shows one-third charge left.

In terms of value, I still don’t believe a rechargeable battery for a small radio should cost over 20. That’s nearly 50% of the original cost of the radio!

After reading the reviews on the ChargePAK C6L I was put off a little by a number of dissatisfied purchasers particularly one who said they had trouble charging it in the first place. However after looking at the price of batteries now I decided that, assuming I didn’t have that problem, it wouldn’t have to last long to pay for itself and the inconvenience of low batteries usually coinciding with the programmes you most want to listen to made it a “no brainer”. I ordered my ChargePAK a few weeks ago, it arrived quite quickly and it was already charged. I waited until the batteries in my Pure One elite were “dead” and inserted the ChargePAK. I have only been using it for a little over two weeks to date but have had no problems and by keeping it topped up by charging overnight I am able to use the One elite as long as I want during the day or night and therefore get more use out of it. Based on my “limited” time using it I am highly delighted with the ChargePAK C6L.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe’ve not stretched this battery at all – it main usefulness sofar is that it saves having to switch the power cable on at its inconveniently placed wall socket every time. But the battery does the job well and the diplay on the radio makes it clear whether the mains power is on or off. The battery is awkward to fit – with a small multipin plug to fit into a small, largely hidden socket, but once it’s in it’s in. And one feels that, even with a welcome discount, a big markup is being made somewhere – but maybe it really is costly to produce.

Recently bought this battery for my One Flow radio, it does just as its supposed to which now allows me to take my radio into the garden when the suns out. Easy to fit and then just plug radio into mains to charge and it’s done. only complaint or rather a niggle is that for what it is I think it’s price is a bit steep, and it should have been included with the radio not as an after service extra, but that’s Pure’s error not Amazons.

This is an item I have waited a long time for, but nobody seemed to make me happy buying it for me at Christmas or as a Birthday present. I decided to go and get it myself just as the Summer holidays started and I knew I would be working outdoors loads and wanting to never miss a moment of the olympics. With my battery bought I could finally take my digital radio outdoors and enjoy my radio all day. This is an expensive expense and made me thing hard about buying it to justify the cost in relationship to the price of a digital radio, but having it makes me satisfied that I am maximising use of the radio; so in effect it was justified. Highly recommended, but get a few people to pool in and buy it for you for Christmas.

We ended up having to buy this battery pack after getting a Pure radio and finding out that it won’t work (out and about) without it, although we didn’t find this out until we had spent 40 on the radio already!!
Despite the added expense of the battery pack, it has been a worthwhile purchase. It holds charge for hours. My only complaint is that it also takes hours to fully charge!
We charged it for 1 1/4 hours from flat, and it only added one bar of battery gave us a couple of hours use. Providing you can fully charge the battery pack, it will play for hours.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI originally purchased the Pure One Mini Radio from Amazon some eighteen months a go and consider it to be an excellent item. Originally intended for use in my new office at work for a promotion that failed to transpire it has been used since in my shed. I spend a great deal of time in my shed a love the radio; but it has always frustrated me that in order to make the radio portable I have had to pay extra for the battery, on what I considered to be was already a quite expensive item to start with.

So it is for that reason that I have always been reluctant to make the purchase; I’ve always had the Battery Pack on my Wishlist monitoring it’s price, and finally decided that when the price went below twenty pounds recently I’d give it a shot, and I’m glad I did!

The item comes with very minimal packaging and instructions, although these can be downloaded from the Pure website if required.

The battery is simple to install, fittng neatly into the holding section.

The battery charges permantly whilst connected to the mains electric, and this is indicated by a small battery symbol on the LCD screen.

It feels really good to be able to simply unplug the radio and carry it out into the garden with no interuption in service.

The fully charged battery provides approximately ten hours use; and adds very little overall weight to this lovely little radio.

I’m genuinely pleased I finally relented and bought this item; the only reason I am unable to give it five stars is that I still believe that the radio itself should be provided with the battery; but I must stress that this should not deter potential buyers, it is a wonderfully designed and constrcted little product.

