It’s so easy to keep clean and turn on and off, change between the different weights. Just love it!

Well made product, seems accurate. I didn’t think I would use the Bluetooth feature but already have when measuring in things that cover the display.

We have had Salter scales for some time now and usually go for the more basic styles. Decided to go for this one, after our last one got accidently broken, as I liked the fact that it can be linked to your phone. I do like a gadget and thought it maybe just a gimick. But it has been so helpful already when weighing individual foods on a plate that covers the readout. No juggling or balancing to get the plate on it whilst trying to see the readout, just go on the app you can see the readings, zero the readings and set weights that you want to reach. I have uploaded some of my favourite recipes but haven’t used them yet, looking forward to giving it a go though. Very happy with this product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am on my second set of scales in the last 4 months. The first set stopped weighing after 2 months. It was stuck on zero and wouldn’t weight.
Salter support were utterly abysmal! Suggested some steps to remove batteries and leave a while but didn’t work. Then didn’t respond back to my emails that it didn’t help. Because it was less than 12 months old they really didn’t want to know.
Amazon customer services were brilliant and replaced the scales which are working fine and while working are excellent.
Love the Salter cook application that I can have a recipe and add the ingredients while following it. Makes things really easier for recipes, especially baking.

I love the fact it can connect to my Salter app, especially useful when you are measuring items that obscure the scale display. There is a little lag between the scale and the Bluetooth device so you have to be patient otherwise you can add too much.
As with all standard digital scales I have owned, this one is no different when measuring small amounts. Starting at 1g (when measuring yeast for example) it seems to allow far too much on the scale before registering the weight – really not confident it is accurate enough for weights under 8 grams. But for me these issues are not important – the features far outweigh (see what I did there!) the niggles

Perfect. Exactly what you need for a kitchen scale, plus you can measure liquids which not many kitchen scales it have. Definitely recommend.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis scale is inaccurate by a large margin making it useless when preparing weight-based recipes or baking. As you’ll see in the photos, it’s around 10% out. The first photo is a coffee scale the second is the salter scale.

The scale also randomly changes the measured weight using the same item which you can see in the third image.

A great set of scales. Easy to use, read and clean. Phone app is a bonus. Just make sure they are on a solid level surface.

Bought to replace some scales and so far so good. Easy to wipe clean and read the display.
Downloaded the app but not used it yet but might be useful for when I use large mixing bowl and keep adding ingredients.
Very compact so fit in a drawer rather than taking up a lot of space in a cupboard which my old ones do.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to use but two very minor issues hence only four stars, first it does not always connect first time with the App and second it can be fiddly to turn off.
I love that it does millilitres and fluid ounces as well as grams and ounces.
It looks great and wipes clean with no buttons to accumulate dirt or grim.
    Probably deserves 4 1/2 stars.

Wow – hi tech scales. They do the job, but work best with a phone where you can set the weight required and get a beep when you reach that weight. This sounds like a bit of overkill, but if total accuracy is needed, them these are a good product. They work as normal scales too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersYes – even with a big pan or bowl on top obscuring the display you can still read the weight – as by launching the app on your phone it pairs with the scales over Bluetooth almost instantly to give you a second display. This pairing doesn’t need any initial set up – it just works. Simple. Given I weigh some odd sized things this is justification to buy these scales over the cheaper alternatives. Also the whole top of the scales are easy to wipe clean as it is a uniform glass surface with no buttons or recesses for LCD displays etc. The only other reason to buy these scales is that they can take heavier items than a lot of scales but for most cookery jobs that may be overkill unless you like weighing things in Le Creuset pots, or enjoy cooking Christmas puds for an extended family.

I haven’t tried the other app features – eg for storing recipes (including ones it can look up on the web). I might try sometime but think I’d have to be pretty bored.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI wasn’t too bothered about these scales having Bluetooth and an app, I just wanted some button-less scales that would look good in the kitchen. However since the function is there, I expect it to work – but I couldn’t get the scales and Salter Cook app to pair, despite my phone detecting the scales on Bluetooth, and my partners (older) Android phone connecting without problem.

I emailed Salters customer services, to disappointingly receiving instructions on how to successfully pair Salter body/bathroom scales to their ‘Mibody’ app. The instructions aren’t applicable to these scales, and specified in my email “Bluetooth enabled kitchen scales” and gave the model number. So not a great response on the first attempt from customer services.

Fortunately when (yet again) trying to reinstall the app, I noticed the permissions ask for access to location services. I’d previously just clicked ‘allow all’ without reading it, but I wondered if the fact I leave GPS on my phone switched off might have anything to do with it.

Turns out, switching on GPS and Bluetooth (rather than only Bluetooth) lets the app pair with the scales. You also need to have GPS switched on for them to reconnect to the app, but you can switch GPS off and continue to use the scales (until you next switch the scales off or quit the app).

I doubt I’ll use the bluetooth/app function of these scales, but fortunately that’s not why I bought them. If it was, I’d be rather annoyed at having to have GPS switched on… it’s not necessary for a connection (that’s what Bluetooth is for), and both the app and scales work independently without GPS, so what possible purpose could GPS serve?

