Suddenly I have something that works with my MacBook USB-C and my work PC USB-B posts and that can keep a number of large documents, presentations etc on a single stick. So far so good and great value in the special deal of the day when I bought it.
You do tend to pay more for SanDisk products but they have never failed me, so when it’s important files and you don’t have time to faff with cheap products then this is the one to go for!
These are great memory sticks but the sliding plug tends to pop back into the case. Mind you, I can work around that and now have two of them. In my opinion, SanDisk is the best of the bunch.
When my desktop finally died a death, I replaced it with a new laptop. Trouble was . my old desktop had USB-A ports, whereas my new laptop had USB-C ports. So I wanted some means of using my previous (USB-A) storage devices with the new machine — and this seemed just right.
It’s a neat little connector that sits happily on my desk, and provides the connectivity that I occasionally need. A good choice, I feel.
Once formatted on Aomei Partition Manager managed to show the near full capacity of 128gb. Was only showing just over 32gb at first and normal windows formatting wouldn’t change the capacity. Thought it was a dodgy product. Looks like it had been factory partitioned incorrectly. Transfers nice and fast USB 3 Speeds.
Bought this to transfer ROM Files from pc to steamdeck and keep a backup of games it’s been great and I love how it’s a USB and USB C in 1 would highly recommend buying i
Bought to listen to music collection in new car as car manufacturers don’t seem to like old formats like cd players.
Thinking of installing a gramophone in the boot, might be an issue with speed bumps though!
Without this all 3000+ photos and videos I would of lost. I’m so happy I saved all our memories from 10+ years ago and they are all safely stored on this memory stick. I Recommend this to anyone who has USB C phone.
Easy to use very reliable I use the stick for dash cam data perfec
Does what it’s for which is to be a transfer device between machines which only have USB-A connectors and machines with only USB-C connectors. Only flaw is that when you push it into a USB slot it tends to slide the connectors back into the case so you have to be carful when using it.
Excellent piece of essential kit, particularly for Steam Deck with the dual ports A & C.
*note…..if you have a case which covers around the USB C port on the Steam Deck, then you may need to temporarily remove it as the cut out clearance may not allow access.
Most importantly Do not delete any files already on disc You will loose GBs lost 6 some how after I deleted thinking I’d have more space
I have no idea how this gizmo works. Could be black magic for all I know. But it does work. Good price too.
These are good value, high write-speed usb sticks with twin connectors – vital for my streaming/ recording kit when formatted exFat. Note it takes ages to format these (30min+ to 60min).
Love this product. Used it to back up my computer files and still have loads of storage space left.
Well made, sturdy. Has both USB-A and USB-C connections so can be used on most any device.
Light, portable and convenient when switching devices.
One downside is the actual storage space you get, but I suppose that’s normal.
I download a file and it took for ever, I assumed it was my download speed, took about 3 hrs+ and I gave up, bought this stick download in 10 mins, so it was the stick that was slowing write. So upshot is I’m impressed!
Duel connection, decent storage, compact, fast and reliable. So fed up with different devices having different connections that weren’t compatible with my thumb drives and this solves all of those problems.
Only complaint is that it took me FOREVER to find a lanyard small enough to thread through the TEENY TINY hole in the case and then another eternity trying to thread it through. Perfect once done, but it should come with a lanyard or strap attached – I understand that making the hole bigger would increase its footprint, but if it didn’t have a strap, it’s so small, I would lose it for sure.
Very good value and very good product, fast transfer and good storage. Has a easy to slide mechanism but I note that my one has a slight issue where one end does not fully ‘lock in’. Despite this minor hiccup which I suspect is only with mine, it works great and served me well for a long time so far with education and work.
I’ve always struggled with dongles as a MacBook user (everything is USB C), but transferring files to other devices or legacy laptops (with USB A connections only) has been a hassle. I’ve had to rely on cloud transfers, which relies on the speed of your internet and depending on the file size it can take a long time!
Now I have this handy piece of kit, it’s been a life-saver! I can transfer files from my MacBook using the USB C end, then move it quickly to a Windows laptop with USB A (and vice-versa) with no issues at all.
The price, physical size and storage capacity are perfect for me. I highly recommend it, and trust SanDisk as a storage company so it’s great for my needs.
After a few months I have found it difficult to plug the USB-A end in without it retracting
Other than that a great USB
Fast transfer of files from android phone to USB and vice versa. Works very well. Couple of negatives. Noticed the USB gets hot quite quickly when doing transfers and the clip on the slide that goes up and down to take out USB/micro USB is a bit flimsy so be very gentle with it. Any rough handed-ness and you may damage it.
My only gripe – and it’s pretty minor – is that the device is so tiny and potentially a bit of a challenge for the more fat of finger. Recommended and if they ever offer a 512GB variant I’ll buy it.
Well I wanted an upgrade my flash stick. Tend to get a new one every couple of years. with flash memory price on the drop I thought it was a great chance to pick up the 256GB model of this drive. I have used it a couple of times already and impressed with the R/W speeds. certainly not the fastest but it will suit me for what I do. It about half the size of my current drive so I need to make sure I do not loose it. Does warm up but no performance issues to note as of yet. not any warmer than my other drives. Plus this has USB-C as a bonus. not had a chance to use it but will give it ago later . hopefully no issues there too.
For work I use both a Windows PC and a recent (at time of writing) Macbook Pro. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, but the main issue I have is transferring data from one to the other as the Macbook doesn’t have USB A ports, meaning my existing USB thumb drives aren’t any use. I tried using a cloud based solution, or sometimes just email for smaller files. However, for big documents like Photoshop files or videos, using something like Google Drive was incredibly slow, and I didn’t want to pay for online storage, which I can’t imagine would be much faster anyway due to the bottleneck of my internet. This little USB A/C thumb drive has been great for occasional transfer to large files between PC & Macbook without needing go via the internet or trying to set up a local network connection between the Windows PC & Macbook (which I’ve tried and wasn’t very usable or stable). So a handy little gadget for this sort of application.
What can you say but Sandisk (WD) are one of the leaders in this area with memory cards and flash drives which can hold a vast amount of saved images and videos too.
The memory stick no matter the brand will get warm or hot when storing images or transferring them and its nothing to worry about. Having recently been asked if could save files from PS5 to PC, I have transferred images from the PS3 Ps4 onto pc and given the software to open files these days it should be ok.
Good value in terms of the amount of portable storage for the price paid.
The device is flimsy however, it runs hot and is by no means a stellar performer.
Time will tell if this purchase proves to have been worthwhile.
This is a tremendously fast memory stick and it’s great value for the amount of storage it has.
By no means is this a replacement for an SSD, but it is definitely sufficient enough to carry a lot of small files inside.
The points that I’d like to point out, under my usage, are that:
– The slider of the USB sometimes isn’t latching enough whilst inserting to a device, causing it to go back to the centre and retracting the USB. (Not a problem with the Type-C connector though)
– When transferring many files, or large-sized files onto the stick, via USB 3.0, it heats up to ridiculous temperatures, it is very alarming to the person who will touch the stick.
As some parts are metal, the heat that has transferred to it may be too hot for people with sensitive fingertips.
Otherwise, it is still all alive and well. Would recommend!
