A great fridge, really not noisy. Ice compartment actually works. I wish I had one at uni but it’s a great little extra drinks and snacks fridge in another room. Would recommend if your are on the fence!
Being diabetic I tend to drink a lot of water and sugar free drinks. I have my insulin in there as well. I can’t fault it as its fantastic for what I need. I have it in a cupboard out of the way and it’s quiet as hell. Only drawback is that it could do with a light. But otherwise I can’t complain.
I ordered this fridge thinking it would be ideal for me and my kids however this is more of a single person fridge or a game room fridge for holding drinks and snacks. But ideal for the moment. The fridge itself is very light and very moveable the temperature settings are spot on. It looks great on the inside & outside and there is no noise from the back. I still give it 5 stars because to someone else this would be ideal. Excellent price aswell.
This fridge is perfect for cans of Coca-Cola etc.
I have mine in my enclosed porch for the milk when it’s delivered . So on hot days the milk isn’t left out in the heat .
Does exactly what I needed it to do
This fridge would have been perfect for our needs, however it arrived with a damaged door. The seller couldn’t have been more helpful. I returned the fridge straight away. Returning such a large item was very easy.
Two things leave fridge for twenty four hours to settle once delivered and make sure there is good space around the fridge when ready to use .. sound level very quiet and set just over four on the dial. Very happy with results all foods, milk, vegetables just right cold . Recommend
Had this for about a month now for my bedroom and wow it’s great. Quiet, roomy. Love the can rack. Space for two 1 litre bottles in the door. Gets cold enough for all food. I barely use the freezer part however, so would’ve preferred the extra space.
Was very pleased with the fridge we bought it for camping & does the job great! Was a little bit noisy when we first plugged it in at home after a while it stopped now you hardly know its on only used it once but so far its been a game change
Bought for an office environment and suited the purpose very well
This fridge is fine if only limited capacity needed. Seems to freeze efficiently. Perhaps the shelving within the inside door could have been better designed to enable more items to be stored compactly.
Looks good, the door is good for your cans of pop. The the chiller is good too.
Very compact lots of space
It is near silent apart from when the compressor starts up
Seems good quality but only time will tell
Needed a second fridge kept in the garage for cold beers, wine and party food. This fits the bill, robust, quiet, efficient cooling 100 litre model.
Pros: It has a proper cooling system just like a full-size fridge. It comes with an ice box for making ice cubes or storing small items in it. It’s handy to have a lockable fridge with some medicine. Not as loud as some people have suggested, I used to sleep with earplugs before I moved and had to share a room with the fridge and it’s not woken me once.
Cons: The bars on the doors don’t stay in the position you put them in but it’s a minor issue, nothing that can’t be sorted out.
This is a great little fridge with more room in it than you think.
The door will hold a four pint bottle of milk with ease.
There is plenty of extra room on the door for smaller items, soda cans etc.
The fridge compartment will hold a two litre bottle of cola laid flat with lots of room for other items.
There is also a small freezer compartment for keeping food frozen or for making ice cubes.
I bought this for my bedroom. A lot of reviews complain that it’s noisy but and keeps them awake. I think that it’s down to the individual. If you are a light sleeper then yes it could do when the thermostat starts up but it doesn’t bother me.
All in all a very good fridge.
Absolutely everything I wanted it to be, my husband’s not well with just coming out of hospital with pneumonia so I’m staying with him in our bedroom, and all we needed was a small fridge for tea water and milk, it’s a good size and we’ve even got our choccy biscuits in it, it saves me from running up and down stairs, it’s everything we expected and more! Love it, thanks
I have put this freezer in my utility on work top, fits perfectly,i use it mainly for drink cans and bottles beer and wine, this took uo too much room in my fridge in kitchen so a subcold fridge is the answer, I am very pleased with it, quiet and looks good, perfect thnks
Hot weather I needed a fridge to keep water cold in bedroom and can drinks brilliant size fits just about right noise from fridge is not too bad hums and sounds a bit like PC white noise soon got used to it ,I wanted to change door over but seems very tight bolts so not manger to do this yet ,have to ask son if he can do for me . very pleased so far with my purchase.
