Having read reviews, I went for it as keen board gamers and bttf fans said it was a good game format.
Bought it as an accompanying/clue gift for tickets to see BTTF in London and it didn’t disappoint.
Good fun and a nice teamwork element. Have played twice back to back and each outcome was very different. A good tactical challenge.
A number of reviews address dice and luck as a potential negative. I think it makes the game as it forces you to really adapt your game plan. Once we got our head around it we found really creative ways to use the dice to achieve objectives.
It’s aimed at 10+ but my 7 year old could join in fine (and indeed spotted things mum and dad didn’t).
I agree with some other reviews related to the ruleset, it does take a bit to get your head round them but after a couple of turns we found we got there quite intuitively.
The presentation and materials is first class, although I would love board games with cards to ‘preshuffle’ them. We found no matter how much we shuffled them we got cards grouping together.
We didn’t ‘win’ in our first game and felt we struggled, even on ‘beginner’ but that’s not the point. The cooperation led to a fun hour or so playing.
Highly recommended
I love the Back to the Future movies and was excited to learn that there were not one but two board games based on the series coming out. This one is fairly lightweight, which is no bad thing, great for a little opener on a board games night! Easy to learn, captures plenty of the spirit of the series, great components. Might be a bit too heavily luck-skewed for some, but it’s always proved a hit when I’ve pulled it out (so to speak). GREAT SCOTT!
Great value and enjoyable board game rules seems a little tricky to get round on the first game but after a few rounds it’s really fun and fast paced recommended
What a fun game. It took us a little while to get our head around the rules of the game (a couple of practise games were needed) but once we did we had great fun working together to win the game. We loved the attention to detail with the pieces- they link so well to the film. The game says 10+ so I bought it for the whole family to play but having tried it out with my husband I can’t imagine my 10 year olds being able to get their head around it for another few years yet.
Perfect for fans for the films.
A little difficult to pick up the rules & a few things unclear, so need to make a few house rules on things, but otherwise quite addictive fun coop game worth keeping in the collection & great value at the reduced rate we paid.
Quite a lot to get your head around, but once you’ve played it a couple times I’m sure it gets easier. Well worth checking out if you’re a BTTF fan!
We’ve only managed to play it once as it was a Christmas present for the family and with lockdown and all, you don’t get to see family these days.
I look forward to us cracking this out every Christmas from now on.
Such a fun game! I love cooperative board games and this one is great. Different levels of difficulty and a different game being played every time depending on the deal of the cards. Some rules are a little vague as you go through the game, but overall brilliant. The art work on the cards is great as well
It is fun to play and definitely replayable, we have played several times with all different outcomes! There are different levels of difficulty and there is a real possibility of losing against the clock. Looking forward to testing it out with more players – I would definitely recommend.
It took me a little while to get my head around the rules, but once you play it, it all makes sense.
Played with my kids aged 10 and 7 who both loved it.
Board is reconfigured every time you play – so each game is different to the last.
Great strategy game, highly recommend!
My only complaint is that the cards are quite hard to shuffle as they tend to stay bunched together, but I imagine this will get better as we play it more.
Gameplay is straightforward after going over the rules and it has some great gameplay features such as rippling dice though time.
It becomes apparent that strategy grows through trial and error. Lose one, learn. Lose one, get further, learn. The gameplay engine feels really tight which is always a joy in this hobby and the theme feels awesome. Travelling through time, avoiding your future/past self, standing up to Biff, even leaving items in one time zone for future-you so as to help out in the future. It’s all here and it plays out wonderfully.
Can’t recommend highly enough for BTTF and non-fans too. It just plays out too well to not be liked by any board game enthusiast really. Even the dice element (a personal worry for me in the hobby as it breeds luck elements) is so satisfying and is naturally tweak-able within the rules to make an okay roll great.
Definitely pleased as punch with the purchase. Play Horrified too. It’s structured quite similarly and is just as amazing.