Bought this for my sensia and it is a genuine Pure product. Easy to install and charges when the radio is connected to the mains. Once fully charged will last for most of the day before needing to be recharged – i do wonder if the batteries capacity will improve with use and as i write the battery has been charged twice. Also there are pro’s and cons to using the battery pack. A gain in mobility at the expence of a noticable drop in sound volume.

Got the pure dab mini radio earlier last year and always felt that the addition of a battery would be ideal, as the radio as a whole is rather small and would primarily be used portable where access to the mains is just impossible.

I then found this and it was perfect, keeps the charge for hours without disruption, easily charged using the mains adapter supplied and of course is easily slotted in to place by simply connecting the plug to the socket.

You almost get the impression that this was originally meant to be built in but for pure to make more money added the option to buy it separately.

Its a shame that pure wouldn’t just supply the battery or make the radios compatible with regular AA batteries but as they have not this a necessity for any new pure dab radios.

Battery pack very easy to place into the radio. The instructions are clear and concise. I then put the radio on, leaving it still plugged in and switched on for that day’s normal use of about 3 hours continuous use. I also selected and preset all the radio stations I would want to use. When I switched to standby I left it switched on at the mains overnight. Since then I have switched it off at the mains after use and the preset stations have stayed so even after an 8 day holiday. So far so good as the battery pack suits the purpose I bought it for.

Once installed this battery has proven to be a handy addition to the radio. I say once installed because it was quite a tight fit to get it into place and fix the back on again, I thought at first I’d fitted the battery wrong but no it was correctly installed but just a little too snug for comfort. Anyway, once it’s in place there’s no reason to remove it. The battery came almost fully charged but I still gave it several hours plugged in. Running off battery the radio lasts long enough for me to spend a day or two in the garden without needing to charge up again overnight.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBattery works well and is an efficient way of powering the radio when not on mains power but wasn’t much use to us because we wanted it to power the radio when not plugged in on the alarm mode to wake us up in the morning. The radio has a power saving mode automatically built in which you can’t override which means it switches off completely when on battery rather than being in stand by when on mains. The alarm mode does not, therefore, work when on battery. It does say this in the instructions but we only read them after finding the battery didn’t work as we expected !

When I noticed the cost of this battery, well, I do confess that I hesitated to buy it. At the time I bought the radio, I did not realise that it could be used with a special battery – nor did I think it would be necessary since it came with a mains lead. However, once I started listening to the many different stations available on the radio, I quickly came to the conclusion that I wanted to make it portable and for that, a battery pack was needed.
I bought the PURE Rechargeable Battery Pack and can honestly say that I am not sorry that I did. I can now carry the radio anywhere I wish and not miss out on the programmes I love. The battery? Oh yes. Well, once fully charged, it lasted for ages and I feel that the purchase was money well spent – and I am a satisfied customer.

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersThe Chargepak A1 is specific to the Pure One Mi DAB/FM Radio and works well as a rechargeable battery pack – a necessity in order to make this portable radio portable (which wasn’t initially clear to me when I first bought this radio)!

The chargepak is compact and light – adding negligible weight to the radio.

It is advertised as lasting upto 18 hours (depending on use). During first use, on a full charge, it lasted nearly 20 hours on fairly low volume (position 7 or 8) with good signal strength. It was noted as being ‘fully charged’ because it did stop charging after several hours.

The instructions do state, “When charging your ChargePAK for the first time or after an extended period of inactivity it is recommended that it is charged for around 24 hours to ensure full battery power.”

However, on recharging the battery (with the radio plugged into the mains power) it does not seem to stop charging!? After almost two weeks (yes, 2 weeks!) it was still reportedly recharging!? However, in disconnecting the radio from the mains, the battery lasted for well over 19 hours.

On a third recharge I left it charging for just a day (a full 24+ hours) before disconnecting from the mains. It was still reportedly charging. The battery lasted almost 20 hours. So it does appear to charge up OK in the stated time, it’s just that it doesn’t appear to stop charging or give a true indication as to whether it is charged, except apparently the first time it was charged?! But may be this is an issue with the radio itself and not the battery per se?

A must have for a portable radio and does it’s job well – but remember to unplug it when you think it’s been charged enough!

