Does what you expect. Basic scales that weighs loose items and small boxes. Bowl is small but we’ll made. Reasonable price, quality make.
I like this. I’ve just made a cake using these scales and it turned out OK. So the measurements are accurate. I like these old-fashioned scales. No worry about hunting for a battery for a digital scales,!!
I like everything about them small compact easy to us
Use for baking!!
These scales suit me fine !
Not one for digital stuff!
Good old fashioned scales for good old fashioned baking! Great well made product!
It works and looks good, great value. Very light and is plastic though
Nice scales but a bit “fragile”. Could do with something a bit more robust.
Although I was disappointed with the weight of the scales I have to say they are very good and accurate, I am just very careful when I use them.
It took me a while to figure out the bottom of the bowl and the mount it stands on was in fact oval in shape, so you need to put the bowl on the mount and give it a twist, to sit properly. Very easy to read, and no problem of a battery running out as in digi scales.
Great scales, do the job soundly. A few of the reviews suggested the removable weighing bowl being unbalanced and easy to fall off but i can’t say I’ve personally experiened it, although you just need to ensure it’s sitting properly before you begin. These scales are reliable and after comparing them with my digital scales seem to be accurate. There’s an adjustable cog to set the starting weight which is useful and the scales are simple and easy to read. The only negative things I have to say about these scales is that the gram increments are in 25g so it’s difficult to measure between those measurements, but it’s still doable and not really cause for concern. The bowl is dishwasher safe and has been used for several months without any warping or melting. I’d definitely recommend.
Works for me. Good to have next day delivery. Smaller than I expected but actually that is a good thing in terms of the space it takes up. Nice clear face and happy to have found scales with imperial as well as metric.
As other reviewers have said the tray bit is a bit off and needs to be lined up each time to ensure you can measure the quantities exactly but its a nice colour and stylish.
Got this as a Christmas present! Great buy, just wish it was easier to measure smaller quantities more clearly as I am only cooking for one! But I got what I ordered and for our flat baking cakes its perfect!
The Product does the job well. Something about the Metric numbering is confusing, but with time I will get used to that. So far the measurements seem accurate and consistent. The scale does not fit inside the bowl; however the bowl can be flipped upside down to help keep the bowl and the scale dust-free. It does have a cheap feel to it, but not flimsy.
This is just what I was looking for – no fuss just put the flour in the bowl and get the right measurement – I tried more expensive scales but they were difficult to read and temperamental – this does exactly what it is suppose to – it’s a no brainer – idiot proof just what i needed – love the colour & numbers easy to see – love it would definitely recommend this to any other brand – expensive does not
mean it will work better – I’m so thrilled i found this little gem
And she was too heavy. The bowl tipped sideways and Tiddles fell out. I think she weighs 1stone, well she’s eaten a lot of mice. Anyway, great set of scales and I have to say that since I bought these scales I’ve turned into Mary Berry. My kitchen is the epitome of The Great British Bake Off. The difference is, I’m not baking anything. I’ve compromised and lined the weighing bowl with a bit of old hessian I found in the privy and Tiddles sleeps in it every night. The vet said how well she’s looking and has stopped her heart tablets so Im really pleased. Me and Tiddles can’t recommend Salter Orb Scales enough.
Item is perfect for cooking. We are 3 people and we wanted to make cakes and stuff, and it was quite difficult to follow exactly the recipes.
It shows measures in kilos and oz (maximum weight 3 kilos).
The top bowl is disposable, so you can wash it (I think you can even put it in the washing machine).
It doesn’t need any batteries, and you can adjust the ‘zero’ point from the black button which can be seen in the front pictures.
I would definitely recommend it. It is cheap, and it works great.
These scales I chose mainly because I’m changing to a purple kitchen. They are ideal for me – I live on my own and may only need to use occasionally – the small bowl for family cooking might mean if you’re weighing big amounts of flour etc you might need to weigh half at a time. Having said that,it does weigh up to 1 kilogram / 6.5 pounds so something solid would be no problem.
They are light, look good and numbers are very clear – both metric and lbs and ounces… and very accurate. The top of the bowl measures 7inches/18cms across and 2.5 ins/6cms high.Curves down to base of bowl which is approx 3ins/7cms…very much like a big breakfast bowlso takes up very little room. Salter is a very well known and reliable make and I am really pleased with my purchase – I see the colour as a bonus and leave them on the side to be admired!!
