Get the book and the decoder disk ready on the table. Leave any ‘strange items’ in the box until you’ve explicitly been told that you found them. Sort the cards in ascending order in 4 stacks – Riddle cards, answer cards, help cards and odd cards, but don’t look at the front sides yet. The goal is to solve the puzzles and escape together as quickly as you can!

Every lock is secured with a riddle with a 3 digit code of numbers, colours or symbols. Can you crack the code? Every lock corresponds to a puzzle and each puzzle is marked with a symbol. Take the first riddle card and let the games begin! Pay attention to every detail.

Enter each code solved into the decoder disk. Then, look through the viewing window on the smallest wheel to see a number. This number indicates the number of the answer card that you are allowed to look at. If the code is correct the answer card will tell you how to proceed.

The game ends when you have solved the last riddle and escaped the Haunted Roller Coaster. Use the Exit Game Certificate to see how well you did! When calculating the number of Help Cards used, only the ones that gave you new hints or solutions should be counted.

First time playing one of these EXIT games with my partner. We love mystery case files, escape rooms etc.. and this is a great inexpensive way to have some fun and spend quality time. It’s really well made, very compact and there’s a lot of satisfaction getting the answers right after working out the riddles. We both really enjoyed it and purchased a second one before even packing up the first.
    Definitely recommend.

It only took about 45 minutes to complete only downside is it’s a 1 time play so due to having to cut pieces up and things like that you can’t share with someone else to have a go

My daughter (11) and I have done a few of these and they are great fun. Keeps her off her phone for a good 2 hours and gets both our brains thinking.

Good game, struggled with some parts but would try another by this company. Definitely needed an adult’s input.

My 10 year old nephew loves this! Perfect level for him.
We’ve had the more difficult version and loved this easier version for him.

It’s was a good game, tricky in a few areas and easier in others. It’s just a shame they’re one use only but that’s what the nature of the game is.

Have played a few of these games now and this has been one of my favourites. It can be difficult but is doable for a beginner. The story was a lot of fun.

Makes good sense and feels like an authentic EXIT series – though some of the riddles are too easy and felt like a task more than a puzzle to sovle at times. Nevertheless recommand all the way.

I got this game for my children (11 and 8 yrs old) and they absolutely loved it. They did not want to use the clue cards too easily and really did some impressive thinking and code breaking work. The riddles are really varied and fun to solve. The first time it can seem a little too hard at times but the clue cards are there to give a hand and there is a solution card too, in cases where more help is needed. We have gone through 3 games already and absolutley love them. Great way to develop problem solving and lateral thinking.

I like it. Some pages was difficult but some pages was very easy. We loved it with my 11 year daughte

We really enjoyed solving the all the clues and trying to ‘escape’ from the comfort of our home. Managed to solve in just over an hour (not bad for our first experience with this type of game!). only issue we had was that one of the clues did not say to turn to a page and we had to use a help card to know that we needed to go to that page. Other than that it was ‘smooth sailing’ and very enjoyable.

Really challenging. We tried this game and a 4 star difficulty, I’d recommend sticking to the 2 stars for the time being. This one was really fun and difficult without causing arguments

My sister and I like to play these games in a pub whenever she visits me from The Netherlands. This one had such a lovely story! But I’d recommend taking a pair of scissors if you play it out and about haha.. i had to ask the bar staff regularly who looked at us oddly haha.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis game was very enjoyable. We do escape rooms often and this is a great alternative If you want a quiet night in. Only thing I’d say is there was one task you needed a glass of water with and it didn’t state on the set up instructions. Lukcy enough we were playing at home. The instructions are easy to follow and it keeps you engaged throughout. Took us about 1.5 hours to complete. A great way to enjoy an evening. Can’t wait to buy more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWe play these games as soon as they become available and we are huge fans. There were novel aspects in this one which we had no encountered previously. Novice rating but a couple of puzzles took us an embarrassing long amount of time to solve. I’m not a Lord of the Rings fan at all but it didn’t matter in the slightest in order to enjoy this game. I do not understand why another reviewer has scored it so low. Perhaps not the best offering in this series but they’re all pretty great and we lap them up.

This was great for an evening’s entertainment. We found it to be just the right level of challenge to keep us interested but not frustrated. All of the resources are of a high quality. It’s just a shame these games aren’t designed to be reused.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe started playing the Exit games when I bought 3 for our family Christmas. We had done 2 novice games before Roller Coaster but this was our favourite and is the one I will be buying people when I need a great gift – it’s a great introduction to these games. It’s got lots of activities that contribute to answering the riddles and it has some really cute features so would engage younger kids but it’s not so simple that adults would get bored (we are 2 adults and an A level student and we thought this game was delightful). I rarely write reviews but Exit escape games are just so brilliantly made and such fun to play that I had to leave a review

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe’ve done two other Exit games from the range. We loved the Pharoah (4/5 difficulty) but found the Catacombs (5/5 difficulty) unbelievably hard and gave up! We bought this one as it was a 2/5 and might be more manageable. It was definitely better, some puzzles were very easy and others more challenging. Overall it took us almost 2 hours and we used 4 hints. Would recommend as an entry level game for those who are new, or for those who find the harder versions too difficult like us! Not sure about the ‘special cards’ at the end of the game, as a game for teens/adults this seemed a bit unnecessary.

On a side note, would also like to see Kosmos make more versions without the need to cut or draw on resources (or the ability to order replacements). I probably won’t order any more due to the one-use nature of the product. I would like to be able to pass onto friends and family to play when I’m done, or even sell on eBay, etc.

Really enjoyed this game. Played with my 9 year old daughter.

Loved the story to the game and it really helped get in to it. Liked the interactive nature.

We took a bit of time getting into it and used some hints cards, but even still really enjoyed the cleverness of this game. Will buy more.

I love EXIT games so much. Finished this one on my own, even though it took several hours. Really enjoyed it. I just wish there were more of them and perhaps priced a little bit less! But they’re fantastic!

This was the first of the EXIT games I have tried and we enjoyed it very much. Theres a little bit of thinking involved (this is one of the easier ones I believe) and its great fun working together and piecing clues to solve the puzzle. We also found the cutting, tearing and destroying of cards and items quite satisfying in our pursuit of solving the game. I dont see how you could get more than 2hrs out of this one (haunted roller coaster), more likely 60-90mins which makes it relatively expensive since you can – and should – only play it once.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was an excellent way to spend an evening. Having done lots of real life escape games I was a bit sceptical about one from a box but was really impressed with the variety of puzzles.

A great activity for lockdown, so much fun and something really different. It would be good if you could purchase a “replacement parts” pack once you had finished the game so you could give the game to someone else to enjoy. Also sometime we got stuck on the final bit of a clue but had to use all 3 clue cards (bits we’d already solved) to get to the final bit we couldn’t solve. All in all a fun night and would recommend this to friends/do agai

These are great fun. It’s actually quite cool to know you are only using it once so cutting things is allowed! It took us some time and we used a fair amount of the clues but once we got the hang of how the puzzles worked we found it got easier and by the end we had a great time and would definitely buy another of these.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersReview of House of Riddles

This is described as an easy version of the Exit the Room series (set at 2/5 difficulty) and it works at that level. None of the puzzles are too difficult and doing this as a family we were never stuck and needed no clues to get through any of the stages. This was great as we deliberately chose an easier game to keep the younger family members involved. Even with the simplicity, we still got a good hours entertainment from the game and you need to use a range of skills to break the codes at each level.

Overall: this will be far too easy for experienced puzzlers but is a fab entry-level starting point to the Exit game series and an entertaining family game in its own right.
