    These salter kitchen scales arrived well packaged and the inner box and contents were in pristine condition. My initial observation, was that these were smaller than I expected. But that was a positive, as they fit well in the kitchen. The scales don’t have a bowl, but as they can easily be set to “zero” with any container before adding the contents, this isn’t a problem. The manufacturer must have confidence in this product, as it offers a 15 year warranty. The scales come with a clear display. The scales are powered by a flat style CR2302 battery (just pull out the tab on first use). The scales come with the functions that you would expect (auto zero etc.). If you are looking for some kitchen scales, these are difficult to fault.

    The scales are great, very happy with them!

    I was disbelieving of their ability to measure liquid so I have been belt and braces doing it with a measuring jug on the scales but they are surprisingly accurate so I won’t need to keep using the measuring jug.

    The scales are so slimline, they take up hardly any space in storage or on the worktop. My last scales used to turn off far too quickly so I would still be measuring and they would turn off ( it wasn’t a battery problem, just how they were made), no such issue with these scales; I don’t know how long they take to turn off by themselves but I haven’t had an issue with that and I can turn them off manually when I am done to save the battery too.

    I have nothing negative to say about these scales, I love them!

    5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive scales

    I found these to be an excellent set of kitchen and household scales. The build it sleek and slimline, which do not take up much room on the kitchen surface, and are thin and light enough to be quite portable The curved design makes the unit easy to hold, and have a nice feel about them.

    The scales switch on quite easily, and have two buttons – one which encompasses turning the unit on and zeroing amounts (see below) and a button for changing the functions, which measures both solids and liquids in both imperial and metric — the latter covering both solids and liquids in grams and ml. You can weigh several items consecutively by re-pressing the on/zero button, so you needn’t remove one item to weight an additional one. The scales have a maximum of 5kg and its imperial and fluid equivalents.

    The device is powered by the lithium cell battery but am not able as yet to say how long this will last, so will update on this later. The surface is easy to clean to clean. I gather there have been issues over Salter scales not picking up smaller amounts below 3g, but I’ve done various experiments on this and it consistently reports quite small amounts.

    The one drawback I’ve seen is once the items is removed, the weight falls back to zero.
    Overall, this is a worthy set of scales. I wouldn’t say necessary that these look the most stylish model that Slater has produced, but I found that the portability and accuracy make up for this.

    These lightweight scales are easy to set up and use. Set up involves removing a plastic tab so the battery contacts are made. The scales have an easy to use button which you can reset to zero when you want to add more ingredients to the bowl.

    The aquatronic element of these (i.e. the specific use of measurements of fluids in either fluid ounces or millilitres is a bit of a gimmick really. 1 gramme of water = 1 millilitre. However, the conversion isn’t directly accurate when the density of the liquid is significantly different from water. For example, an extra thick double cream will not convert one to one. And as the scales can’t measure the density of the item being weighed the results won’t be totally accurate. However, for the purposes of cooking it will probably be close enough most of the time. As I don’t think that this aspect is really needed and could be misleading I have given these four rather than five stars.

    (Please note the above is based on science studies about forty years ago so if anyone thinks I have got it wrong please add a comment!)

    I own another pair of digital scales and have compared weight readings which have been almost identical which is reassuring.

    These are like most other Salter digital scales (and indeed other brands) and they all do much of a muchness with a zero function and the ability to change from imperial to metric.

    Build-wise they’re relatively light and also quite slim meaning they fit easily in my kitchen drawer.

    If you notice in the future the weight starts to fluctuate – change the battery. That said they should last a year or perhaps two before the battery starts to show noticeable decline and needs changing.

    This is a high-quality product that’s easy to use and useful to have in the kitchen. It measures accurately and the zero button allows you to keep adding ingredients to a bowl. It’s easy to change the units from grams to ounces and you can also measure in millilitres or fluid ounces, which makes dealing with liquids much easier and saves using a measuring jug. The scales are finished in a smooth black colour that means they look good and are easy to clean. They are light and easy to move around, but there’s quite a big surface which allows you to put quite a large bowl on them. I also appreciated that the battery was included, so you can get started using them straight away.

    These digital kitchen scales were smaller and lighter than I expected.

    The device uses a standard CR2032 lithium battery. One is supplied, and they are widely available when the time comes to replace it. Note that you will need to open the battery compartment and remove the plastic protective tab so that the battery can connect and the scales function.

    No bowl is provided with these scales, but because of the way they work you don’t need one. You can use any kitchen bowl or container and press the button to zero the scales (so they disregard the weight of this). You can then add your ingredient and the weight (or liquid volume) will show on the display. If you want to add further ingredients, you can zero the display again before doing so. Once you get the hang of this, it’s very quick and easy.

    One small criticism is that I find there can be a short but perceptible time-lag between adding an ingredient and the full weight registering, so the first few times I added more than I needed. I now add a bit at a time and wait to be sure the full weight has registered before adding more, particularly as I am approaching my target weight.

