Bought for my partner who has narrow ear canals. I asked how she’s got on with the buds after using them for a while and the 5 stars are her rating.
She’s very happy with them on all counts.
Sound quality is good, battery is great, nice and light so they don’t tend to fall out easily – I ride my foldable bike over cobbles with them in and they don’t fall out. I would say the noise cancellation is just OK – generally works but not awe-inspiring, but at this price point I’d say these are absolutely fantastic.
Bought these about a year ago and didn’t plan on writing a review but I had to come back and write a review about these earphones, I dropped one of them in a glass of water about 3 weeks ago, fished them out immedietely and was fully expecting them to be broken, low and behold they still work perfectly which amazed me. The sound quality is good and the cancellation works very well, not total silence but damn near close to it. I would highly recommend these earphones.
I lost my AirPods Pro and was on the hunt for a replacement. I didn’t feel AirPods were worth the 200+ price, so I was open to other brands. After reading through reviews, I saw that these earbuds kept getting recommended, so I thought I would buy them. I wasn’t disappointed, and I’m pleased with my decision. The sound quality and functions are on point and they look great.
Depending on what you are looking for in this field and prioritise but these are very much comparable with other options nearly twice the price! If you are looking for straight up sound quality for music then these are a bargain! The bass is excellent, clear and tuneful. The mids and vocals are very, very good and convey with clarity as do the highs which are crisp and clean. The app is probably one of the best if not the best for tuning your sound. I haven’t tried any calls as of yet but that is not a priority for me personally. I am sure they would be just fine.
The case does have a plasticky feel to it. It doesn’t give the greatest impression of strength or solidity like most do over 200 but it is perfectly acceptable at this price point especially given the sound quality, these really are good fun to listen to!
I would suggest a protective silicon case for those whom may be prone to dropping things. The magnetic closure of the case is sound as is the overall shape and size.
Battery life is phenomenal.
So in short, job well done Sony and well worth the asking price!
After having tried some cheaper options, always found myself somewhat disappointed.
I’ve always liked the Sony brand so wanted to give these a go.
Still great value but what a step up in quality and the noise cancelling works really well!
Would highly recommend
Bought these because I’m tired of wires everywhere round my neck. Arrived charged and ready to go. Soon set up using Sony app on my android phone. Sound is excellent with a good range and noise reduction is as good as one can hope for, remembering it only works with repetitive noise. I haven’t used the make and receive calls utility, so I’m unable to comment on that. Charging box is small and neat and the earbuds clip in magnetically. 3 different sizes of ear fittings offers some flexibility to suit different ear sizes. Very pleased with purchase.
I paid 70 for these Sony WF C700N headphones on Amazon as I wanted a pair of in-ears I could fall asleep listening to at night.
I amazed at their sound quality for the money. It is detailed and spacious. The bass is rich but not overblown (unless that’s what you want) and can be adjusted to taste to suit all types of music. The higher frequencies are sweet and detailed, not shrill and harsh. These in ears sound equally good listening to modern jazz, rock, metal and orchestral film music (yes I listen to all of these regularly).
The app works well and contains useful features. I find the noise suppression is very effective (provided the correct size of ear buds are used – Sony provide three sizes). I like being able to tune them to keep dialogue but remove other background noise.
These in-ears are light and comfortable so I hardly notice wearing them and they don’t fall out.
Battery life appears to be perfectly adequate in the one week I’ve owned them.
How could they be improved? Wireless charging would be nice but probably not realistic at their regular selling price, without a trade off somewhere else.
How do they compare to my B&Ws which I really like? The Sony’s sound more balanced across the frequency spectrum which is definitely not a bad thing – more a matter of taste. Because they are small and light I find myself listening to them more often. The B&Ws can only be listened to seated.
If I had a choice of which to buy new today I would opt for the Sonys, no question about it. Fantastic sound/value!
I would like to compare the 700Ns with Sony’s WF-1000XM5 to see if they are really that much better. I doubt they can beat the 700Ns for VFM.
The only issue is the app which is the app, not fussed on the eq presets.
