We already had a scuttlebug, which my child had out grown so we were looking at getting her the XL version. They absolutely love speeding around on it and it’s great for building up the leg muscles for cycling. It’s suitable for use both indoors and outdoors, and the wheels don’t mark wooden floors.
Lovely ride on. Very sturdy. Fully assembled. Lovely bright colours
For the price, I wasn’t expecting much – we bought this for our toddler so that we could take it on holiday (instead of a pushchair) and I was really not expecting much from it, especially for the price – but its amazing! Even better, our son LOVES it!
It comes already assembled apart from the handles so 2 quick clicks and its ready to go. Folding and unfolding is easy-peasy but it cannot be done by accident or whilst your child is riding it.
If you take the handles off (easily done) it can fit in a carry-on size suitcase although it takes up most of the case. You can buy an unbranded carrying strap for about 2 pounds too so you can just wear it over your shoulder (it weighs very little to carry)
We chose this version over the original/smaller version as our son is pretty tall for his age (96cm/2years old) and we were worried the other one would be too small – we made the right decision, this fits him perfectly with some room for growth.
He has loved it from the second he saw it and whizzes round on it at top speeds. Overall I’m really happy with the purchase and cannot fault the thing. Very happy and shocked at the quality of this trike!
Great fun little bike for the little ones in the family, although it does extend my toddler outgrew it closer to the 30 month mark but I would definitely recommend, great quality, folds easily into the seat structure too and can be easily transported
This scuttle bug is very well made. Very sturdy and smooth running wheels. The legs fold up making it easy to take for transporting to the park etc. I pop it in a rucksack to take to the park with my grandson. The adjustable legs are fabulous and will allow extended use. My grandson loves it so much I brought one for a friends grandchild too.
Folds up very easily and fantastic quality for the price
I bought two of these for my 18mth old grandsons for Christmas….they absolutely love them! So sturdy & robust. Love the bright green colour!
My little girl loved her original scuttle bug but due to being tall she outgrew it by time she was 3. We have bought this one and she fits it perfectly (although already on tallest setting). She loves going around the house on the hard floors on this. If your child is tall would recommend getting this XL one from the start.
We got this in the sale for my 2 year olds birthday and it’s been a massive hit. My oldest loved his skuttle bug when he was younger and he was really upset when it got too small so this time I opted for the XL. Its just the same as the normal skuttle bugs, still rides the same etc but it has 2 extra levels of height. My 2 year old (a little on the short side for his age) has it on the lowest setting so there’s plenty of growing room.
Definitely recommend!
Fully recommend this – my son isn’t interested in balancing bikes at the moment but loves his skuttle bug XL and it grows with him as you can adjust the height so perfect and will keep him going for a while!
It’s ok for tall kids and it is really nice.
Only hoped to find one on red but my son likes it.
Love scuttlebugs! Easy to mobilise, sturdy and folds away very nicely and easy to bring for a day out. Just make sure you order the right size! I ordered the smaller 1 first not realising, kept it anyway as I have a baby that will soon grow into it!
Bought this for our 3 year old autistic little boy who’s suddenly taken an interest in his ride on toys, we had the smaller one but now he’s outgrown it we was looking for some similar and saw this one. He plays on it everyday and absolutely loves it so well worth the purchase. If you’re hesitating, buy it, you won’t be disappointed.
Little lad absolutely loves it, he’s 2 and a half and this fits him perfectly. He was struggling to get to grips with a balance bike but this has been a brilliant stepping stone which has helped him learn some transferable skills. He now insists on taking it everywhere with him, not sure how happy the other shoppers at the supermarket are about this!
Our two year old loves it. He can get up lots of speed going down a hill… or round and round the dining table.
Only issue is that the rear wheels seem to ‘toe out’ quite a bit and it makes a screeching sound above walking pace.
My little one is almost 3 and loved his scuttlebug. He is tall for his age so we have it on the highest setting. I hoped it would last a little bit longer but can’t complain as I am happy the XL was an option. The normal scuttlebug would have not been worth the money, as it would have been outgrown too fast. Seems robust and i prefer the colour scheme. Got it while on offer for a little over twenty pounds, so i would say value for money. It can be easily stored which is a big plus.
Great for the kids (I purchased two), both my kids loved the original so when I see the XL version I had to get it. The kids get so much fun from them it was worth every penny.
The XL version is very similar to assemble as the original, very intuitive but if you are have trouble the instructions are very easy to follow.
The XL version only comes in one design (from what I’ve seen), the main difference is it has a number of adjustable settings to make it bigger.
When folded down it is very compact and great for popping into the car to take it to the park or just to pack away when it’s not being used.
Best scuttle bug. I do like the colours. I didnt bother buying the smaller versions. I went straight to this one. You can make it bigger as their little legs grow. It is easy to fold and take with you out and about. Its been bashed around quite abit but still remains intact. I love that its very stury and durable! It will definitely last a vert long time. It’s a little pricey comoared to the other smaller scuttle bugs but because I didnt buy the others and went straight to this one I think it is worth it. Child is currently 16 months and i thinl this scuttle bug will be used until atleast 4 years of age.
My granddaughter loves her scuttlebug. I love the fact it can be made bigger as she grows. She’s very tall for her age (2) and she quickly outgrew her original scuttlebug which my daughter bought for her when she was 14 months old. I love that it folds down flat for storing and she can often be found chattering away to it as it has its own little face and personality. It’s light but sturdy. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting a first trike for their child. (We actually bought a wooden 4 wheeled trike from a big department store but she never took to it – it was very heavy for her to manoever. The scuttlebug is much easier)
My son really adored his smaller red scuttle bug and at 4 years old (to big for it) would still race around the house on it! he wouldn’t let me get rid of it so i had no idea what i could replace it with as he loved it so much, it was just so small for him. Then i found THIS (life saver) bigger one!!! i was so excited to buy this for him so i could now pass on his red one to someone else. I did wonder now turning 5 just how much bigger than the red one it would be, but thought i have nothing to lose, so ordered it for his 5th birthday. He as so happy and its bigger because it extends at the front and back and has been spinning around the house on it ever since!!! He said mummy it goes so FAST!!! so if like me you feel stuck on what to buy if your toddler is outgrowing the red scuttlebug but loves it I highly recommend this one!!!
