Tried the product upon arrival. The telescopic arms together with effective cutting makes pruning easy. The opening of the telescopic feature is also easy, but must be closed after extension to lock the arms in the extended or short length.

These are robust loppers that, with their ratchet, can cut through fairly thick branches. Good points are that the blades are sharp and that the loppers have extending handles which provide extra reach. The extending handles, however, don’t always stay in place (the old twist grip ones were slightly better), and that can make the loppers awkward or heavy to use if cutting back a lot of wood. But they are very useful for those thick branches just out of reach.

These are excellent value.Build quality excellent, sharpness, what more do you want.Note:these are ok for upto about 35mm thick. Also use the extension arms only for ease of reach not to make cutting easier. But the arms are plenty long enough without extending.

I bought these with high hopes for trimming some stubborn hedges in my garden and was very pleased. They mostly do a great job and are able to cut through some sizably chunky branches.

The only slight drawback is that they are quite heavy so a little awkward to manoeuvre at times. It also means I can’t use them for too long without needing a break.

Great bit of kit but perhaps not for you if you’re older or have mobility issues.

Quick delivery. Reasonable price for what they are. I’m no engineer but the quality of this seems to be very good indeed. They work very well and the telescopic handles are a great extra. This item has made managing my garden much much more easier. I am 66 and knackered and these help me easily do things that I would struggle with.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese were brought to prune our rose bushes down, and they defiantly do the job. As I suffer from arthritis in the hands and shoulders using secateurs was getting harder to do so brought these to do the work, easy to hold, and easy to get right into the bushes. super sharp blade that cut like a knife through butter. The only thing I don’t like is the extending handles as they feel flimsy to me, but as yet i have not used the extended handles.

I don’t write many reviews but have just received these loppers and couldn’t wait to write this.

I have a very overgrown garden with lots of tree branches to cut. My old loppers were the twin cutting blade style and green branches wouldn’t cut clean as they got stuck between the blades. I decided to upgrade and finally picked these based on features and price. They are anvil style where it will cut with one snio on small branches but as you lop bigger branched a rachet slips into the next notch and you take a second cut with a mechanical advantage and if this hasn’t cut the branch it slips into a third notch with even more mechanical advantage which makes it much easier to cut the branches. They have telescope handles to reach difficult to reach branches and finally they only have thd blade on one side and the other is a resetted face to hold the branch better but more importantly there is no separation that tears the branches on twin blades.

I’ve cut a fee branches upto around 1″ and I’m over the moon just how good these are and I knows it’s early days but these get 10/10 and I can unreservedly recommend these to conside

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersAs someone who does a lot of hedge work, I needed some loppers that were robust and weren’t going to let me down. They arrived and I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy they were. The handles are also extendable giving you much more reach when trimming. The blade is also super sharp and makes cutting a breeze. The ratchet system on it is also brilliant. If you’re cutting a thicker branch, you can ratchet the handles open and shut to create more leverage which makes cutting a lot easier. They are on the heavier side which, if you’re someone like me who wants that robustness and can handle the extra weight, I highly recommend them. If you’re maybe a bit older and have to do work higher up where you’re holding them for a sustained period, maybe go for something lighter. For 24 I highly recommend them as they’re Spear & Jackson so you’re getting quality for the price of some own brand versions from popular hardware shops.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robust and sharp!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThese are brilliant!!! They cut so well. The telescopic arms give it a very long reach for those high branches. Can easily cut up to an inch thick. Gave four stars because I used them for about an hour and my arms started to ache as they are not too lightweight. I’m a 49 year old man. I think someone more elderly might struggle using these for long periods.

They are to all intents and purposes identical to my old loppers and as such i expect to get the same length of service from them (10+ years). The one improvement they have made is to the spring which actuates the ratchet it’s now far more accessible to replace when it goes twang. The only criticism is that they don’t supply a spare spring with the loppers as some other suppliers do. Anyway they do a good job when used correctly. It’s not a good idea to try to cut through difficult hardwood branches with the arms fully extended even these aren’t made to survive abuse like that.

The action is good. Not sure how long they will last given the arms are made of Aluminium and not steel. It means that they’re light weight but doubt they will have a long life. Helped me wage war on the most stubborn ivy so they’ve paid for themselves already. Would be nice to keep them alive but doubt they’ll outlive me.

So glad I purchased this item makes the job so much easier they cut through even the large branches like butter, they are worth every penny would highly recommend them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this for a challenging to reach hedge that is on edge of river. Has a long extension (oooooh matron) and super sharp and easy to use ratchet cutting action.

Highly recommend and would buy another one should this end up in the Thames as my last one did when I fell off a ladder whilst trimming the hedge and got saved by the ‘arms’ of the thick part of the hedge but sadly my cutters sank to the bottom of the water.

These have replaced two other loppers I own. One pair didn’t open up wide enough. The second pair had to have the handles open so wide in order to get the blades open, it wasn’t possible to get into the centre of a bush to thin out old branches.

They are fantastic shears. We now have 2 pairs so that my wife and I don’t fight over them. They easily cut up to 5cm and a bit above. Telescopic feature very useful when pruning and have remained sharp for months. Must admit we left a pair outside in the rain by accident for a week…no rust and still perfect. Will be buying a couple for friends as gifts

I am extremely happy with the product. It can cut through 1-2 inches of small branches effortlessly. I haven’t tried thicker branches yet. It is very very sharp, I am glad I bought it. Hope this helps you.

These are amazing, slicing through branches with next to no effort.
I actually tried mine on a broom handle, not really expecting to succeed, and had snipped it within seconds – cutting with a saw took a couple of minutes in comparison.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese loppers are well made but they are anything but lightweight, they are cumbersome and awkward to use, due to the weight of them, I am elderly but very strong due to lifting heavy stones in the garden but these loppers will be gathering dust for lack of use as far as I am concerned. Big disappointment!!

Needed to lop some branches off a tree in the garden. Had no clue what type of loppers I needed but read all the reviews and decided to go with these. They were on sale at the time too which was even better. They were so easy to use and to be honest, I did not measure the thickness of the branches, some possibly 2 inches but these went through them with no effort. Really happy with them.

These are a real bargain, but just don’t try to cut something too thick with the handles extended, they’re aluminium and will bend, like some have said. Just use your common sense. Otherwise, they’re great.

Yes Im like you all, I used on maybe thicker than I should have…but this item is brilliant…I have lopped an 40ft hawthorn hedge x 125 ft long, (using a saw also) but the smaller and up to 2″ and perhaps a little larger branches got it also….I treated mercilessly…and they did the job…maybe a bend or two in the first part of the handle and perhaps ..well, very probably need sharpening. but for the money im buying another…. Very pleased with quality..

I bought this looper 2 years ago. I use it frequently and I am really happy with it.
Unfortunately I managed to break the central bolt.
Does anyone know where I could find / buy a replacement bolt / nut ? I tried to find it on internet but so far without success. Thanks !

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI like to wait before I leave a review to give the product a good testing time. I have had these 2 years now and use them constantly. They are absolutely amazing and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Still as sharp as the day I bought them. Cut through large branches easily and I have really tested them to the limits . They have cut through extremely thick gorse bush branches. If anything every happened to them I would repurchase without question. Best garden buy to date.