You’ll love the buds though, really punchy bass.
I took the sicone buds off them and bought a brand called “Sonicfoam” they’re brilliant what a difference in sound. They brought out the best in these earphones, stop them coming loose, found medium size best for men.
Overall great buying experience and supurb sound quality. Hope this helps you.
That’s the gripe out of the way.
The sound quality and the fit in the ear are both great.
So a decent product but don’t buy for the NC.
Pros
Comfortable and sit snuggly in my ear.
Sound quality is very good, especially when combined with the app.
The control buttons on the side of the buds are easy to use and give an audible click when pressed.
The noise cancelling is better than I would expect from ear buds. The ambient sound controller in the app is a good touch.
Cons
Connecting to the ear buds can take some time. I have had one or two instances of it flat out refusing to connect. Easily remedied by returning the bids to the case and taking them out again.
Tldr: Some difficulty with initial setup but after that very enjoyable experience so far.
I have owned them about 4 months, the audio quality is certainly better than the original Linkbuds but not nearly as good as the (much more expensive) Linkbuds S, the ANC is not very good at all, doesn’t block much of anything maybe 40% quieter than? It’s difficult to put a figure to it, audio books sound fine, music sounds fine for the lost part, mid bass is a little ill-defined, higher frequency stuff is fizzy, I listen to a lot of music at both ends of the musical spectrum, Carcass and Napalm Death sound OK, Peter Gabriel and James Taylor sounds passable but not hifi that’s for sure, if you just listen to chart stuff and nothing with a well defined bottom end then you’ll probably like these, think I payed full retail price but I’ve seen them with up to 20% off so maybe hold off tolntheor on sale, if I’d have payed 45 – 50 for these them my review would be different.
I’ve had plenty of Sony headphones over the years and they almost never set the world on fire but are usually pretty good value for money, if these last at least 2 years then I’ll consider them to be just that.
I previously had two sets of Headphones the top of the range Sony WH 1000x which I use for air flights and a pair of B&O Beoplay E8s. I lost one of the latter earpieces fell out while on a train the replacement right ear plug was 110. Recently the left ear peace has been crackly and annoying. So rather than pay another 110 I bought the Sony WF C700Ns for 70 something They are much better than the B&O ones and they are also Noise Cancelling the B&Os were not. So very impressed and they feel more secure in my ears.
I’ve never had wireless ear buds before so don’t have anything to compare them with.
Sound is decent but not “blow your mind”. The fit is good with a range of tip sizes.
These come with noise cancelling & ambient surround/awareness modes which are OK but I’m not sure they make it worth upgrading from the cheaper 500’s
I think you tend to get what you pay for from Sony. Don’t let that put you off though…these do sound great, just not as impressive noise cancelling (still good though).
High hats are a bit hissy, and bass with the included tips was not fantastic. But my seal wasn’t great with the included silicon tips.
The foam tip manufacturers aren’t recommending a tip to use with these yet. I checked with Comply. But . The supplied tips are the same as those supplied with the WF-C500 bud. So if you can find one that is compatible with those it’s worth a go.
The SonicFoam SF2 model available on here do that. I was using the large silicon tips but Medium SF2 tips are about the same width. And the seal and comfort is much improved by them. As a result I had to turn off “Excited” mode on the EQ and go back to flat response. 13 and change for ten pairs is a decent value improvement to sound and comfort. No risk too as you receive a card inside from Amy at SonicFoam advising you to get in touch if the size you buy isn’t right for you.
Bottom line, at 76ish plus 1.30 a month for a fresh pair of foam tips, these were a bargain.
Overall would recommend but I suppose I’ll have to shell out a lot more to get really good bass.
Have worn these on a run where i tend to get sweaty and they didn’t even threaten to fall out once.
The only small issue i have is that its very easy to press the pause/stop button when either putting in/ adjusting or removing the devices.
Sound so far has been good, and still early days for me learning the full functionality but it appears you can get a better sound with an additional paid app. So if I have to pay more to get full sound benefit, then I have to give this a negative, but overall I am pleased with them.
