I wanted good long handled tools for my husband, in order for him to be able to enjoy gardening in his wheelchair. This is perfect for him he loves it. Great quality as well.
Too early to know just how good this will be, but initial impressions are good, comfortable handle and length, does the job well. Will see just how it stands up to the rigors of use after a year or so…….hope it’s good, looks ok at the moment tho’!
Ideal and just what I needed as I have issues bending. These are good sturdy forks and trowels by Spear and Jackson with a 10 year guarantee. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Getting on a bit, and with a stiff back…I just hadn’t appreciated how much difference the longer handle and increases leverage makes to ease of use. Recommended for all other old so and so’s like myself!
It would be 5 stars if the ferrule was secured with a rivet rather than being crimped on. Otherwise it’s fine although the cutting edge does need honing to tackle my soil.
Seems well made.
Cannot recommend this trowel! Only used a few times and it snapped! Very disappointed as I thought Spear and Jackson were a good make. I’ve tried twice to contact Spear and Jackson but have had no reply from them. Very poor quality and customer service.
Very strong and nice looking garden fork, which I use to weed the garden, great I can do it from a sitting position because of the longer handle. I was disappointed to find one of those awful sticky bar code labels which can be difficult to remove and leave a residual stickiness. There was also one on the equivalent trowel which I also ordered.
I love this product now I’m getting on and can’t bend so much ! Makes it very easy if you have arthritis too . Sturdy , well made , usual high standard from Spear and Jackson at a very reasonable price for a tool that will last .
I am happy enough with the item I bought ! I did not use it so much so far, but a few times I used it I am happy. Thank you!
This is such a well-made and useful trowel that I find I tend to use it now in preference to my others. Strong, great reach, good for using with two hands when digging larger holes, and a support to lean on as I get up from kneeling!
As I have to sit to do much of my gardening, this trowel is just the right length. It eliminates the need for bending which I can’t do with my painful back. I just wish I had known about it before. Very happy.
If you have looked at these and thought they were no different than the shorter one’s. Then think again. The longer handle makes all the difference in many ways. I got mine a few months back and when i go out planting it is with me and i would not be without it.
Bought the trowel, cultivator, and fork in this long handled version, hoping that the extra length would
alleviate back ache ,which I am prone to,whilst gardening.
They have helped a lot in this respect.
As always with Speer and Jackson tools they are well made long lasting, and durable.
The chrome steel is good quality, and there are no specks of rust, after fairly extensive use,and being
kept in a shed outside over this Winter.
Good value for money.
Made of stainless steel, with a wood handle, this 12″ trowel is strong, easy to hold and light to use, despite its strength.
I bought it along with the similar cultivator and weed fork, they’re absolutely perfect for working raised beds and borders.
Spear & Jackson have a very good reputation, and this item has been very well made and has a ten year guarantee, Cleans off really easily and hangs up out of the way with its integral tag.
Spear & Jackson’s good reputation is maintained by this quality tool. Well made, comfortable handle, good reach. It is not possible at this early stage to comment on its durability, but first appearances indicate that it will be a tool in our garden for many years to come. My only criticism is not with the tool but with Amazon’s packaging. I ordered this trowel and the companion hand fork at the same time – they arrived in separate large boxes with far more packaging than was necessary.
