This was the second time I’ve bought one of my family members a board game as a birthday present and I was surprised at how quickly it arrived and the quality of the packing – both the shipping packaging, and the design and feel of the retail box.
The box was very sturdy, as was the game board, with each miniature board game piece looming very solid. The rules seem very easy to understand for players of all ages, however, best for the adults to just play this one. The value for money is there within this game, however, there is room for expansion with this set, as owning just one version could give a sense of FOMO, just for the ability to play with other characters.
Overall, the game is easy to learn and has a collectible element to it, which could be addictive or be future birthday presents for years to come.
Personally me and my friends were looking for a shorter than 4-5 hour game to play during game nights. Even with adding rules and combining expansions this has been really fun. Simple enough to teach in 10 minutes, complicated and competitive enough to play hundreds of times. Works with other expansions with a little bit of rule twisting!
The only negative on this is that due to new features and mechanics. there is no cross over availability to the non-marvbel villainous games, despite all being disney.
Outside of that however, there’s no other complaints, I love the new multiverse and cross over territory that this game mode introduced so have a delightful win a Ulton most recently.
This game is so addictive and fun. It’s a simple concept, a little hard at first to understand all the different ways to play and all the rules but after playing half a game, it all comes easy and naturally. I’m such a huge fan and can’t stop playing
Great board game! Love it, have now bought all the other sets! Great that you can mix and match characters to play against. You do need a couple of hours to play initially but gets quicker as you get more familiar with the characters abilities and obstacles. The more that play in the same group the longer it will take, I suggest playing 1 on 1 to start with than jumping in with 5! Love the game idea though can’t wait for more villainous sets!
I have been looking forward to this game for a while considering I preferred the theme against the original Villainous game however I worry the game might have some balancing issues.
I played through a couple of games as Ultron against Taskmaster and the game was enjoyable, we played through the game whilst getting our head around the rules and found it to be a very fun game. However, after looking at some of the other villains afterwards I can see how difficult some of them might be.
If you are a fan of the theme and you have friends who aren’t looking to power game to a victory I can see it being a good fit.
The game pieces are beautifully made and the whole concept of villanous is a great one wether the Disney or Marvel version. The fact that it’s marvel just makes it that bit more special. Can be played with the Disney version also if you want to expand a current version or please both the Disney and marvel fans at the same time.
We’ve only played one round of this so far – we did Ultron vs Taskmaster – but we’ll definitely be going back for more. The game is quite detailed but easy to play faster once you learn the rules. Our game was extremely close (Taskmaster won one turn before Ultron would have). The variety between the 5 “factions” is excellent as they all have different playstyles and win conditions, so it easily avoids being repetitive. There are also expansion packs coming out to add more characters.
Would thoroughly recommend this to board game enthusiasts
So I’ve bought this for my 14yr old nephew who loves board games. I’ve opened it & took photos to share to you all. What I understand is you all have a baddie & you must master all their powers & once you’ve done that you do that to all the other players & the winner is the person who has mastered every baddies powers and become the ultimate villain. The parts are plastic but of a good grade. Each character has its own board. The instruction manual is lengthy but easy to follow. I hope that this will help others.
Highly suitable for gamers interested in marvel theme in general, had a good fun playing it. Love the fact each character has their own unique and distinct style objectives and style of playing. So far only playing in 2 players and still have a great fun, especially when playing allies to other villains domain or stack fate cards.
The only thing I dislike and like is that the fate cards are shared, and some might only effective to certain villain, so it might happen that drawing continues ineffective fates cards and feel frustrating, which it’s the case in Disney Villainous if I’m right. Well that’s fate isn’t it, as the rulebook says. On the contrast because the fate deck is shared, it feels more like all the villains live in the same universe as the game goes. Love the event cards system gives the fate deck extra flavors.
Overall it’s a great game, quick and a good one. Even for two players are lots fun.
Note: sleeved all the cards and I don’t think the original organizer is designed for that, they fit but the box couldn’t close entirely. So if you’re a gamer sleeves cards might be interested in getting a customised organizer.
Whilst searching for a game suitable for two players I was directed to this. It is such a great, engaging board game and my partner and I enjoy playing it every time. The re-playability is fantastic. My only grumble is that sometimes the wording of certain rules can be misleading and you have to dig around on forums to discover the “answer”. Don’t let that put you off. It is a really fun game to play with hours of discovery. After several weeks I still haven’t played all the characters.
Really well built, good quality playing pieces. The instructions are pretty poor, so it did take us quite a while to learn it along with the internet and YouTube videos (first game took us 3hrs), but after that once it’s provided tones of fun evenings. Strongly recommend. So many dimensions and very well thought out.
The actual game is great once you learn how to play it which takes the longest however I don’t think the one I received was new as there was no packaging on the actual box like every other game I’ve bought and the pieces inside were all jumbled up also received 2 taskmaster booklets and no thanos so we can’t play as thanos making it only 4 players
good game. good quality materials (but not as good as disney villainous). the character movers lack in terms of design.
while its possible to play with 2 players, its not very interesting. recommended for 3+ players.
needs expansion packs like the disney game!
a little bit too expensive in my opinion, but worth the money.
the characters are a little boring compared to the disney version, and half of them have a very straight forward objective so it lacks complexity and interest.
Got it like nearly 2 months ago and it’s still a must after everyday dinner. (Alternative is doing the dishes tho)
The bigges disadvantage is there are no marvel extensions yet. Still allows you to bring multiple strategies depending on the cards and situation with other villains. My best buy of 2021
Honestly, we love the Villianous games. After plowing through all Disney versions we opted to buy this. And we’re glad we did.
But be warned this has extra ways to complete an objective making it tougher, but the balancing is way off.
2 characters are much easier than the other 3 meaning if you’re only playing as 2, then it limits the possibilities compared to Disney.
In short, it’s fun. But I recommend Disney and all 3 expansions over this version.

We’ve played this game 4 nights in a row since getting it. Such a good game, highly recommend.

After playing the standard Disney villans version I had to get this one too being a massive Marvel fan!
It can take some time to get your heads around the rules/ concept. but when you do it’s a lot of fun.

My wife and I love this game, we play it almost every weekend. Enjoy the links to the comic books.
Definitely want to see and expansion at some point with Loki in. Maybe Red Skull or Malekith too.
