Well it only arrived yesterday, I have only used it once so difficult to say this soon.but what I can say it seems very good, well built and good quality, at the moment I’m very pleased with it.
I was delighted with the sprayer….. the only thing I found difficult wS attaching the carry strap to the container. I have arthritis in my hands and fingers therefore had to ask my neighbour for help.
I bought this to replace a diy store branded version that was a waste of money, and this is excellent.
Perfect for for small areas or where you only need 8 litres. 25 to 30 pumps and the pressure holds for a very long time.
Wand and spray nozzle are plastic but made very well. Used it 4 times in a few weeks and no issues so far.
I bought this to use with car cleaning solutions. Currently it’s filled with citrus pre wash. It’s easy to use and has a surprisingly powerful spray when it’s got good pressure. At the same time I bought a much cheaper one to compare, and I have to say this is worth the extra!
It’s clearly better quality, bigger, holds more pressure and pumps up smoother too.
I’ve used this over a few weekends and it’s holding up well so far, can’t see why it won’t last a decent amount of time either.
Just as sturdy as more expensive brands. Bought to replace Qualcast Pro model which somehow blew a hole due to a weakness in the tank plastic. Buy three of these or one Qualcast? Seems like a no- brainer to me.
Does what it says for the price but some improvements could be made, ie: the bottle could have a handle built in for easy handling as the pump handle is very weak, where the hoses enter the bottle and hand wand the the hose is so soft it kinks under it’s own weight shutting off the flow, A simple spring to support it inside would solve the problem.
The product is as advertised. Only downside is that the pump action is a bit flimsy.
A pity that Amazon do not state clearly where it is manufactured. Furthermore, when it was delivered it said that it was handed to a resident, whilst in fact it was left in the porch.
I love it. I’m a window cleaner. I bought the 8l version.
The standard kit is great. Make sure you put the seal on the threaded exit from the tank to the lance. Keep it safe. Without it, the unit loses pressure/air.
I wanted to get a cheap foamer to allow greater dwell time or contact time of the chemicals I use. I therefore modified the internal dispensing tube and experimented a touch to add pressurised air to the uPVC cleaner and water mix. To do that I found about 2 pin size holes sufficient in the internal clear pipe above the waterline. Then I put a small length 1.5 inches long of pipe cleaner about inside the lance also had success with stainless steel wool from a scrubbing pad. More length to create finer foam. Stainless wool first then the pipe cleaner. Experiment…
I used a presta air valve, as cheaper than a schrader valve, to allow me to add air pressure from a compressor. The safety valve activates on mine at around 33psi. I use it at 25 psi generally. I love not pumping to spraying as much. Leave space for the compressed air in the bottle to get greater spray time. 1/2 full is the sweet spot for me.
I got a cheap, circa 26, digital bicycle rechargeable battery pump to give me pressure on the move. I do work on residential properties and find it a good compromise to speed up a pvc clean.
An ionics constant flow unit is currently 450. My setup I estimate cost me around 60 quid tops. I already have a cleaning warehouse chemical dispenser with 1/4 bsp 110 deg sprayer jet as a future upgrade planned but I love spraying with 2 no 50 deg fan jets and instantly agitating the chemical and dirt with my flocked Gardiner brush.
Great with degreaser on eggs.
Tip, if using with a pole setup use rectus 21 connections to allow moving easily between pole and lance. 5mm ID. If making a foamer try get the mixer aka stainless steel wire (or wire pipe cleaner) as close as possible to the standard non foaming nozzle delivery point. It helps to move the cleaner and water unmixed up the hose before mixing and delivering foam in my experiments.
I did write a previous review for this describing it as ‘less than good’! It transpires that the red ‘nozzle’ on the end was missing. When i realised this after researching, i contacted the seller via Amazon and they sent me a replacement wand complete with red nozzle.. It now works perfectly! I used it to do quite a large area and the 8 litre sprayer really does save time as you’re not constantly refilling the smaller ones. The carrying handle clips neatly into the body of the sprayer after pumping and away you go. The service from the seller when i informed them the red nozzle was missing was excellent, they responded positively and sent my replacement immediately. Thank you
I bought this to use with weedkiller and it’s far more effective than using a spray bottle. You have a much better stream and control over spray, and once it’s fully pressured it lasts for a decent time. My only gripe is with the strap which isn’t very efficient and just gets in the way.
Easy to assemble, instructions on the box. I bought this to spray mould/moss around garden fence and decking. Worked quite well and you can adjust from fine spray to more pressured single flow which is useful for different areas. It’s also got a shoulder strap so it’s easy to transport around. Be careful to use the release valve on the side to open it when you’ve finished and not the screw top as it’s still holding a lot of pressure.
If like me you like a good hand car wash this is ideal for a first rince before the wash and a final rinse. I’ll be using it to wash down my cars/bikes. First impressions are good. Slightly over priced but worth it given that the quality exceeds that of others I’ve tried before. Preassure is good, easy to carry due to strap and above all no leaks so far all in all a good buy
I’ve read a lot of the negative revues and to be truthful, was a little bit wary. Spear and Jackson have always been good, and it seemed the best of the bunch, so I went for it.
All in all, it works great. Arrived well on time. Sturdy and strong enough for the job its meant to do, and certainly have not had a problem with leaks or such. Providing you don’t over tighten things, and don’t pump it till you can’t move the plunger anymore (about 12 pumps on a half full tank gave adequate pressure), it should be fine. I use a smear of vaseline on all the seals, and haven’t had a problem.
I am only using water through it. I didnt buy it to use chemicals with, but, providing they are water based and totally liquid ( unlike some fence paints ) I can’t see there being a problem.
Bought the Spear & Jackson sprayer after another cheaper model from a different company, also an 8-litre version, failed when it wouldn’t hold pressure anymore and kept leaking from the top. Easy to assemble, just connect the lance. The top is easy and smooth to unscrew to refill. And to pump up the pressure is smooth and easy. The sprayer can go from full jet to spray and mist modes by twisting the end of the lance. And under full pressure can send the water jet around 15 feet. With the optional double-length lance that’s available for suppliers, this range can be extended to around 20+ feet. Another good point is that the O-rings for the pressure unit are available as replacement spares from suppliers, also. Very easy to adjust to spray larger plants and also tender plants that are still in their pots before planting them on. The lance button that controls the water flow can be set to be always on and makes long term use more comfortable.