I bought a Pure mini DAB radio for myself and was so pleased with it I bought another for my father. He wanted to use his outside whilst pottering about so I bought (what I thought was a little over priced) a ChargePak for it. So far it has been great. Whilst listening ti it via the mains it actually charges. The charge lasts a long time and it’s great to be able to take the radio outside. Why not normal batteries? Well, by the time you’ve gone through 4 sets of AA’s and had the hassle of changing them you might as well get the chargepak. Other reviews mentioned the difficulty inserting the unit into a small hatch so I was a little weary, but it actually went in OK. Once it’s in you’re sorted. My father is happy with it and I’ll probably buy another one for my own radio. All in all very happy and it’s worth the money.

I had to purchase this to make the Pure One Mini truly portable and for use in the bathroom. Initially, I found it very difficult to fit into the radio, it is not designed to be easy but after a few attempts it finally connected – the only criticism I do have. Once installed, you don’t need to remove it again and you do get a very long charge out of it and it will save a fortune in batteries and kinder to the environment. Have only given this four stars because of the difficulty in fitting battery into radio, otherwise very good product.

This battery will give you 20 hours of radio time but it’s expensive. The radio is pretty pointless without it, a small portable radio that doesn’t come with a battery?
Now that i’ve spent the cash i’m happy, i do think PURE should offer an ‘in the box’ deal though.

The battery wasn’t too fiddly to fit as some reviewers pointed out, i have fairly big and clumsy fingers and they got the job done in a minute.

I purchased the radio to replace a wind-up radio which was used in the bathroom; I wanted DAB for convenience and sound quality, and of course battery capability was essential. I cannot speak for durability, but the battery pack works. I usually charge the battery at weekends, and it lasts the week in between, but we’re not using the radio that much. I found the instructions a little puzzling; the pack has a shrink-wrapped printed plastic cover, and it was a little unclear whether this should be removed. I concluded that it should not. The pack is a bit expensive, and unfortunately cannot be used in my other Pure radio, an Evoke 3, but the 3 is a bit bulky to carry around anyway. Four stars rather than five only because of the price.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThere is a small design fault in the Pure One Mini’s battery housing. The frame around the socket creates a quarter-of-a-millimeter step up from the back wall of the battery housing. This means that you have to move the battery’s plug, which wants to rest on the back wall, forward by that exact distance, keeping it absolutely parallel to the wall, before it will insert into the socket. This is almost impossible to do without watchmaker’s tools. As a workaround, I cut two small squares of card and laid them on the wall behind the socket. I was able to rest the plug against these and then slide the plug straight into the socket. Make sure to press it in all the way – you’ll feel two clicks. Pure needs to add a quarter of a millimeter to the back wall, either by adjusting its design or by sticking something of the correct thickness behind the socket to act as a guide. The plug itself would also benefit from some wings on both sides to make insertion and removal easier. Anyway, once in, the battery seems to work fine.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersThe Pure DAB Radio is an excellent product made even better by the use of the ChargePak. My only criticism is that the cable to the connector is very stiff and this makes connecting the battery and then closing the battery compartment door quite difficult. It took several attempts to complete the installation as closing the door dislodged the connector.
The battery has to be purchased separately to the radio – adding to the overall cost.
That said, once connected and working the battery lasts for a long time without needing recharging.

Golden Review Award: 399 From Our UsersThis is the updated version of the Pure battery pack, first available at the start of December 2007. I am using it with a Pure One radio.
It is a package the same size as 6 C type batteries, with a short cable and connector at one end. You plug the connector into a mating connector inside the battery space at the back of the radio, then fit the battery pack into the battery space. This is easy to do. Once fitted, the radio operates with or without mains power being connected. Whenever power is connected, the battery pack charges up and the radio operates from mains power.
The instructions recommend a 24 hour charge initially, which I did though the indicator suggested it was fully charged long before that.
In use I found it lasted for about 20 hours before the radio died. The indicator sits at 4 bars for most of this time then drops off quickly. From the drained state it took about 10 hours to charge again. However, I find it easier to keep the charger at my bedside and plug the radio in each night, so it does not normally fully discharge. This way, it is fully charged by morning and can be used anywhere in the house during the day for as long as needed, without running out of power.