This was just the size I wanted and fits perfectly on the kitchen counter. Works well very little noise
The door was on the wrong way but managed to get a handyman to sort it ou
Very pleased with this fridge, it’s bigger than a mini-fridge but not as big as an under-counter fridge which was just what I wanted. This is just an ‘over-spill’ fridge for my garage and has ample room for my needs. It arrived by next day delivery, well packaged and in pristine condition. It remains to be seen how well it will cope with summers/winters in a garage but hopefully but all is good so far!
Good basic fridge reasonably priced, My only grumble is I am elderly and the temperature control is very difficult to see without standing on your head !!
Too early to give a definitive review, but first impressions are very good and it appears quite quiet.
I ordered this fridge as a birthday present for myself back on the 27th of March and opened it today. It’s giving off excellent first impressions. Contents get cold and the capacity is decent and seems that it could be enough for some items should there be a need to transport things in the main fridge into the mini fridge in case of having the main fridge freezer break down.
The only thing though is when I lifted the packaging to take the fridge out of its box, the fridge had arrived locked. A good few minutes it took me until I realised I could just pull the catch down enough to open the fridge up to gain access to the instruction manual and keys. However, it was initially delivered into a shed, before being transported into the kitchen by my mum who arrived home first, before I then moved the item into my room, giving me pain in my arms due to the heft and it slammed onto the floor harder than I would have liked it so that might have caused the issue. Slippery on its table but it’s better on there than on the floor. It’s box was dented up in transit so that could be the cause, though I think it was more user transportation error than anything else. It took a while to start working properly but given as the fridge was just plugged into its final spot, with the temporary spot being my room while I figured out it’s placement while it was boxed. Hopefully it could also be used if we buy a lot more cold items than usual. It’s great for cooling down drinks so far and it will still catch the catch every now and then either slightly or doing a ‘false lock’ which can be rectified via the above solution. The lock does work however. Overall a neat little fridge so far and if something happens, I’ll update this review
Updated review.
I originally bemoaned electrics going off, and after unplugged various things, this was the constant.
Well, something happened that proved this wasn’t the case, so it’s only fair I rectify my mistake and remove the review I previously wrote.
Fridge is quite large – I probably made a mistake buying it in this size, but it holds a lot. I bought mine mainly for storing drinks and healthy snacks in, in my office rather than having to keep going up and down stairs when busy concentrating on work things.
It is quite noisy – I intended to set up a spare sofa bed in my office for when I’m having a bad nights sleep and want somewhere to retreat to, however I think the noise on this has convinced me that this is probably not a good idea.
It does keep things very cool though – one of my complaints about most “mini-fridges” is that it cools to barely lower than room temperature. This is a proper fridge.
This fridge met all of my criteria when I was buying it. The fridge has a metal back panel which was important to me as a plastic one can melt off if the fridge gets too hot. It has 7 different stages of cooling with a dial inside. The dial itself is a bit flimsy but you’d be unlikely to ever damage it. The fridge is pretty spacious and able to hold a lot of things. The freezer part of the fridge has enough space but due to the way its shaped, its hard to put an ice cube tray in flat as the metal is somewhat ‘wavy’. Also the flap that’s meant to cover the freezer is very easy to break as you can accidently rest it on the door due to the way its designed and if you make the mistake of closing it, it would snap off easily as its only plastic. I had no use for the keylock but its a nice addition to this fridge. The idle sounds it makes are quiet but can be definitely heard. It is good at retaining its temperature and it cools itself down during the night maybe 1-2 times.
Decent fridge, no glaring issues.
Ok, so I wanted to write an in depth review on the fridge for people as there seem to be a lot of fast reviews here, specially considering the sound which I’ll go into in depth here too.
I bought this to replace my Husky Coca Cola mini fridge which was great but after 4 years the fridge packed in and I needed a new one, which after browsing around this was the one I chose.
Delivery – The fridge was delivered quickly and earlier than expected, the packaging of the fridge was great, really well packaged and very easy to get out. The box slides off the top so the fridge is already out as opposed to having to try get the fridge out of a square box, it’s really good how it’s packaged to be honest and makes it so easy to open up.
