Bought this product for my daughter and her new house. I’m surprised at the rating which she has been using it. It’s amazing when kids leave home what they can actually do. The product is robust and the handle comfortable.
Delivered next day prime service. Bought this with means get out and tackle deep weeds, good durability and top quality, only thing actually if heavy pressure will flex it, well made in practical way, handy little tool. Fairly priced.
I bought this as a recommendation from a friend, it is a brilliant tool. Used it in a bed with a lot of stones and no damage at all, really great for getting out the deep seated weeds as well.
My friend recommended me to get this as I kept moaning about weeds. Its great a useful little tool. Can bend under heavy pressure (was trying to get a bamboo weed) I’ll be buying another when I need i
This is a pretty sturdy tool to use. I like it. But as I have artificial grass it’s hard to get to the weed root. I just ended up pulling them up with my hands. Still use it for my pots which it’s good with.
Just bought a second one of these so that I have one to hand in both the front and rear garden. Last one is years old, has been abused and left in the rain, still solid. Thick sturdy metal and high quality wooden handle.
Works fine, like others have said just put a bit of wood, screwdriver handle or anything handy underneath so it pivots on it to allow the prongs to move a greater distance so it pulls daisy all the way out. After rain is good when the soil is softer. I use it on dandelions as well, sometimes get the whole root but it doesn’t matter if it grows up again I just pull it out again.
Owned several of these they’re excellent little tool for getting out this pesky weeds.
My problem is with the colour.. they don’t stand out when you pop them in the bin my mistake…. lost a couple of them that way… but then maybe it’s intentional by the manufacturers…. redundancy factor…
I’m not the most enthusiastic gardner, but a weedy lawn is an ugly lawn. This tool takes a few efforts to get the technique right, but its very effective in weed removal. Try to cut the root as deep as you can without leaving holes in your lawn. Any soil left on the root, rub off with your fingers and put it back in the hole, then flatten with your foot. This tool can deal with weeds, large or small.
I dont know why it amuses me, but the technical name for this tool is a ‘Grubber’… I’d never heard that name before…
I bought this to use mainly on the lawn to get rid of a multitude of weeds manually. I was using a screwdriver but this is much better. For the price it’s a no brained.
Nearly spent a lot more on a more expensive tool after reading some reviews. The tool isn’t flimsy. I’ve just pulled a bin bag of poa roots out of my lawn with it. As long as you’re not using it as a crow bar it’s fine.
Easy to use but not sure I was still able to pull the whole root out. I had root breakage in most cases so my weeds may still grown back. Certainly better than hand pulling and made the job quicker and more enjoyable. Certain bit of satisfaction when the whole root comes out.
Perfect for getting dandelions, thistles etc out of lawn. There is a bit of a knack to it in terms of exactly how far from the plant to dig in and at what angle. But within under half an hour I was getting it right every time. Push in at about 45 to 60 degrees, about 1 inch from the plant. Then push back to lift the weed, but not so hard that you tear out the turf. Listen for the sound of the main root snapping off, its a distinct, deeper snapping sound that is different to grass roots tearing. Then you can stop pushing! Take out the tool and pop out the weed without ripping out a chunk of the turf. So you end up with minimal damage and the next day its barely even noticeable that you were working there.
I am REPLACING all my small garden tools with Spear & Jackson ones.
Having the RIGHT tools can make the dreaded garden tasks so much easier….
I have bought this Daisy Grubber and the three pronged fork, by Spear & Jackson. For me, I am finding them “unbendable”. They are just SO strong, and you can see the materials used in their construction is top class. LOVE the dark copper coloured prongs and light coloured handles…they look so stylish (well, I am a lady….lol).
The sheer quality and strength of Spear & Jackson tools far surpass all my old small garden tools, so I am gradually replacing all my old ones with S&J beauties.
Cannot fault the robustness, design, and comfort of hold of these tools. All bought so far are such a pleasure to use, and I look forward to the less favourable garden tasks such as weeding and tidying of borders, etc., (yeah, sad, I know), using these superb tools.
100 per cent recommended. I will now continue gathering my Spear & Jackson gardening tools collection and have just now ordered the Telescopic Garden Shears AND the 6 in 1 Sharpener, so I’m waiting for those to arrive.
