Bit smaller measurimg base than I thought for.flour.it.can be tricky
Sod the electric scales. This is light weight and very precise.
Weigh out your ingredients the old fashioned way.
These scales are very simple and easy to use and are accurate
I thought this was a mini scales, like my last one, but hey ho.
It is a bit fiddly getting the scales into the tray for storage, and quite often I have to readjust the weight back to 0 when I take them out to use them. Other than that, can’t fault them.
I made a cake with this product. It’s brilliant to use, made of plastic, good Small size big enough for ingredients but small enough to not take up a lot of space! Definitely worth the money 🙂
This is a well desigbed compact set of kitchen scales.
No batteries to be flat next time you need them, simple and uncomplicated.
Give me mechanical over digital every time!
This is simple to use which is why I chose it but it is smaller and lighter in weight than I expected which makes it easy to tip. It is easier to read than other scales
I didn’t realise how tiny they were or I wouldn’t had bought them, but they do a good job for small things.
I bought these in a hurry which is very unlike me. I didn’t realise they are tiny, and only measure up to 500g. They were bought to replace some tiny blue ones from a well known high St store. So sizewise these scales are good for me as I have literally no kitchen space. Scales wise I’d much prefer if they could weigh a larger amount though with such a small pan that won’t hold a lot I guess 500g fits. I cant comment on functionality as they’re just straight out the little box
I ditched my electronic scales that were so unreliable and kept needing new batteries for these. They are a great scale.
I use them for weighing my guinea pigs to keep track of any have lost weight for this they are not easy to read the exact number but still helpful as I can see trends over time. Weighing for regular kitchen usage they are easy to use and read. Just not to the precise gram like digital scales!
Got this to weigh out my dogs food every day. I was fed up of the digital scales batteries going dead or just stop working. These are great as there is no risk of that. He’s a very big dog so his meals are big. I put his bowl on the top of scales instead of the pot, as his food was to much for the pot. But it works a treat.
Got tired of modern scales and faffing around with batteries, so I got this analogue scale instead. It works very well, has a tare function, but unfortunately you won’t be able to measure extremely small weights like 0.02g with this.
Overall, great for the kitchen.
I just received my scales today and I’m thrilled with them! They’re EXACTLY what I wanted at a great price (currently 4.99 with free next day delivery for Prime members). I was expecting to have to pay much more for some decent scales!! They’re compact, very portable, sturdy considering they’re small, they can hold measures up to 500g, the dial is clear and easy to read, they’re easily adjustable and they’re by Salter, which is a very established and reliable make. They’re identical in type to the ones at home when I was growing up (also by Salter, although those were larger sized) and those lasted for decades! I notice from reading through reviews of these particular ones that some people are whining about the fact that they’re small. Yes, they are but the dimensions are clearly stated in the product details on this page (12 x 6.5 x 35.5 cm), as is other information about them, and they’re certainly not so small that (as per one reviewer) they’re only fit for a doll’s house …. unless it was a very big doll’s house! People need to take the time to read details that are provided instead of complaining when they receive a product and are unhappy with it because they anticipated something different. If people want to order larger scales then order LARGER ones ~ it’s not rocket science.
These particular scales are fantastic for people who want sturdy, compact scales at a great price from a reliable brand. They do the job they’re designed to do absolutely fine, they’re easily adjustable so if the weight is slightly ‘off’ by an ounce or two you just adjust it to the correct weight by using the little dial and they pack away easily into the bowl to take up virtually no room at all in cupboards or, if on the move, in a bag, say. I’ve recently got back into doing some baking and these scales are great for measuring out ingredients for cookies, cheesecakes, brownies, etc, which is exactly what I wanted them for! Care would be needed though in measuring out something like flour so as not to get it going all over the sides of the bowl – measuring out a cupful at a time. say, would be ideal so as to control how much goes into the bowl. Also, it should go without saying (but some people totally lack any commonsense whatsoever!) that when cleaning them only the bowl should be washed up and immersed in water. If any food gets onto the actual scales themselves then they can just be wiped over with a sponge or cloth with a blob of dishwashing liquid or soap on to clean them. Scales should NEVER be immersed in water.
These scales are definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made for a fiver and are sure to last for a long time with good care. I’m so happy with them!
UPDATE: I’ve just read some more of the reviews for these scales and want to say that it is VERY unfair that so many reviewers have given these scales a low star rating (often only 1 or 2 stars) simply due to the fact that they were too stupid / lazy to actually read the product details properly and, as a result, were disappointed / shocked at their compact size. They then have the nerve to give low ratings simply based on the compact size of the scales! Pathetic. As I’ve said above, if people want larger scales then MOVE ON and search for bigger ones on here instead of ordering compact ones where the dimensions and the weight they can hold are clearly stated in the product details. Marking products down simply because the buyer could not be bothered to actually read product details properly and subsequently are ‘disappointed’ when they receive a product that they anticipated would be different is ludicrous. Those people clearly have no commonsense or sense of fairness.
