Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI must admit I was a bit apprehensive as to will I find them easier to use than lots of others I’ve got, but they do everything they have said they would. I wish I had seen them earlier .

I first used this tool to trim a large garden shrub, no effort needed, I wish I had had one of these years ago, rather than cheap models.

The locking mechanism is a little OTT and if you are like me with arthritis in your hands, you will really struggle to lock these, I do not think the price warrants plastic locks, overall a good idea, but doesn’t work well.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI found these secateurs needed much less pressure than others I’ve used when pruning roses. However, like other users, I found it impossible to release the catch. Someone else eventually managed that for me, but I can’t lock them closed. The catch is ridiculously hard to shift which is a shame as, otherwise, a very good product.

Bought this for my 90+ Mum who has weak hands. The only thing wrong is that it is impossible for her to unlock, therefore she has to leave it open all the time which gives her the risk of cutting herself when she picks it up. However she assures me apart from this it is the best pair of seceteurs she has used

I am happy with these secateurs, but gloves should be worn when using them, as the handle rubs on your thumb and causes blisters. the button to open and close the secateurs is stiff, i needed to use a screwdriver to budge it, they are very strong and well worth the money.

I comment as a woman who found it impossible to open the secateurs due to the strength required and the same reason applies to ‘use’, ‘hold’ and ‘comfort’. However a man would undoubtedly find them very useful and of good quality.

On receipt of these secateurs I have reduced the height of a very large and sharp thorny shrub with relative ease the secateurs worked very well, my only complaint is that the secateurs slip when I have thornproof gloves on.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersI have a muscle wasting disease which affects my fingers and I also have arthritis in my thumb joints. This means that I am no longer able to use my ordinary secateurs. I was very sad about this because I enjoy gardening. I hesitated in making a purchase because of some of the 1-star reviews but I took the plunge and I am very pleased that I did. Contrary to these reviews, I have no problem with the safety catch even though I have very weak fingers. I also have no trouble with the oily sponge bit falling out but, even if I did, it is hardly an essential feature – more like a clever added extra. To be honest, at the end of a gardening session, I get a rag and some WD40 to clean all my tools – so the oily sponge is rarely used (just when I’ve gone out for a quick snip).

The good news is that I am able to use these secateurs. It is such a delight to be able to get back in the garden again.

These secateurs are great for cutting fairly thick, hard wood – even if you have weak hands. They are also great at the other end of the scale and will actually cut green, delicate stems rather than tearing them.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI ordered the Secateurs, Ratchet Anvil Style Shears, Made For Weak Hands But Strong Enough For Any Pruning Application as a Christmas present for my mum who had asked for a replacement, she was thrilled to receive them but we didn’t test them while I was there. She has since tried them and on the plus side the handle is big enough for her to use very comfortably to do her pruning but she cannot close them shut after use. Apparently there is a small button on them that is meant to be pushed or pressed when the secateurs are closed, to keep them closed, but neither she or my uncle or neighbours have managed to get it to work!! No idea if this means they are broken or if they are doing something wrong or if the button is just too stiff for arthritic hands to push/press and as I cannot get to visit her for awhile, it will be too late to return them, hence 4 stars.
