I really like this cards as they are bigger and stronger than other I had before but I was hoping for card wallet or something to put them all together to make it easier to play with my son when I travel. Anything would do even ring to hold it together would be nice. But still nice cards.
Got this for my 4 year old son and he love to do this flash cards with me. Great to take on the trip and do it while travel. The cards are good quality, arrived in a box so very easy can go to your bag with you.
Highly recommended
These are a great set.of flash cards brilliant for learning. Clear big words on a coloured back ground text really stands out.
I got these to try and encourage my son to talk however he just likes to throw them round on the floor but we will keep trying haha
The flashcards are a good size for little hands and very sturdy. The images being actual photographs of the animals is unusual but a big positive for me. I did find some of the colour coding choices a bit odd but I like the idea of toddlers being able to sort them into categories.
A great way to help children develop their reading skills and their vocabulary. These flashcards come in a nice storage box and there are 500 words to learn and practise. They’re colourful with a large font that xan be easily read. Flash cards are a great way to encourage our minds to learn and remember and can easily be turned into a fame so it will definitely do well for children learning.
For parents and instructors seeking for a fun and interesting approach to teach children sight words, the Skillmatics Flash Cards for 500 Sight Words are a great resource. The cards are packaged in a durable box and consist of five decks, each containing 50 cards, that cover grades PK–3 and both the Dolch and Fry word lists.
I adore the range of activities and exercises offered in the instruction booklet for these flash cards. They may be altered for both single-player and multiplayer activities, and they provide a fantastic opportunity to raise the challenge and interest as a child’s talents develop. The associated reading charts are a useful tool for monitoring progress as well.
The cards are of excellent quality and have a bright surface that makes them sturdy and convenient to handle. Each card’s word is printed in a wide, readable font that is ideal for younger children who are just beginning to learn sight words.
The tiny font in the card’s corner can be distracting and possibly confusing for kids, which is the only drawback I could find. By holding the card in a specific way or instructing the youngster to concentrate on the key word, this can be easily prevented.
The Skillmatics Flash Cards for 500 Sight Words, in my opinion, are a fantastic investment for any parent or teacher wishing to teach children sight words in a fun and interesting method.
These flash cards are an amazing learning tool for me to use with my little boy. This set is filled with lots of different cards so plenty for him to learn. He’s only 3.5 years old but shows a big interest in words so I wanted to get him started now.
I like how the cards are brightly coloured and the words are written in a nice large sized text.
I got these to teach my daughter main English sight words and they’ve worked great so far. The cards are well-made and durable with clear printing that is easy to read and the colors keep her engaged, and eager to read the next word.
Overall, great product and I love that there are 5 different levels, so she can work on one set at a time as to not overwhelm her. She’s able to work independently if needed but her sister also enjoy quizzing her.
This is a lovely card set which is designed to help little ones recognise words with pictures and help them learn to say each word too, does strengthen their reading skills.
Product has a good quality, Decent size, quite easy for little hands to handle. We have had lots of fun together, would recommend.
There is just so much to love about these. The sheer amount of educational activities you can do with them is incredible. There are so many cards too that you can change and adapt things to suit the educational level and the activity.
100% recommended for a home activity, or school activity as it has so many benefits with it.
At first I was a bit worried this would be a little American as it says pre k to 3rd grade but I don’t think I seen any “American” words or spelling in them which I was pleased about. I am a believer of phonics being the best way to learn to read too but I also feel that learning some sight words are good too. This is a really good complete set with different stages for different ages. First one being good for around age 4-5 and then moving up when your child is ready. Really happy with the set and it’s very well presented
These word flash cards are great for early development as your child is learning words but also aids further into more complex words. The cards come separated into boxes separated by the year to use them in. The card stock is decent and the cards are a nice big size, easy to read and hold. Each card is double sided, having 2 words and the answer on the opposite end for the parent to easily know the answer. Comes in a nice storage box to keep them all in. The word list is based on both Dolch & Fry word’s lists so contains a lot of the core words your child will need for their development and one that they will use a lot.
Love these cards for practising reading, spelling and comprehension at home. The cards are split into groups according to suggested age range but by American school grades, so slightly confusing.
I’d say that the youngest set is suitable for most reception aged children in the UK unless you have an early reader, the next couple of sets for Year 1, then Year 2 for the more advanced cards.
There are some game suggestions included with the cards, like asking your child to make a sentence with each word or playing matching games with the cards. A reading chart is also included.
Really nice quality kit which packs away neatly into its own little box with a magnetic closure lid so you don’t have cards floating around everywhere getting mixed up. My 5 year old in Year 1 is really enjoying using these, especially when we’ve used them to practise the sounds and phonics she is concentrating on in school that week. I would definitely recommend them as a home learning aid.
I tried Flash Cards for my son, who is in Kindergarten and has been having a lot of trouble with sight words. I was impressed by the quality and features of the product. My son loved it, and it helped him to stay on track. The games on the side are also great. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs help with their children’s sight words.
These are the best flash cards I have found for my kids. The images are colorful and engaging, the words are well-defined, and the games are fun. The prices are also great. I love that my kids learn sight words in a fun, interactive way that never gets old.
This is a must-have for any homeschooler. I love that it has a list of words, with definitions and examples, that are perfect for helping my kids learn the basics of reading. I also love that it comes with games to play and a fun way to review those words. I don’t need to spend a fortune on the latest and greatest flash cards. This is a simple, affordable, and well-designed way to help my kids review their sight words.
It is great for kids. My kids enjoy to read and say and write. Its suitable for ages 5 – 9 years old I would say. Flash card got 2 words on double sided. It is good and hard quality. Good for develop skills for reading and memory and communication. Very nice storage box and very organisation. Very colourful flash cards.