    I really like this scale.
It is compact and smart looking, easy to clean and accurate.
I do a lot of cooking and baking, and it’s important to me that I know my measurements are accurate. So far these scales have been spot on.
The operation is confined to two touch sensitive openings at the front of the unit. These switch it on and off, allow you to reset the scale to zero (for adding multiple ingredients to the one pot), and change the unit of measurement.
The app is interesting, and would be useful to cooks with little knowledge or experience, as they walk you through the measuring and preparation of ingredients.
I’m a bit more ‘free form’ in the kitchen, so didn’t use it above a few times.
    My daughter likes it though.
Even if you don’t use the app it is still a great value and smart looking kitchen scale.

This is a nice small-footprint scales which sits comfortably on the kitchen counter without using much space.

It has two buttons, one which switches the scales on and resets to zero, and the other which changes the units.

The units button changes the scales from grams to oz, to ml and fl. oz, so much more versatile than other scales. The fact that this button is on the front of the scales makes it much more accessible than most when it’s a switch on the bottom of the unit. The precision between fluids and solids is far higher as well.

The right hand button is on/off and zero, resetting the unit depending on the weight of the bowl or receptacle. This one’s a little fiddly, as it is located on the front of the scales instead of the top. But that’s also why it can be that compact, so you have to make allowances , I suppose.

The additional feature is an app which links with the Bluetooth functionality. The app features a number of recipes which link to various salter devices – like the scales and a temperature probe. The really cool thing is that you can adjust the number of servings and all the weights and timings adjust accordingly. I must say that the in-app weight display is fairly redundant as I can see it perfectly well on the scales. However if you have a big bowl which hides the scales display it would come in handy, I suppose.

All in all, it’s a great accurate kitchen scale with a number of features not found in other scales. Highly recommended as a versatile and necessary device.

I really like these scales. I think they’re a bit overpriced if you don’t end up using the Salter app for cooking (which I haven’t). However the scales are really smart and user friendly. They’re simple to set up, just putting the included batteries in.

It’s a good feature that you can switch them off by holding your finger on the touch-sensitive button, as it means they use only minimal battery power.

The scales are very accurate and quite slim so don’t take up much storage space. They’re good looking enough that you could have them out on display but I choose to slide them into the side of my breakfast cupboard.

I love the function to go back to zero with items still on the scale as I find it convenient for adding various items. I use it each morning for measuring perfect porridge with nut milk into a pan on the scales, then once cooked put my breakfast bowl on the scales and add various bits and bobs. I know it sounds a bit fussy but I used to get the proportions all wrong.

The glass topped scales are easy to wipe down. They aren’t waterproof so you can’t submerge them, but I haven’t found that a problem as it’s only the top that needs a thorough clean.

Great looking – slim & small enough to fit into almost any sized kitchen.

Nearly packaged, it comes with the 3 batteries needed to operate it. A nice touch from Salter.

In fact the scales themselves are very Salter – easy to use, well made, accurate and very professional looking.

The Bluetooth connection works well & really adds another dimension to this scales.cbb

Well worth taking the time to learn what the app can do for you – the short video that comes with it is great but there are better & more extensive ones on YouTube.

Reasonably priced, these are a great buy!

Really happy with these scales.. great looking plus never thought the app would be so useful! My boyfriend used it to great effect the other night on a fish pie when he questioned my purchase (he does not cook under normal circumstances but was somewhat intrigued)

    Highly recommend

The scale came safely packed in the box with batteries included. Nice, simple looking scale. Can show the weight in gram or oz. The number is bright and clear. The scale itself isn’t very big. It’s space saving but that also means using bigger size containers might blocking the display.
Once turned on, you can see the weight beimg displand also the Bluetooth light flashing. The light will keep flashing until you connect it to the app. However, if you are using it without connecting to the app. There isn’t anything which needs to be set up.
I feel that the scale is more accurate on measuring weight that are over 100grams. I have tried to weight a few gram of yeast and the number of the display didn’t change at all.
I particularly liked the connection to the Salter Cook app. Lots of recipes there and I have tried making scone (with a little twist) following the app and it turned out really well. The scale and the app are like good partners working happily together.
I am going to let my kid to follow some simple recipes from the app along with the scale this summer holiday. Definitely recommend it.

A nice solid scale, good weight to it. A backlit screen and very soft touch 0 and units buttons. Weighing seemed accurate and fairly stable. Can display negative units also which is handy. I linked the bluetooth to the Salter Cook app, was easy enough. I didn’t like that you are forced to signup for an account to make it work. It then displays the weight on the scale on your device, albeit with some lag. I have to ask… why? A bluetooth too far imo. I’m not a gadget fan tbh. Pleased with them and 30 isn’t too expensive. Salter is the only scale brand i would consider. Recommended.