Location – I have this next to my bed on a carpet which is absolutely fine, I will go into the noise in a bit however the fridge looks absolutely fine next to my bed and works well; it’s a double bed with drawers at each side and the fridge is lower than the bed so isn’t overly tall next to these things and it looks really nice.
Space – There’s a LOT of space in the fridge, more than you would expect!! As you can see from the photo’s I’ve taken a few things to give people an idea of the size. The bottom shelf is very spacious, the pint glass (UFC) is a full size pint glass which is metallic within the glass (it’s really nice actually from the UFC store) and the bottle is a 700ml bottle of Bailey’s so you can get a good idea of the size and space with how much room there still is with those items. The concern for me was being able to fit 2 litre bottle’s of pop (Pepsi, Coke etc. if you don’t say pop ha) however there is plenty of space for this easily and you can fit a full 2 litre bottle in the door compartment and in the fridge itself, there’s a lot of room so you won’t have any problem (as long as you haven’t packed the fridge with loads of other things) but you can get a lot in there alongside them very easily, it’s very spacious!!
Coldness – This is fantastic!! I’m really, really impressed with how cold it keeps the drinks as it’s much better than my Husky fridge by far (I’m guessing most of you know how good Husky fridges are so this gives you an idea). I have the setting on 5 so just above the middle and it gives them that little extra coldness which is nice! The setting on 4 was ok, the drinks were getting nice and cold but being on 5 just seems perfect really and it’s honestly really good!
Sound – YES! The fridge DOES make quite a lot of sound BUT a lot of the reviews here are a little over exaggerated in my opinion! When I first got the fridge and turned it on and heard the sound I was also like “Oh no, this is noisy like people were saying” and was concerned about it BUT it doesn’t really do it that long and I have noticed since it’s been setup for just around 2 weeks now it’s kind of calmed down quite a bit and did pretty quickly to be honest. When the fridge makes these noises it’s usually for about 5 minutes if that and then the fridge is completely silent the rest of the time, like really silent, you don’t hear anything at that point. Bare in mind I’m a very light sleeper and this is next to my bed but even on the first night of it being there it didn’t disturb my sleep and was completely fine! You do also get used to it as well so you kind of don’t hear it after a while, think of when you have a loud ticking clock in your room and eventually you don’t hear the clock anymore, the fridge is like this so where as the first initial reaction for most people (and rightly so) would be that the fridge is noisy, it’s really not as bad as you think and it does calm down to the point where you’d first hear the louder gargling noises people have mentioned when you set the fridge up which calms down to just a lower hum, then the rest of the time the fridge is silent; so if initially the sound seems a bit too much for you just give it time to settle and see what it’s like within a couple of weeks, chances are you’ll be fine with it and it’s really not that bad!
I also think the sound is to do with the ice box because my Husky fridge didn’t have an ice box and I never heard these louder sounds (again, this calms down after the fridge has been settle for a while to just the regular hum all fridges make). I also noticed on the fridge downstairs which has an ice compartment that this fridge does this too which goes to show you only notice this when you listen for it, as otherwise it just becomes background noise but it does settle and it’s really not as bad as some people have made out at all in my opinion, I think a lot of these have been initial reviews as opposed to waiting a while and letting the fridge settle.
Ice Box – This is really good!! I saw a review earlier saying someone put an ice tray in and two days later no ice, this is baffling because it makes ice perfectly well and pretty fast too! I now have a bag full of ice in the compartment which I’ve created from ice cubes with an ice cube tray myself in the fridge and it’s awesome!! It’s not the most spacious ice box (which is a good thing really as you want more space in the fridge) and the door doesn’t click shut like you would expect (this is not a bad thing, it’s made this way for a reason), it basically rests against the ice box naturally and it’s great. I will say however I did notice when putting the ice cube trays in that one or two near the door wouldn’t be as frozen but this isn’t a problem, just flip the ice tray round for a few hours and those cubes will ice so it’s a really great little addition to the fridge where you can store ice cubes for drinks as and when you want them.
All in all it’s a really great fridge, the noise really isn’t as bad as made out and it is quiet most of the time; as well as of course it settles a lot and pretty quickly too so I wouldn’t worry about this at all. You’re not going to get a fridge that’s completely silent but you don’t even notice it, unless of course you are specifically listening out for it but that is the case with anything really. It’s very spacious, it’s packaged and delivered well, it’s very cool inside and really lovely for drinks (again, much better than my Husky fridge and that was good!) but I am really happy with the fridge and would recommend it.