I got this for my 4year old son, he’s going to be in primary school this year and so I’ve thought of maybe trying to learn new things to prepare him there. These 500 sight word cards are helpful it has specific words and vocabulary wise that he could learn especially in expressing his feelings or what to share things he wants to say. Cards are just simple which is handy not for a child to be distracted by colours or any other designs. The way how instructions on the leaflets also make sense for a child’s learning development. I think the price though a bit expensive for me is worth the price.
I was really pleased with these flash cards. I bought them for my daughter, she is almost 2 years old. she hasnt been able to rip them yet which is good and the pictures are nice and clear for her.
My wife is a teacher and uses these at school and home with the children. She likes that the word is printed large on the front to show the child and it is small on the back so you can check them without having to turn the card and look at it. She did say some of the cards are decodable so she wouldn’t use them as sight vocab to learn off by heart. Jump for example can be sounded out so doesn’t need to be remembered. However, there are lots of useful tricky words that children need to know off by heart.
This set of flash cards comes in a nice strong flip-top storage box with a section for each of the five decks of cards (Grades PK — 3). Each deck has 50 cards with a total of 100 words. Also included is a set of reading charts that can be stuck up on a suitable wall, and a comprehensive instruction leaflet.
The instruction leaflet details six different exercises that can be undertaken with a child. These increase and maintain the challenge and interest as a child’s abilities develop. All six exercises are also suitable for single and multiplayer activities, so are great if you have more than one child that you would like to involve in a session.
The set is intended for children aged between 4 and 9 but I see no reason why a child could not be introduced to the PK set at a slightly younger age nor why the cards could not continue to be used with the more complex exercises beyond the upper age recommended.
The cards are made of good quality, shiny cardboard so should last some time. Each card is printed on both sides with one word in large font in the centre and another in much smaller font in the top right hand corner. Initially I was unsure why this was and could find no explanation on the box or in the instruction booklet. Then I realised that it was to tell the person holding up the card what the word on the other side was, so that they could know whether the child had got it correct without turning it over.
I am in two minds as to the value of this, as potentially a child could be confused should he/she see two words in front of them. This situation can be avoided by picking up the cards with your left hand and therefore obscuring the smaller word on the other side with your fingers or asking the child what the big word that they see is.
I noticed that the box and instructions refer to K-12/US educational grades, so was slightly concerned that they might feature some American spellings and/or words. However, having checked through, all the words featured are commonly used in the UK and all are spelt as they are in the UK.
Twenty-five pounds for a set of cards may seem quite expensive but looks to be broadly in line with what specialist educational materials cost nowadays.
Thank you for reading my review. I hope that you found it useful.
Product detail:
~ ‘The Flash Cards include more than 80% of the words found in children’s books and all the words from the Dolch and Fry word lists.’
The words are all UK spelling.
The best way of ‘learning to read’ is something that worries most in my circles and no one method will suit all.
Although not applicable to the UK system in terms of the ‘Grade’ terminology, this is nevertheless a handy set of 5 x decks of 50 double-sided cards that I use in conjunction with regular black on white cards of similar size. Some like to stick to the familiar look & feel of the latter but the majority like the clearly printed WHITE words on coloured backgrounds, the main one, a good size. There is a random smaller sized word to the top right of each card; both words change size on the reverse.
Along with the 5 decks of cards, is a set of double-sided ‘READING CHARTS’, one for each colour + a GAMES booklet, with some interesting ideas.
With the complete list of words (alphabetic) on the back of the box (images below refer), each different coloured deck has 50 shiny finish cards each measuring just short of 11 cm x 7 cm, with rounded corners. The background colour is lightly dappled in shade, adding some interest without detracting, in my experience so far. It would be better if there was a red, rather than 2 shades of orange, IMO.
The only other grumble I have is opening the individual cardboard boxes in the first instance. Like a regular deck of playing cards, it is tricky to get the top flap out without damage, and although this eases with use, they soon look a bit scruffy!
The set comes presented in a sturdy cardboard storage box, measuring around 20 cm x 12.5 cm x 8 cm, with 5 sturdy slots for the card decks to fit into, inside. Sadly, the reading charts are in a paper envelope that is stuck onto the lid inside, which took a chunk of the lining off on removal, also in my experience.
Patience may avoid this!

This is one of the most complete flashcard sets! I enjoy loads. The cards are high quality and the colours are nice and bright.
The set includes pretty much everything that you can think of and it is well organised and structured
This is a great tool for helping to learn to read, I like how the word is also on the back in smaller letters so you can hold it up and get the child to read it, whilst also having the word on your side so you don’t have to look at it first. It’s a simple concept but really handy. The lack of pictures also means the child has to read the word, rather than just identifying the picture.
Great product but not durable if intended for younger children, at least 3 year olds just because will not gold rough handle and play. The material is easily bendable leaving cracs and marks as well as not suitable for use anywhere near liquids. Easy to break down. Aside from that nice storage box, clear pictures and appropriate size.
These flash cards are so great, they have lovely pictures, easy to use and wonderful colours too. I love that fact that they are thicker than other flash cards I have bought in the past, better durability. My kids love them
Good for all sorts of games you can play about animals with your little one. Sorting, animal naming, animal description, animal guessing it all depends on the kids age and how many ideas you have. Being double sided makes it hard to play like a memory game but my two year old likes to play with them “show me the” so for when she’ll grow we’ll make it harder.
Good quality cardboard and the images are nice and represent the animal as they look in really so not a painted or drawn image.
Bought as a gift which was loved by the toddlers parents. It’s a fun and colourful introduction to the animal kingdom; and will keep the young ones entertained for minutes at a time.. which is light years’ in toddler terms.
The package came well packaged and I would definitely buy this again. Recommend!