These are good scales, which can be easily stored, even in a small kitchen. You can switch between weights, so from metric to imperial – but where these really stand out is the bluetooth connection. You do have to download the app to enable the bluetooth to connect to your phone. Once done, you can see the weights on the app – so it doesn’t matter if the screen on the scale itself is covered. The app has recipes you can access – and you can add your own recipe to store these – and the app automatically scales up if you want to make double / triple etc… You can also use it to share the recipes via social media and download recipes from other sites.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt is certainly worth watching the short video above for what you can do with the free SALTER COOK App, especially with the brand’s thermometer (available separately)!

    ooOoo

    ~ SALTER
~ BLUETOOTH CONNECTED KITCHEN SCALE & APP
~ MODEL NUMBER (on base): 1193 BKDR

    COLOUR: BLACK

    ‘Made in China’

    ooOoo

The scales come packed in a sturdy lined cardboard box, measuring around 30 cm x 20.5 cm x 2.5 cm, with the functionality, on the back.
A handy QUICK-START GUIDE and an INSTRUCTION LEAFLET are included.

The 3 supplied batteries are easily inserted in the plastic-type, silver coloured casing on the base, which has 4 little rubberised-type feet for stability.

With rounded corners, the slim black coloured scales with silver grey contrast measure just over 17 cm square, on my measure. The controls are touch sensitive on the bottom edge, with UNIT on the left and the ON/OFF switch with ADD/WEIGH/ZERO facility on the right.

They have a good sized, backlit digital display ~ up to 10 Kg/22 lb/10000 ml/350 fl. oz.
The smooth glass top easily wipes clean with a damp cloth, in my experience.

Good looking scales with Bluetooth function you can link to a recipe app — 5 Stars

I liked these a lot, particularly because they were spot-on for accuracy. I wasn’t convinced that I’d use the Bluetooth capability a lot, but the more I used it, the more fun it became. I loved that I could add recipes from a huge range of sources.

Presented boxed, these might make an ideal gift for someone who loves to cook and loves techie gadgets. They look modern and sleek, and do all the things you’d expect from quality digital kitchen scales. The display was easy to read, it offers a choice of metric and imperial measures, and you can tare after each ingredient allowing you to easily add several ingredients to the same bowl.

Overall: Reliable, good-looking scales, and not an expensive buy.

    Why we like it:

    * Compact format — around 17 x 17 cm or slightly less than 7 x 7 inch — meaning I keep it in my kitchen drawer ready for use
    * Good precision (tried weighing small quantities of sesame seeds and the results are always consistent)
    * The display is bright and visible in direct sunlight
    * Easy to clean, slash resistant surface (but do not put it into your dishwasher)
    * You can even put a large container on it that covers the display, then press a button and have the weight frozen allowing you to weigh large pots, pans etc.
    * The Bluetooth feature is a fun novelty which in time might become a desirable feature, right now it helps to collect recipes and guides you while cooking and weighing your ingredients, showing calories etc.
    * And it looks very stylish

  25. ToryGGFqjvj says:

Looks quite a stylish appliance, and as scales, you intuitively know what they’re for – which is good, as the instructions aren’t great. It’s supplied with batteries, so it’s ready to go out of the box. It seems very accurate and measures in grams, kgs, ounces, lbs and also in mls and fluid ounces (the Aquatronic feature) which is pretty useful. It has an easy-read digital display, and a maximum capacity is 10kg/22lbs which is a fairly good range.
It is simple to use with touch controls for on/zero and for changing units of measurement. The zero function is very handy when using a bowl into which you want to add different amounts of different ingredients.
The bluetooth connection is easy to set up once the app has been downloaded which is also not a problem. The blueooth feature, however, seems fairly gimmicky and unnecessary given there’s already a display built in – for example, you can set target weights and see how far you have to go on your phone’s display…..as well as on the scales themselves anyway….
The app has a selection of recipes, 20 in all, which includes not just cakes/biscuits, but also several meals and desserts, but you can add to it and share recipes & photos on social media too. There is also a timer function in the app which would be useful as a reminder if you were somewhere else in the house, away from the kitchen. I think you need to be either a cooking aficionado or prepared to invest some decent amount of time in using the app, however, as if all you want to do is measure quantities, it’s not needed at all since the scale has its own display. The app will connect to other Salter devices such as thermometers, however, which seems much more useful.

Delivered by Amazon driver who respected social distancing and left the box at my front door.

I had a smaller set of digital scales but when I saw these Salter ones I knew I had to get them. Since lockdown I’ve been doing a lot of baking and need scales that are accurate.

Taking them put of the box the first thing that hits you is the white border on the scales black glass. The on off button is at the front on the righthand side of the scales and on the lefthand side is the unit measurement.

I placed the three aaa batteries in the base and replaced the cover. The scales immediately switch on and the Bluetooth signal flashes.

You can connect this to your phone or tablet, if you do there is a Salter Cook app that gives you hundreds of recipes, you can even download your own.

I love the look of these scales as much as the simple operation of them.
The best part is the Add and Weigh function which allows you to place the mixing bowl on the scales and zero the units, so you can add all your ingredients measuring everything as you go. Being able to switch between grams ounces & mls. Fantastic if you’re making a dough mix for bread that needs liquids as well as dry ingredients.

They also weigh up to a huge 10kgs in weight. Nothing short of a miracle for something so aesthetically pleasing.

I’ve had lots of Salter Products over the years mainly because you can rely on their accuracy. Beauty and Reliability and only 29.99 I don’t just like these I LOVE them