It also looks really nice and very stylish, plus the bonus of having a lock is pretty cool to stop anyone stealing your food and drinks so I’m really happy with it.
I wanted to leave it a couple of weeks before writing this review to help people, specially with the noise thing that seems to be the thing it’s criticised for the most however I hope this has helped a few people in regards to if they want to purchase this or not.
If anything changes, I will amend my review however as of now it’s been really good, works really well and as I say, I’m really happy with it and for 90 too at the time of this review for the 50 litre fridge, it’s an absolute bargain for money, so I hope this helps 🙂
Although the first fridge I was sent was DOA, SubCold were extremely helpful and responsive, and despite the defective unit arriving Saturday of a bank holiday weekend, by Wednesday I had a working replacement, the defective unit had been collected, and a refund for the defective unit was on its way. Top customer service.
The fridge itself is very good. As others have noticed, although it looks quite compact from the outside it is surprisingly roomy on the inside. I am using it exclusively as a drinks fridge and I was able to easily fit 12 430ml cans, 12 330ml cans, 2 half bottles of wine and 2 bottles of water in it comfortably. if I wanted to be more clever there is still room to pack more, but for my needs it is full enough.
The fridge works well. At the medium setting the drinks are all as cold as I need them to be and the compressor rarely needs to kick in; exactly as it should be.
Although there is a bit of noise when the compressor kicks in, it is not too loud. Although I admit I notice it when it happens in the evening when the house is quiet, I am sure that within a month I will be so used to it I will no longer hear it. It is another of those noises in the house that one gets used to quickly and never pays attention to again.
If I were to list any areas where there is some room for improvement there are two:
Firstly, the temperature is not even around the fridge. But this is not a big deal and all fridges suffer this problem to some degree. Certainly it is no worse with this fridge than with other fridges I’ve used and one quickly learns where the coldest parts are.
Secondly, the freezer compartment is a little disappointing. Although it does a great job freezing an ice cube tray sat at the bottom of the freezer, it does less well with additional trays stacked above the first. I have 3 trays stacked on top of each other and only the bottom one freezes, even after several days. The solution I found is to rotate the trays after the bottom one has frozen. Eventually the bottom and middle trays are and remain solidly frozen, and the top one ends up about 90% frozen – the ice cubes sit in a thin layer of liquid water. This is good enough for my needs, but I wish the freezer section worked just a little better so as not to need all the fuss to get 3 trays to freeze. The good news is the tray on the bottom always freezes. I haven’t tried setting the fridge to a colder setting to see if it improves freezing, as it is more important to me that the fridge runs at its optimal efficiency.
Tl;dr A very good fridge, very much recommended. If I ever needed another small fridge I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one of these.
I am self-isolating but other members of my household are not so I have to keep to my bedroom as far as possible. To achieve this I have bought a few appliances including a small kettle and my Eco50 fridge.
Looking for a fridge on Amazon, there were some with very low volume, then there was a gap, and then a bunch with volumes around say 40-50 litres. I considered buying a low-volume fridge, being concerned about the external dimensions. In the end I reasoned that it would not serve my needs, so I went for the Eco50 instead, aware that it would not be ‘small’. I made the right choice, because inevitably I want to store more stuff than I originally expected.
I have it sitting on a desk in my bedroom. I was able to unpack and set it up myself without help. It sits there and does its thing. It is not silent, but I don’t have a problem with it, despite it being only 6 feet from my bed. I needed it. It does what I want. And it is going to be my companion for the next 12 weeks minimum, as per orders from Boris. If I were to put something soft under its feet such as a piece of carpet, it might make less noise, but I am not really bothered. (I have a mild hearing problem so if I were to wear my hearing aids more often I might do that.)
My room gets a lot of sun in the summer and getting rid of the heat can be a problem but I have mostly solved that in the last couple of years by putting up a blackout curtain and having some fans. Fridges produce heat, so it will be interesting to see how much of an effect that has during the peak of the summer, but I am not expecting it to be much of a concern, any more than my PC or TV.