    Nonetheless, this is a nifty piece of kit, and I like the way it hardly takes up any space at all in my kitchen when stored on its side. Five stars from me.

    These kitchen scales are stylishly designed and packaged, as you’d expect from a brand like Salter.

    These look sleek in black and should sit well on most kitchen sides. They’re incredibly lightweight, which does make me a little concerned about reliability in the long term, but my crystal ball doesn’t cover such things and I’ll update the review if I notice these breaking too soon.

    They are relatively simple to use, once you’ve used them the first time it’s quite straight forward and intuitive. The accuracy appears good when comparing with another set of scales I have and this can measure in different units too.

    Reading other reviews some people are questioning the use of a CR2032 battery as they can be hard to find a replacement, but pretty much every high street has a ready supply of these, so don’t let this effect you’re choice of buying these.

    All in all these are a neat and tidy set of scales, that are easy to store and which does what it says on the tin. We’ll worth considering.

    Really pleased with this battery operated kitchen scale. Arrived well packed with good easy to understand instructions. The scale can measure in metric and imperial scales as well as liquid. The battery is used is a CR2032. One is suppled. However these are not standard so maybe worth getting a couple of spares in. Used this week at home and at a cooking club. Everyone found this an easy digital scale to use. Accurate measurement. Looks good too, easy to clean.

    Dead simple, easy to use kitchen scales. I liked the compact shape – easy to store in my tiny gadget stuffed kitchen. The entire top surface acts as the scale – the silver line is just decorative – if the item that you are weighing sprawls over it then the weight still reads the same. It is easy to clean too. For weighing large amounts any bowl can be placed on the top and then the scales zeroed. I have recently changed from old fashioned analogue scales – they looked pretty, but these are so much more accurate – I have noticed a huge difference in my baking. These scales can weigh up to 5kg – way more than I need for baking.

    Salter — a brand you can trust, and these scales won’t let you down. My favourite function is the Add & Weigh feature, which allows you to add ingredients to the same bowl, saving on the washing up later. The LCD screen is large and clear, to reading weight is quick and accurate in both imperial and metric to suit a variety of recipes. The Aquatronic feature measures liquids in ml or fl.oz. So theres no need for a measuring jug, you can measure a variety of liquids – wine, milk, stock, cream etc.

    Very lightweight kitchen scale, all around plastic body for easy clean. This is my second Salter scale ( previous one was heavier with metal circle on top, tougher body). Both scales are battery operated- big button battery included. I wish at least one of them had finger batteries in it- easier to find them in store.. This scale is very accurate, have an option to weight solid products and liquid (grams, oz, ml and fluid oz). When we place heavy bowl like glass one on the scale it automatically weight it but we can “zero” it and then put our ingredients in the bowl for an accurate weigh of the product only. It’s very easy to operate this scale, with only 2 buttons cant go wrong 😉

    4.0 out of 5 stars Value for money

    These weights were a little tricky to get the hang of using at first, but after a few attempts, it got easier and I’m very impressed! Measurements are always bang on perfect, the weights themselves also look extremely sleek and modern if you ask me! They feel very sturdy and are great for the price!

    These are great little kitchen scales- little and light, so easy to store. Quite easy on the eye and matches most kitchens, (if you’re fussy about that kind of thing!) and do work well- can be a little flimsy at times, but this is to be expected taking into account the size and pricing. However, overall, a great little produc

    It’s a relatively cheap and cheerful product, lightweight and made of plastic, but looks nice and is easy to use and compact enough to store in a drawer. Easy to wash/wipe clean, too.

    These scales are light and ultra slim which makes them very easy to store. They are easy to use – simply place a bowl on top, reset to zero using a button on the front and add the ingredients. The digital display is clear and to switch units of measurements there is a simple button next to the display. Being able to measure liquids is very useful – much easier than using a measuring jug. Not sure how long they will last as they are only plastic, but they aren’t too expensive so seem good value for money.

    Impressed with the fact this is so small and tidy, its brilliant!
    It is easy to use, minimal instructions , clear display and works as stated to get things to change between g and fl oz for instance.
    I found it to be i think a bit of an underweigher, I would say about 20g when i was measuring 250g out, so depends how much this will bother you, i dropped a star for that, i compared it to my other scales and more reliably to my marked jug. However I am so pleased with how well it works that I am happy to bin the older scales that are bulky!
    It is great how you you can add ingredients too and reset to zero in between.

    These are a great scales and I love the liquid function which is beyond me how it works! These would get five stars but I have a bigger set which I like even more.

    Good points:
    Small footprint and slim, you can slide it into a drawer or on its side between your cookery books and it takes up little space;
    White, clean looking, matches most things and very easy to wipe down if you have any spillages;
    Easy to change between metric and imperial;
    Seems accurate when compared with my other scales; and
    Has the measuring liquids capability that I find very helpful.

    Slight negatives:
    Slightly flimsy; and
    Expensive batteries, although one is included which helps.
